View Full Version : The song quote game
Ofelix Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 2:51pm MMM, the various Quote game, gaves me an idea, Let's do another one, but with song title or song's lyric! You must identify the artist
It's basicely, the same rules as the First quote game you must wait that the poster accept your answer than you can post another title/lyric unless you are 100% sure of your answer than you can post another one.
Please use english, as it is the only language all of the Sp-er know
Here a copy of Death's Rabit post at the begening of Quote 2
Someone posts a quote from a song or lyric. If you know the Artist it came from, and post the answer correctly, then and ONLY then may you post a quote of your own. Unless you're 100% sure you're correct, don't post a quote of your own until you are confirmed correct by the original quoter.
If it's your turn, you must respond with a new quote within 1 day (24 hours) to keep the thread going. Otherwise the thread may be hijacked by the next available impatient jackass.
If the person who's quote you've responded to does not confirm that you are correct within 24 hours of your answer, you are then assumed correct by default, provided no one else chimes in with the correct answer within that time or disputes your answer.
Okay let's begin with an easy one
¨Highway to hell¨
Splunge Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 3:08pm AC/DC
Ofelix Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 6:33pm Correct, go ahead and post another one
Splunge Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 6:41pm OK, I’m going to suggest a slight clarification to the rules: we should say whether you’re quoting a song title, or lyrics from a song. And if it’s lyrics, the person making the guess must name the artist and the song. Of course, since this is Ofelix's thread, he has final say here, but I'm going to post assuming he's OK with it.
Here’s mine (lyrics, and apropos for these Boards :D ):
in the darkest depths of Mordor
I met a girl so fair,
but Gollum, and the evil one
crept up and slipped away with her.
Ofelix Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 7:18pm Good idea, For now you must post the artist plus the title,
Mmmm, this look like some kind of LotR stuff
Splunge Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 7:25pm Nope, other than the reference, it has nothing to do with LotR.
It's probably a bit early for a hint, but it falls under the category "classic rock" (big surprise, coming from me ;) )
BOC Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 8:37pm "Ramble on" by Led Zeppelin.
Let's continue with more classic rock
He was the wizard of a thousand kings
And I chanced to meet him one night wandering
He told me tales and he drank my wine
Me and my magic man kinda a feeling fine
Splunge Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 9:02pm A bit of a guess, but "The Wizard" by Uriah Heep?
BOC Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 9:06pm Exactly. Your turn mate.
Splunge Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 9:22pm OK, a softball (I hope) (Lyrics):
'scuse me, while I kiss the sky
Iago Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 10:00pm Purple Haze, Jimmy Hendrix.
Splunge Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 10:03pm Yup. Go!
Iago Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 10:20pm he, he, I played once guitar, but I never gotten farther then hey joe
There's a green card and a way
The holy ghost
And the whole east coast
Are moving to LA
Master of Nuhn Sat, 3rd Jan '04, 7:24pm Robbie Williams' Hot Fudge?
Iago Sat, 3rd Jan '04, 7:46pm Yes, sir ! Your turn !
Master of Nuhn Sat, 3rd Jan '04, 7:54pm Perhaps a li'l tricky...
The stairways up to la butte can make the wretched sigh,
while windmill wings of the moulin shelter you and I.
Okay tips:
His father's first name is Loudon.
The song can be heared in a film about a brothel in Paris.

Sir Ai Rayzor Sun, 4th Jan '04, 12:01pm Could it be "Complainte de la Butte by Rufus Wainwright" from the movie Moulin Rouge?
Master of Nuhn Sun, 4th Jan '04, 6:57pm Aye Aye Rayzor. Your turn. :)
Sir Ai Rayzor Mon, 5th Jan '04, 4:47pm Here we go:
she's made of hair and bone and little teeth
and things I cannot speak
she comes on like a crippled plaything
spine is just a string
I wrapped our love in all this foil
silver-tight like spider legs
Hint:
A hit in 1997
Defspeal Tue, 6th Jan '04, 1:33pm I think thats by maralyn manson but I dont know what track :hmm:
*points at Rayzor and shouts goth*
@ Rayzor
Sorry, I had just finished reading the On goths, real goths, death and black thread at the time.

Septic Yogurt Tue, 6th Jan '04, 2:33pm its Tourniquet, mary mansons best album if you ask me.
Sir Ai Rayzor Tue, 6th Jan '04, 5:53pm @ Defspeal
Yes. Its Marilyn Manson - but which song ?
And no - I'm not a goth (although i died my hair completely white :p :p )
@ Septic Yogurt
Tourniquet is correct, but "mary manson" ??
One thing; its not an album. The song comes from the album "Antichrist Superstar" from 1996. ;)
The first one to put the two right parts together wins the right to post the next song quote!! :) :)
Xei Win Toh Tue, 6th Jan '04, 8:23pm :shake: Marilyn Manson - "Tourniquet" ?
Sorry, just wanted to chip in :o
So here we go:
The skies are open, for atomic vikings to roam
Splunge Thu, 8th Jan '04, 3:57am Time for a hint, or more details, or whatever.
Vyndin Source Thu, 8th Jan '04, 7:41am I'd agree...
I'm guessing it's a rock or metal song...
Never seen the lyric though
Sir Ai Rayzor Thu, 8th Jan '04, 9:15am I believe its "Tarot - Wings Of Darkness" ?
Xei Win Toh Thu, 8th Jan '04, 1:42pm Yep! Wow, someone else who knows about them!
Baezlebub Thu, 8th Jan '04, 2:05pm Not the best of ideas to post song quotes from a nearly unheard of band.
Splunge Thu, 8th Jan '04, 2:35pm I agree.
Let's keep them to something that at least has had a reasonable amount of radio airplay. ;)
I believe Sir Ai Rayzor is up.
Septic Yogurt Thu, 8th Jan '04, 2:41pm yeah, i know it isnt the name of the album, i was simply stating its the best work he has done.
and if you look at him, mary manson is a fitting name, since theres nothing about him to take seriously.
Ofelix Thu, 8th Jan '04, 11:22pm Gee, To my great shame I didn't know most of the song posted here...
Anyway Sir Ai Rayzor we're waiting for ye,
Splunge Fri, 9th Jan '04, 6:46pm Invoking the impatient jackass rule:
History recalls how great the fall can be
While everybody's sleeping, the boats put out to sea
Borne on the wings of time
It seemed the answers were so easy to find
"Too late," the prophets cry
The island's sinking, let's take to the sky
BOC Fri, 9th Jan '04, 8:46pm "Fool's overture" by Supertramp?
Splunge Fri, 9th Jan '04, 8:57pm That's the second one of mine you've guessed, BOC. Let's see if I can return the favour. :D
BOC Fri, 9th Jan '04, 9:03pm This must be easy (atleast for the metalheads around here and Splunge I don't think that you are one of them :D ).
I march before a martyred world, an army for the fight
I speak of great heroic days, of victory and might
I hold a banner drenched in blood, I urge you to be brave
I lead you to your destiny, I lead you to your grave
Xei Win Toh Fri, 9th Jan '04, 9:05pm Sounds like Manowar to me.
BOC Fri, 9th Jan '04, 9:10pm Wrong answer. Here's a hint. Their leader was a ex-member of Hawkwind.
Sarevok• Sat, 10th Jan '04, 1:35am motorhead orgasmatron
BOC Sat, 10th Jan '04, 8:01am Yes. Go on.

Xei Win Toh Sun, 11th Jan '04, 3:01pm Methinks it's time for a hint.
Sarevok• Sun, 11th Jan '04, 3:09pm New york band, song isn't old either.

BOC Mon, 12th Jan '04, 9:51pm Splunge here I am again :D ."My generation" by The Who
Splunge Mon, 12th Jan '04, 10:02pm Grrr!

Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart
Sir Ai Rayzor Tue, 13th Jan '04, 11:43am "Dave Navarro - Venus In Furs"
I'm going on a wild guess that its right, so heres the next one:
I wipe it off on tile, the light is brighter this time
Everything is 3D blasphemy
My eyes are red and gold, the hair is standing straight up
This is not the way I pictured me
I can't control my shakes
How the hell did I get here?
Something about this, so very wrong...
I have to laugh out loud, I wish I didn't like this
Is it a dream or a memory?
Anyone ?
[EDIT: If the guess is not correct, then please ignore the lyrics in this post.]
BOC Tue, 13th Jan '04, 12:12pm The title is correct, but not the artist, it seems that this Navarro has made a cover of the song. Here's a hint. The cover painting of the album, which contains this song is one of the most famous cover paintings of the rock history and it was created by Andy Warhol.

Sarevok• Sun, 18th Jan '04, 2:15pm Yep, your turn.
BOC Sun, 18th Jan '04, 2:52pm He had enough
He couldn’t take anymore
He’d found a place
In his mind and slammed the door
Splunge Mon, 19th Jan '04, 2:18pm How 'bout a hint?
BOC Mon, 19th Jan '04, 3:51pm They are one of the best and most influential british heavy metal bands and they are famous for their concerts, where their singer used to enter the stage driving a Harley Davidson. They were accused that one of their songs has led two teenagers to suicide in the U.S. but the court found them not guilty, their singer has admited that he is gay (in an MTV show IIRC). This particular song was included in their 1978 LP.
Splunge Mon, 19th Jan '04, 9:22pm Well, I know the band now, but not being a metalhead (as BOC correctly guessed earlier :D ), I don't know the song. (Well, I do, but I had to do a search, so it doesn't count.) So, it's up to someone else.
dmc Mon, 19th Jan '04, 10:26pm Had to ask my brother, the Judas Priest junkie, but: Beyond the Realms of Death.
Splunge Mon, 19th Jan '04, 10:33pm Well, since BOC isn't here, and I cheated, I'll confirm that you're right, dmc. Your turn.
dmc Mon, 19th Jan '04, 10:56pm OK:

Baezlebub Tue, 20th Jan '04, 4:16pm Am I allowed to confirm that? Because it's right.
Sir Ai Rayzor Wed, 21st Jan '04, 1:24pm If its allowed then here goes the next lyric:
I forgive
I pretend
Not to smile
'Cause I am

Sarevok• Wed, 21st Jan '04, 8:14pm Yeah david bowie ^^
Splunge Wed, 21st Jan '04, 10:21pm Sir A. - is this band basically an unknown? Because I think we're trying to keep the song quotes to those from artists (and their songs) that have a reasonable chance of being familiar to the rest of us.
Aikanaro Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 1:07pm How about if you're posting an obscure lyric, you also post one that people might actually get. Or mayhap someone could start a new thread where we dump obscure lyrics and throw guesses around of who sings them
Baezlebub Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 3:05pm Hmm, lets stick to the more mainstream bands, shall we. Or at least, not obscure Norweigan Goth bands that no one but a select underground of 3 orangu-tans and a baby mongoose have heard of, okay?
Iago Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 4:42pm Huh ? I did a google search about the lyrics. Yet I don't know the song, but that band which to be the original provider of the song surely isn't unkown.
Sir Ai Rayzor Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 5:23pm @Baezlebub: Denmark, not Norway ;)
For starters:
I googled the song lyrics too, so it is there.
They are a mainstream rockband.
The band is not on the international scene yet.
...and their name is "Carpark North".
Here is the next lyrics:

Continuing on with the "lyrics that aren't really lyrics" idea, here's mine (this may be really easy or really hard, I'm not sure; it may need a hint later on):
do - - do do - - do do - - do - do do -
do - - do do - - do do - - do - do do -
do - - do do - - do do - - do - do do -
do - - do do- - do do - - do - do do -
(OK, one hint - it's pronounced "doo" (kinda like "dew"), not "doe")
Harbourboy Tue, 27th Jan '04, 2:19pm Sound exactly like Lou Reed - "Take a Walk on the Wild Side" . . . .
BOC Tue, 27th Jan '04, 2:24pm Perhaps "I was made for lovin' you" by Kiss?
EDIT: Oops, Splunge posted the same moment with me.
Splunge Tue, 27th Jan '04, 2:24pm "Really easy" it was! :D
You're up, Harbourboy.
Edit: Ha! Finally stumped ya!! Maybe not so easy, BOC :p
BOC Tue, 27th Jan '04, 2:39pm It doesn't count, they weren't real lyrics, they could be from thousands songs, from Kiss and Lou Reed to MC Hammer. :p
Splunge Tue, 27th Jan '04, 2:46pm Yeah, but the trick was in getting the rhythm (which was the purpose of the hyphens), and Harbourboy seems to have got it. :p
Harbourboy Tue, 27th Jan '04, 2:50pm OK

"Every night sun goes down
And the people are staying at home
You can tell your momma and daddy
Leave those children alone"
It was a minor hit in the late 1980s from a strange movie that was made by the band. This band is more famous for another earlier movie they made which is renowned as one of the best live concert movies ever.

I hate their poetry. It's their lyrics with an attempt at depth. It doesn't really work, it just appeals to 'angst-filled' teens.

BOC Fri, 30th Jan '04, 10:23pm "The rime of the ancient mariner" by Iron Maiden.
See the morning dancer, crossing the sky,
Turning gold to amber travelling by
He must know the answer
He must know why
Looking for an answer, look to the sky
EDIT: "The rime of the ancient mariner" is indeed a poem by Samuel Taylor Colerigde(sp?) but Iron Maiden composed a song based on it and they have included in the lyrics a part of the poem.
Ofelix Fri, 30th Jan '04, 10:52pm could it be
Manfred Mann's Earth Band "Solar Fire"
BOC Fri, 30th Jan '04, 11:14pm Correct, your turn.
Ofelix Fri, 30th Jan '04, 11:25pm In this bloody dawn
I will wash my soul
To call the spirit of vengeance
To deny my wisdom for anger
To break the scream of the silent fool
And to be the son of doom
Baezlebub Sat, 31st Jan '04, 6:34am Don't you love delayed replys?
Darken Rahl, the song is Frank Sinatra by Cake, not the other way around.
Sarevok• Sat, 31st Jan '04, 7:07am rhapsody - knightrider of doom
Splunge Sat, 31st Jan '04, 3:07pm the song is Frank Sinatra by Cake, not the other way around Ahh, the risks of doing a google search when you don't know the answer. :p
Darhken Rahl Sun, 1st Feb '04, 3:40am Ahh, the risks of doing a google search when you don't know the answermeh, I did do a google search ; )

Sarevok• Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 10:31pm Believe me baby
I know it's true
Come on sugar
Let me give it to you
Splunge Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 11:21pm Arrrgh! I knew the band, but couldn't come up with the name of the song. Now I know the name, but since I cheated to get it, it wouldn't count, so I'm not posting it.
BOC Tue, 3rd Feb '04, 3:07pm "Sha-La-La" by Thin Lizzy

BOC Tue, 3rd Feb '04, 8:17pm Tell me where the hell I'm going
Let my bones fall in the dust
Can't you hear that ghost that's calling
As my Colt begins to rust
Sir Ai Rayzor Tue, 3rd Feb '04, 8:47pm Desperado by Alice Cooper
If its correct then these lyrics will have to do for now:
I don't want you, and I don't need you,
don't bother to resist i'll beat you.
It's not your fault that your always wrong,
the weak ones are there to justify the strong.
BOC Tue, 3rd Feb '04, 9:17pm Correct Sir Ai.
Sarevok• Tue, 3rd Feb '04, 9:30pm marilyn manson beautiful people
Sir Ai Rayzor Wed, 4th Feb '04, 11:01am Correct! :)

But we’re still animals.
BOC Fri, 6th Feb '04, 3:45pm "Liberty" by Steve Vai.
Sarevok• Fri, 6th Feb '04, 7:00pm Yes the godly Vai indeed
BOC Fri, 6th Feb '04, 8:39pm Don't smell the flowers
They're an evil drug to make you lose your mind
Don't dream of women

Sarevok• Sat, 7th Feb '04, 2:12pm blind gaurdian
don't talk to strangers
BOC Sat, 7th Feb '04, 2:26pm Correct title, wrong artist. The original song belongs to a band which was formed by an ex-singer of Elf, Rainbow and Black Sabbath. (I think I made it too easy now). ;)
Xei Win Toh Sat, 7th Feb '04, 2:31pm Dio?
BOC Sat, 7th Feb '04, 2:32pm Exactly.
Xei Win Toh Sat, 7th Feb '04, 2:35pm Whee!

Xei Win Toh Sun, 8th Feb '04, 8:22pm Correct!

EDIT 2: Since it's been over 24 hours, I'm gonna be an Impatient Jackass and post another one:

Baezlebub Tue, 10th Feb '04, 12:19am Its the dentist song from Little Shop of Horrors.
Lets hand it over to Sarevoc_, its his turn...
Xei Win Toh Tue, 10th Feb '04, 7:04am Kindly disregard this post.

Sarevok• Tue, 10th Feb '04, 7:12pm Should not be so impatient, it has only been 24 hours sure. I have to work and I have things to do, this site does not have legs.
So I will take my turn ;)
There are people there, they are so obscene
If you see what I mean
Then they've sold you the dream
Xei Win Toh Tue, 10th Feb '04, 8:36pm Oh, fine...
BOC Tue, 10th Feb '04, 9:06pm "Chinatown" by Thin Lizzy
Sarevok• Tue, 10th Feb '04, 9:27pm Ah, that is very good! There are extra points for telling me where that song was recorded. [/optional] Even more points if you could tell me the name of the guitarist they used in the recording studio.
BOC Tue, 10th Feb '04, 9:39pm The song was included in the LP "Chinatown" released by Phonogram in 1980 and it was recorded at Good Earth Studios, Soho, London W1, UK :D . The guitarist of the band was Snowy White and I'm not sure if Gary Moore gave a hand during the recordings. BTW, "Killer on the loose" (from the same LP} realy rocks.
Sarevok• Tue, 10th Feb '04, 10:48pm You got it 100%! Yeah the album rocks, one of my favorites. Kind of album you can listen to without flicking through the tracks.
BOC Wed, 11th Feb '04, 5:02pm Let's continue then.
Big Jim’s been drinkin’ whiskey
And playing poker on a losin’ night
Pretty soon, big Jim starts a thinkin’
Somebody been cheatin’ and lyin’
Splunge Wed, 11th Feb '04, 5:25pm My initial reaction was "Don't Mess Around With Jim" by Jim Croce, but now that I think about it, it sounds more like Saturday Night Special by Lynyrd Skynyrd (sp?)
BOC Wed, 11th Feb '04, 5:31pm Lynyrd Skynyrd is the correct answer Splunge, your turn to post. :)
Splunge Wed, 11th Feb '04, 5:39pm WooHoo! Finally knew one! :D
If manners make the man as someone said
Then he’s the hero of the day
It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile
Be yourself no matter what they say
BOC Wed, 11th Feb '04, 5:46pm This the only Sting's song that I like, "Englishman in New York"
Splunge Wed, 11th Feb '04, 5:53pm Got it again?!? From now on I’m going to attach a caveat to my posted lyrics – BOC can’t give an answer. :p
You're up. :D
BOC Wed, 11th Feb '04, 5:56pm Far beyond these castle walls
Where the distant harbour meets the sky
There the battle raged like hell
And every dove had lost it’s will to fly
EDIT
Perhaps it's time for a hint. American hard rock band from Chicago, who began their career in the early 70s and they continue until today. Their hit and most famous song is "Boat on the river". As for this particular song you can find its title among the above lyrics.
[ February 12, 2004, 18:35: Message edited by: BOC ]
Splunge Thu, 12th Feb '04, 10:33pm I wouldn't have picked Boat on the River as their most famous song, but the band is Styx, and I think they had a song called Castle Walls (or someting like that) so I'll go with that.
BOC Fri, 13th Feb '04, 5:46am You are right Splunge.
Splunge Fri, 13th Feb '04, 2:13pm Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
Baldrak Fri, 13th Feb '04, 2:37pm Metallica - Nothing else matters
Splunge Fri, 13th Feb '04, 2:42pm Not a knock on you, Baldrak, but that was probably way too easy.
Go.
Baldrak Fri, 13th Feb '04, 2:46pm Probably too easy, but here it comes...
The king is gone but he's not forgotten
This is the story of Johnny Rotten
Splunge Fri, 13th Feb '04, 2:48pm Neil Young, Hey Hey My My (or someting like that)
Baldrak Fri, 13th Feb '04, 2:56pm Yep, your turn again...
Splunge Fri, 13th Feb '04, 3:00pm I’m not sure how hard this will be, since
1. It’s old (big surprise there), and
2. I’m don't know how well-known the band (or this song) is outside of Canada.
Anyway, here it goes:
What will be they say will be
But I'm for you and you're for me
Evolution insane
And we go on and play the game
Sarevok• Fri, 13th Feb '04, 3:22pm april wine
say hello
Splunge Fri, 13th Feb '04, 3:27pm Yup. Go!
Sarevok• Fri, 13th Feb '04, 3:32pm So we reply
I know that my life make you nervous
But I tell you that I can't live in service
Splunge Tue, 17th Feb '04, 3:05pm I think we need a hint.
Sarevok• Tue, 17th Feb '04, 10:50pm I think so to but I can't reply to my own post otherwise I would have posted one sooner.
It has been ages now so I will just give you the answer and you can go ahead and post.
The Clash -
Rudie Can't Fail
Splunge Tue, 17th Feb '04, 10:59pm Sarevok-, since you stumped us, I think you should get to post again; just make it an easy one. :D
Sarevok• Tue, 17th Feb '04, 11:17pm Easy one! Here we go -
After all overqualified for the position
Your dreams see fruition
Mere class on a higher plane
Everyone wants to know your name
Splunge Tue, 17th Feb '04, 11:22pm You and I have very different definitions of the word "easy" :shake:
Sarevok• Tue, 17th Feb '04, 11:29pm It is the kind of tune that just immediately clicks in your brain when you here it. It is a Daft Punkish style kind of tune.
Alavin Wed, 18th Feb '04, 12:42am I think it's Flawless by the Ones. It was played on the radio a lot...
Sarevok• Wed, 18th Feb '04, 6:49am Yeah, go
Alavin Wed, 18th Feb '04, 2:28pm Shaking like a dog s***ting razor blades
Waking up next to nothing
I don't know how famous this is... might be easy, might not.
Harbourboy Thu, 19th Feb '04, 2:14pm No idea - a clue might be needed.
Erebus Thu, 19th Feb '04, 2:42pm Radio by Alkaline Trio
Harbourboy Thu, 19th Feb '04, 2:47pm Who? I have never heard of them.
Erebus Thu, 19th Feb '04, 2:51pm Another obscur punk pop band who comes out of nowhere, never really achieves anything, then disappears.
Alavin Thu, 19th Feb '04, 5:15pm Radio indeed. I wouldn't call them obscure - most of my friends have heard of them.
Sarevok• Thu, 19th Feb '04, 6:19pm It is not a good idea putting lyrics from obscure bands like that.
Baezlebub Fri, 20th Feb '04, 3:31am Good call Sarevok_, you not ever placing obscure 80s metal lyrics in...
Alkaline Trio arent that obscure, but the lyrics weren't that clear.
Erebus Fri, 20th Feb '04, 1:29pm If I'm next...
"Momma take this badge from
I can't use it anymore..."
Harbourboy Fri, 20th Feb '04, 1:31pm Knocking on Heaven's Door?
by loads of people including Bob Dylan and Guns n Roses.
Erebus Fri, 20th Feb '04, 3:21pm Yup
Harbourboy Fri, 20th Feb '04, 3:31pm "None of them received a hero's welcome"
Erebus Fri, 20th Feb '04, 4:03pm I now that song! The really wierd one by Paul Hardcastle, but I can't remember the title...
Harbourboy Fri, 20th Feb '04, 4:04pm Come on! The title is the easiest part! Getting Paul Hardcastle is the hard part . . . .
Baldrak Fri, 20th Feb '04, 5:25pm 19 by Paul Hardcastle
Harbourboy Fri, 20th Feb '04, 11:52pm Yes. Too easy. What a classic. 25 miles west of Saigon . . doesn't really know what's going on .... Purple Heart . . Saigon.....
Anyway - sorry, it's your turn!
Baldrak Sat, 21st Feb '04, 9:06am Another easy one:
Nothin' proper about ya propaganda
Baezlebub Sat, 21st Feb '04, 9:28am That screams punk. Dead Kennedeys perhaps?
Baldrak Sat, 21st Feb '04, 11:52am No, not the Dead Kennedys.
Sarevok• Sat, 21st Feb '04, 3:16pm rage against the machine
bullet in your head
Baldrak Sat, 21st Feb '04, 4:38pm Yes, you're right!
Sarevok• Sat, 21st Feb '04, 4:47pm Ain't not know
Ain't about you
You don't know
That about me
I don't know
That about you
Clue = DJ - Dutch maybe?
[ February 22, 2004, 16:16: Message edited by: Sarevok- ]
Harbourboy Mon, 23rd Feb '04, 5:42pm Never heard of it. Plus your clue doesn't help me because I don't know any Dutch DJs (well, I don't think I do.)
Sarevok• Mon, 23rd Feb '04, 8:39pm Here is another clue - the video had a red sofa in it. Big sofa? Maybe..? I think Americans and Aussies have a different name for sofas but I don’t know what it is.
Xei Win Toh Mon, 23rd Feb '04, 8:53pm Dutch DJ = Ötzi? No idea about a title though...
And is "Couch" the American/Aussie word you're looking for?
Baldrak Mon, 23rd Feb '04, 9:03pm Random Dutch DJ: DJ Paul?
Sarevok• Tue, 24th Feb '04, 5:31pm Wrong wrong! Another clue? - Maybe he likes motorola cell phones?
Yerril Tue, 24th Feb '04, 6:25pm Wild guess - Paul Van Dyk
Sarevok• Tue, 24th Feb '04, 8:13pm Ah yes it is indeed but the song? :> It had a lot of radio play and mtv etc. It was in 2002, in the video you have PVD sitting on a red sofa with some other people. Name it!
Master of Nuhn Wed, 25th Feb '04, 3:02am I remember 'We're alive' (take a deep breath) and 'Tell me why', but these are both in 2000/2001. And there are no such lyrics.
Sarevok• Wed, 25th Feb '04, 5:26pm The song is "we are alive"
Anyone take a go.
Master of Nuhn Wed, 25th Feb '04, 6:29pm Darn, well, okay. Here comes:
Music makes you happy
or it can make you sad.
It can turn your worst day
to the best you ever had.
For entertainment value,
If I had to choose,
you and me might disagree
'cause I like rhythm and blues
Now I'm not dissin' disco
not saying punk is bunk
I can't settle for heavy metal
'cause I gotta have that funk.
An oldie, Jack knows
Sarevok• Wed, 25th Feb '04, 6:53pm Michael Jackson comes to mind
Splunge Wed, 25th Feb '04, 7:13pm I think it's from a band I haven't listened to in a looong time (I only have their stuff on vinyl, but I don't have a turntable anymore) -
Tower of Power.
I can't for the life of me remember what the song is called, though.
Master of Nuhn Thu, 26th Feb '04, 12:35am Splunge is Correct on the artists.
Hint: Take it to the bridge! (Vague, I know, but perhaps you can dig it?)
Erebus Thu, 26th Feb '04, 8:39am Soul With A Capital S by Tower of Power
Master of Nuhn Thu, 26th Feb '04, 10:03am Correct! Your turn Erebus. :)
(And how could I be so stupid to give a hint that had nothing to do with 'Soul wit a capital S'? The hint I gave would be better for 'stil diggin' on James Brown', also by ToP.)
Erebus Thu, 26th Feb '04, 1:03pm Alrighty then...
"Never trust freedom when its not in your hands
And everyone's fighting for a holy land."
Telcontar Fri, 27th Feb '04, 1:45pm Guns n Roses
Erebus Fri, 27th Feb '04, 2:10pm Right, but which song?
Iago Fri, 27th Feb '04, 6:21pm Civil war
