View Full Version : The political ambitions of 50 Cent
Beren Thu, 11th Dec '03, 4:49pm I haven't had time to look for an internet link, but I saw a couple of T.V. bulletins indicating that rapper 50 cent wants to run for Governor of Conneticut.
What will we see next?
I know this is going to provide food for thought to everybody here who had something to say about Arnie becoming Governor of California.
Taluntain Thu, 11th Dec '03, 9:46pm The only difference is, Arnold actually had a good chance of winning. 50 Cent's chance is worth only about as much as his nickname.
Jaguar Thu, 11th Dec '03, 11:19pm Ok, Canadian here with a question. Is there anyone in the Us who can't run for governer?
I mean it. Are there any prerequisites? Any at all?
Laches Fri, 12th Dec '03, 1:24am Ok, Canadian here with a question. Is there anyone in the Us who can't run for governer?
Yes. Lots of them.
I mean it. Are there any prerequisites? Any at all? Yes.
Hacken Slash Fri, 12th Dec '03, 1:24am I believe the Gubernatorial requirements differ somewhat from State to State, but in general they all entail residency within the State for some period of time, minimum age (typically 35 or 40), and no outstanding arrest warrants. Some places, like California, require a titanium alloy endo-skeleton and a creepy red eye. :D
Ain't Democracy Grand?
Laches Fri, 12th Dec '03, 1:27am A cooler question than Jaguar's is: who should be prevented from running for Gov and why? Is it bad that a musician has said he is considering running for political office? Of course, it has been asked elsewhere before.

Aldazar Fri, 12th Dec '03, 2:49am 50 Cent wanting to run for governor? Man am I glad I'm not over there!
Mind you, we have enough trouble with our own politicians. But if you can't ahve any outstanding arrest warrants, will he ever actually be able to qualify?
Hacken Slash Fri, 12th Dec '03, 3:28am @Aldazar...bear in mind, this is America...Outstanding Warrants can usually be dealt with by a substantial bribe or a good stout threat.
50 cent is an idiot if he seriously thinks he can run for any office, besides Commissioner of MTV.
Laches Fri, 12th Dec '03, 3:49am I think the way some states (most a few? I dunno) do it is say that you have to be eligible to vote for the office if you want to run for it + other requirements. This would rule out felons etc.
I haven't been able to find any link to the 50 cent rumor by the way. It may be out there but google didn't turn it up for me. Does anyone have a link?
Didn't Italy have a porn star named 'Cuddles' in its Parliament? *shurg
joacqin Fri, 12th Dec '03, 4:39pm Her name was Ciccionlina and she was a quite prominent member of parliment. Parliment and governor are quite different things though, atleast here in Europe. Many funky persons are capable of getting into various parliments and I dont think there are any serious prerecquisitives. We here in Sweden for instance have a Survivor runner up in our parliment. He was a professional politicans before he competed in Survivor though but it is still shows how freaky the world is and how much media exposure really means.
Mystra's Chosen Sat, 13th Dec '03, 5:17pm I wonder how many votes that pornstar who was running for Gov of Cali got. Her campaign was "Free lapdances for everyone!" *add ditz giggle and the end*
Why does $0.50 want to run for Governer of Conneticut? Does he live/come from/even been there? Tal is right though... I don't think Conneticut would "fly" with him.
Laches Sat, 13th Dec '03, 5:26pm Why does $0.50 want to run for Governer of Conneticut? Does he want to? I just checked again and still don't see anything about it via google etc. The closest you get is a tobacco tax in Conn. for 50 cents.
