View Full Version : Invisible monster, invisible treasure?

Here's what happened:

I was collecting the pieces of the mask at Windspear from the Efreeti. I knocked one down to Near Death status and I poisoned him. The Efreeti then goes invisible and I ran out of the room and closed the door to let the poison finish him off.

After he dies and I get experience for it, I come back to search for the piece of mask and it was GONE!

What happened? Quest items should not disappear so easily right?

Weird stuff.
The easiest solution is to reload.

If you reload and it isn't working, i suggest using CLUAconsole or Shadowkeeper.

Go in the room and close the door.

If you leave during a fight and the monster chases you and you close the door in his face and then he dies, his body (and the treasure) is sometimes hidden by the door when you open it to re-enter.

If he is very, very close to the door/wall sometimes the treasure may be deposited "inside" a wall/door area that you can't get at or even see.

Reload and fight again.

It only happened to me twice in many BG1 games, and once in my current (first) BG2 game.

There are a lot more doors in BG2.

Yeah, I ended up reloading and it was no problem.

But I wish I had tried detecting invisibility first. (I didn't have a mage or cleric available at the time) As I suggested in the topic heading, I had a hunch that the treasure might be invisible. Now that would be really weird.

I don't think that items can be invisible, the engine doesn't work that way.

Errrm, well I was of the opinion, when I've done Windspear a few times, there was only one Efreet that caused you probs, and if you leave him til last after you get all the pieces from the other efreets, and put them together, you make Strohm's Mask. The description never actually says what the Mask does, but thieves can use it, that is mentioned, but what abilities does it grant ? I beleive or am near 100% certain it grants det invis, or certainly det inv on the last efreet or whatever it is you have to fight.

As near as I can tell, it only lets you see the fire elemental in the last chamber.

It also provides protection from critical hits, and can be equipped by everyone (hint: mages).
