View Full Version : Dr. Mom Dragonfly Tue, 22nd Nov '05, 5:50am This should be an interesting topic starter. http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/2330/ Colthrun Tue, 22nd Nov '05, 2:42pm An... interesting article. It is known that breastmilk is exceedengly rich in antibodies, which are your frontliners against most infections, including the ones mentioned. Those antibodies are passed on to the babies to strengthen their defences. Most pediatricians recommend breast feeding because of this. Whether those antibodies would survive long enough outside an organism to be of any use against skin or eye infections... Dragonfly Tue, 22nd Nov '05, 9:09pm Although I'm not surprised, I find it kind of funny that this topic ended up in AODA meanwhile topics about spitting and urination stayed in Whatnots. Felinoid Tue, 22nd Nov '05, 9:33pm Whether those antibodies would survive long enough outside an organism to be of any use against skin or eye infections... They don't have to survive long, just long enough to make the transfer. Any "soft" flesh like the eyes and mouth would absorb it immediately, and infections are fairly open to the outside world. Though you may not get the same effectiveness with a skin rash that you would with an eye infection. Rallymama Wed, 23rd Nov '05, 4:09pm I can attest that it works to prevent incipient cases of conjunctivitis from blossoming into a fluu-blown infection. T2Bruno Wed, 23rd Nov '05, 5:22pm Too much information -- that's just way too much information.... Saber Wed, 23rd Nov '05, 5:28pm Wow. Balle Mon, 28th Nov '05, 11:32pm aight sucking a breast is one thing. another thing is to drink the milk! that'sjust sick yes i know it's "natural" and a part of the human body, but because we've done it once doesn't mean it's okay to do it again i've gotten food through an Umbilical cord once, but i sure as hell wouldnt do it again, furthermore it is not possible people who drink their wife's milk are [snip] [Warning pending. -Tal] [ November 29, 2005, 02:53: Message edited by: Taluntain ] |
