View Full Version : Best Stage Show
Baezlebub Sat, 21st Feb '04, 9:53am Well, this coming off the back of a discussion I had with a mate of mine about who had the best stage show we have ever seen, I thought it would be fun to throw it to more people than just me and him. He was adamant that Placebo were the best. I had to go with Bowie. How 'bout 'yall?
Baldrak Sat, 21st Feb '04, 11:40am Difficult choice!
I'd probably go with Rage Against the Machine at Pinkpop '94 or with Radiohead at Torhout '97...
Pac man Sat, 21st Feb '04, 12:24pm U2 in Rotterdam.
BOC Sat, 21st Feb '04, 12:39pm Accept in Athens Rodon in 1993 and Blue Oyster Cult in the same stage in 1995.
Sarevok• Sat, 21st Feb '04, 1:42pm Steve Vai - London 2001
Benan Sat, 21st Feb '04, 6:52pm Both times that I've seen Strung Out. Ohhh and the Suicide Machines were good.
metal leper Sat, 21st Feb '04, 7:32pm Steve Vai, anywhere, anytime :D
Wildfire Sat, 21st Feb '04, 8:28pm Reel Big Fish certainly put on really good shows the four times I've seen them, but then again the Foo Fighters and Metallica were just awesome when I saw them too.
Harbourboy Sun, 22nd Feb '04, 7:36am Paul McCartney in Auckland in 1993. What a showman.
Frostmage Sun, 22nd Feb '04, 11:22am AC/DC when they were in Finland a few years ago. And damn it was loud!
Septic Yogurt Sun, 22nd Feb '04, 6:57pm The Mars Volta.... just amazing.
Aldazar Mon, 23rd Feb '04, 1:12am We talking concerts or Stage Musicals like Oklahoma?
Baezlebub Mon, 23rd Feb '04, 7:37am Concerts. I thought the whole 'David Bowie, Steve Vai, Paul McCartney' would have given that away.
Aldazar Tue, 24th Feb '04, 2:59am It would have if I wasn't an having an 'idiot' day yesterday. :xx:
Sorvo Fri, 2nd Apr '04, 3:23am Slayer, Moterhead and Overkill. Halloween night, 1988. It doesn't get any crazier then that :p
Falstaff Fri, 2nd Apr '04, 4:56am Metallica - any stage, any time.
\m/
Baezlebub Mon, 5th Apr '04, 1:17am Well, I saw them only briefly at the Big Day Out, but I just read in Rolling Stone Magazine that The Flaming Lips have a bloody awesome stage show. 4 1/2 stars from 5. I'm going to have to go to a real concert now.
Apeman Mon, 5th Apr '04, 2:24pm Agree with Pacman
U2 in Rotterdam
Death Rabbit Mon, 5th Apr '04, 5:03pm If we're talking about the show itself, and more than just the singing/playing by the artist and including the stage, props, effects, motif, everything...I'm gonna have to say Rob Zombie, hands down. I saw him on his Hellbilly Deluxe tour back in '99, and to this day it is still the stick by which I measure the "showmanship" put into any concert I attend.
Anybody can stand on stage and play a guitar. Not everyone can make you feel like you've stepped into an intense, tripped-out psychodelic 1960's horror movie. Go Rob.
That said...for a guy who stands on stage and plays guitar, John Mayer is incredible. Much better than I ever thought he would be. I'm talkin' Stevie Ray Vaughen good. No kidding.
Takara Mon, 5th Apr '04, 5:06pm Easily pink floyd. The pulse show at earles cout '94 was AMAZING! After that, Alice Cooper's brutal planet tour was really good.
Djieff Mon, 5th Apr '04, 6:30pm R.E.M. during the "Monster" tour in 1994. Just awesome stuff from my favourite band ever.
Iago Mon, 5th Apr '04, 6:49pm AC/DC, pure fun.
Robbie Williams, great entertainer.
U2, best show, lightning and stuff.
So, best stage show, U2. Best show performance, Robbie Williams. Best life-band AC/DC.
Did I confuse enough ?
(Worst concert I ever was, is a band mentionend in another post. I just don't get that celebrity status they have... but maybe just not my taste).
Concert I ponder to attend, if she comes near here again. Britney Spears. I like Table-dancers. Maybe she would throw U2 from the throne of stage-shows expirienced by me.
Darkwolf Tue, 6th Apr '04, 8:14pm I am with takara. I saw Floyd at the Oakland Coliseum, the show blew me away, and that was before the contact high from all the hippie lettuce being smoked around me! :hippy:  :spin: :rolling:
Mystra's Chosen Wed, 7th Apr '04, 4:55am Anti-Flag. I don't really like them anymore, but they have more energy on stage than anyone I've ever seen.
Something Corporate is also good. He plays a piano solo with his feet.
