Register Mon, 9th Feb '04, 10:56pm If you like foreign language there is always Nordman here from Sweden, he have a kind of modern middle-age music, but fortunatly for me, unfortunatly for you, he sings in Swedish. Ofelix Mon, 9th Feb '04, 11:25pm I don't mind foreign laguage as long the music is good. In fact I really like Windir, but I can't reacall which country is came from... Blog Tue, 10th Feb '04, 1:38am What time frame is Middle Age? If you mean the Middle Ages (ie: pre-1500 stuff), I have a textbook that gives some names of people from that era. I doubt this is what you want so unless you say so, I'll leave the textbook shelved. Dalveen Tue, 10th Feb '04, 1:51am Henry the 8th :p ;) he composed Greensleeves, so dont mock Rav'n Tue, 10th Feb '04, 2:43am Are you looking for true Middle age music? or music based off it? If you want music based off the Middle ages a couple of guys I listen too... Yngwie Malmsteen- Neo Heavy Metal VERY influenced by Beethoven, Bach, Motzart and Paginini Jethro Tull- how can you NOT listen to Ian and the boys. Trans Siberian Orchestra- NY based rockers that are the founding members of SAVATAGE, have 3 albums out, 2 X-mas and one is an opera based on "Bethovans Last Night" Admittedly it's a stretch from Middle age/Renn music.. but it is cool. Most Renn FAires have guys/groups that are all Rennaisance Music. Check out web sites, they'll have links. check out "the Scottish Rogues" and "the Minstrels of Mayhem" Fabius Maximus Thu, 12th Feb '04, 10:08am Try 'Corvus Corax', 'Poeta Magica' and 'Empyrium'. Rallymama Thu, 12th Feb '04, 12:57pm Theresa Schroeder-Sheker Steeley Span Fairport Convention Clannad Capercaellie The Chieftains Talitha Mackenzie John Renbourne Trevor Pinnock and the English Concert (classical) And that's just off the top of my head. Let me go home tonight and review my CD collection. Jack Funk Thu, 12th Feb '04, 10:16pm I'm middle age and I'm listening to The Isley Brothers "3 + 3" album as I type this. :D Aldazar Tue, 17th Feb '04, 1:40am Would the Gregorian Masters Of Chant series count? I saw the ad for the fourth in the series last night. For any that don't know, it's all fairly recent music done in the Gregorian style. Neverless Thu, 19th Feb '04, 3:13pm I have a "Middle Age" CD that my mom bought for me a long time ago. Many of the songs on the CD are English folk songs so I'm not sure what composers existed in this age. P4TRiQ Thu, 19th Feb '04, 6:51pm I think that Gregorian Master of Chant is classed as "Middle-Age-music" and they are wery GOOD indeed. Have Chapter I,II and IIII. Ofelix Thu, 19th Feb '04, 10:36pm Whoa! Thank for all the replies! So far I've try Riverdance, it's some good stuff... real good stuff. Aldazar Fri, 20th Feb '04, 5:56am And don't listen to those who would tell you that Riverdance and Michael Flatley shows suck. They're not too bad. My mum has Lord Of The Dance on video and while I don't see the fuss about Flatley himself, the show is pretty damn good. Naveed Wed, 25th Feb '04, 4:51pm How about Loreena McKennitt? She does some pretty good stuff^^ Rallymama Wed, 25th Feb '04, 6:27pm June Tabor. How could I have forgotten June Tabor?! |
