View Full Version : The Quote Game 3
JSBB Fri, 19th Dec '03, 2:03pm First, here is a copy of the rules as set out by Death Rabbit's post at the beginning of Quote Game2.
Someone posts a quote from a movie (no TV shows, music, etc). If you know the movie it came from, and post the answer correctly, then and ONLY then may you post a quote of your own. Unless you're 100% sure you're correct, don't post a quote of your own until you are confirmed correct by the original quoter.
If it's your turn, you must respond with a new quote within 1 day (24 hours) to keep the thread going. Otherwise the thread may be hijacked by the next available impatient jackass.
If the person who's quote you've responded to does not confirm that you are correct within 24 hours of your answer, you are then assumed correct by default, provided no one else chimes in with the correct answer within that time or disputes your answer.
Additional Rule proposed by Death Rabbit and seconded by JSBB:
Using a search engine to find the quote is not allowed. The fun of the game is based on our love of useless movie trivia, and thus using a search engine to look up quotes you don't already know is cheating.
After you have posted your answer, feel free to use a search engine to confirm that you are correct but please do not post an answer if you have found it via a search engine. If you do not know an answer and decide to use a search engine to look it up for your own interest/amusement, please do not post the answer here. Obviously there is no way to monitor this so we will rely upon the honor system.

Death Rabbit Fri, 19th Dec '03, 3:03pm Yup. Go Oxy.
Oxymore Sat, 20th Dec '03, 9:36am Uh uh. It may have come up before but I'm out of ideas:
Ok, so I was wrong about the Archbishop's bottom!
Mesmero Sat, 20th Dec '03, 2:47pm Johnny English?
Oxymore Sun, 21st Dec '03, 12:11am Right you are, my northern neighbor.
Fire away.
Mesmero Sun, 21st Dec '03, 9:52am "You think I want to go to the stars? I don't even like to fly; I take trains."
Vukodlak Sun, 21st Dec '03, 1:58pm Star Trek first contact (number 8 if I'm not mistaken?)
Mesmero Sun, 21st Dec '03, 2:07pm Correct.
Your turn.
Vukodlak Mon, 22nd Dec '03, 11:40pm I remember Paris perfectly. The Germans wore grey, you wore blue.
Grey Magistrate Tue, 23rd Dec '03, 2:42am A grey fella like me recognizes the black-and-white Casablanca...vive la France!
Vukodlak Tue, 23rd Dec '03, 12:42pm Absolutely right - go grey.
Grey Magistrate Tue, 23rd Dec '03, 11:03pm I know - it's called a cruel irony. Like my dependence on you.
Baezlebub Fri, 26th Dec '03, 7:40am Is that The Emporer's New Groove?
JSBB Mon, 29th Dec '03, 7:37pm @ Baezlebub
I did a google search and it appears that you are correct. Regardless, the 24 hour confirmation period is up so please proceed.
Baezlebub Tue, 30th Dec '03, 1:33am I knew I was right. I watched it last night. I just couldn't post again to revive the post, so I was waiting until someone else posted.
"PJ! I like that, you know I do! Hiss, put it on my luggage!"
Grey Magistrate Tue, 30th Dec '03, 3:10am Robin Hood!
OK, here's another easy Disney one:
I'm a big, tough girl. I tie my own sandals and everythin'.
Aldazar Tue, 30th Dec '03, 3:39am Aahhh, Hercules. Very fun film.
Next one:
You have to think about one shot. One shot is what it's all about.
Baezlebub Tue, 30th Dec '03, 7:32am Deerhunter?
Oxymore Tue, 30th Dec '03, 10:26pm League of extraodinary gentlemen?
Aldazar Wed, 31st Dec '03, 1:48am Take it Baezlebub!
Baezlebub Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 5:23am It's cheap , like the budgee.
Baldrak Mon, 5th Jan '04, 11:04am I think it's time for a hint...
Loerand Mon, 5th Jan '04, 4:00pm Sniper?
Aldazar Tue, 6th Jan '04, 2:43am Definitely time for a hint.
Rallymama Tue, 6th Jan '04, 3:31pm Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
Give me a little time to come up with something GOOD
Baezlebub Tue, 6th Jan '04, 3:32pm I couldn't do much more than wait, I can't double post...
Rallymama Tue, 6th Jan '04, 5:28pm OK, here you go...
The trained mind does not need a watch. Watches are a confidence trick invented by the Swiss.
JSBB Tue, 6th Jan '04, 5:32pm Is that from Remo Williams?
Blackthorne TA Tue, 6th Jan '04, 5:40pm Technically, it's from "Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins" :)
Iago Tue, 6th Jan '04, 5:44pm The confidence boost is Ricola and the other guy is Remo, dangerous, even more so when unarmed. Or at least that's because movie-companies used a google ancestor for movie translations.
JSBB Tue, 6th Jan '04, 6:28pm I think this is a bit too easy but I will try it.
" You have much more hair in your nose than my dad.
How nice of you to notice.
I'm a kid, that's my job."
Death Rabbit Tue, 6th Jan '04, 6:30pm Uncle Buck! God I miss that show. Gimme a sec...
"Oh, god I'm so dead. I'm so dead they're gonna have to bury me twice."

Death Rabbit Tue, 6th Jan '04, 10:40pm Rush Hour 2?
dman18 Tue, 6th Jan '04, 10:42pm Damn you and your quick replies!
Your go...
Death Rabbit Wed, 7th Jan '04, 3:34pm Hmmm....
"How's daddy gonna react when he finds out his pride and joy is a fudge packer?"
The Great Snook Wed, 7th Jan '04, 4:31pm ROFL.
I have no idea what this one is, but I may have to see the movie once I find out.
Edit:
Uh Oh! I may need a ruling on this one. According to a reliable source and a movie expert (Mrs. Snook) this quote is actually from a deleted scene from a movie. Is that allowed?
[ January 07, 2004, 21:07: Message edited by: The Great Snook ]
JSBB Wed, 7th Jan '04, 9:11pm We have had quotes from the extended versions of the Lord of the Rings films before but I don't know if that should be considered to have set a precedent. I would say that extended versions of films should be fair game but I wouldn't consider a deleted scene to be part of the film. However, that is just my opinion.
For the quote in question, I don't know if it is only found in the deleted scenes but I was able to easily find the source of the quote using google so it is, at the very least, taken from a commonly quoted deleted scene.
Death Rabbit Wed, 7th Jan '04, 9:16pm I agree with JSBB on the ruling, that sounds fair. Extended edition is okay, deleted scenes are not, IMO. I think people are much more likely to see an extended edition of a film than go looking for deleted scenes.
And no, this quote is not from a deleted scene, as the movie I got it from doesn't have any extended edition OR deleted scenes that I'm aware of. If you have a guess, Snook, go ahead. I'll give a hint if you want one.
Baezlebub Thu, 8th Jan '04, 12:18pm A hint would be well deserved, methinks.
The Great Snook Thu, 8th Jan '04, 12:44pm My source believes it is a deleted scene from Cruel Intentions.
Death Rabbit Thu, 8th Jan '04, 3:17pm Well kiss your source Snook, because she's correct, sort of. It is from the movie Cruel Intentions, but not from a deleted scene. Your turn.
The Great Snook Thu, 8th Jan '04, 4:30pm "Well look who got beaten with the ugly stick. Bob, is that you? My God, I can't believe such an itty bitty gun could make such a big mess out of someone! You are so ugly Bob! Oh and hey I heard you have one of those poop bags where the **** comes out the side, you're just a big old ****bag aren't you Bob! I hope you think of me every time you **** in that thing mother****er!"
JSBB Thu, 8th Jan '04, 5:31pm That quote is from Freeway.
"Why Albania?
Why not?
What have they done to us?
What have they done for us? What do you know about them?
Nothing!
See, they keep to themselves, shifty, untrustable!"
Rallymama Thu, 8th Jan '04, 5:52pm I'm guessing "Wag the Dog"
JSBB Thu, 8th Jan '04, 5:55pm You got it Rallymama.
Rallymama Thu, 8th Jan '04, 7:24pm "That's a pretty big butt."
Death Rabbit Thu, 8th Jan '04, 7:39pm Finding Nemo?
Rallymama Thu, 8th Jan '04, 7:51pm Damn, I was hoping to distract some your minds back into the gutter. ;) Take it away, DR...
Death Rabbit Thu, 8th Jan '04, 8:03pm He he, not when I have a girlfriend and her niece who like watching that show almost daily since I bought them the DVD.
Hmmmm......the gutter, you say?
What am I talkin' about? I'm talkin' about sex boy, what the hell you talkin' about? I'm talkin' about l'amour! I'm talkin' that me and [wife] are swingers, as in "to swing." I'm talkin' about wife swappin'. I'm talkin' about what they call nowadays "open marriage."
Mesmero Thu, 8th Jan '04, 8:09pm I think that movie was called Raising Arizona. I know what the movie was about, I'm just not entirely sure about the name.
Death Rabbit Thu, 8th Jan '04, 8:10pm Yup. Correct name. Bring it!
Mesmero Thu, 8th Jan '04, 9:14pm "This is great. Usually it's just cardboard walls in a garage."
Baldrak Thu, 8th Jan '04, 9:19pm Galaxy Quest?
Mesmero Thu, 8th Jan '04, 9:31pm That was pretty quick... and correct.
Baldrak Thu, 8th Jan '04, 9:38pm Were you born worthless, or did you have to work at it?

JSBB Tue, 13th Jan '04, 4:22pm I was thinking of the first one but (a) close enough and (b) it wouldn't surprise me if they repeated the quote in the sequal
Your turn Defspeal
Defspeal Tue, 13th Jan '04, 4:36pm Sorry this is real easy but its the only thing I can think of
"Tomorrow will be the most beautiful day of Raymond K. Hessell's life. His breakfast will taste better than any meal he has ever eaten."
Death Rabbit Tue, 13th Jan '04, 4:43pm Fight Club.
"No no, that's ok. That other stuff will probably kill you. Whereas Fruit Loops are quite tasty, and reasonably high in fiber. I care for Apple Jacks a great deal."
JSBB Tue, 13th Jan '04, 5:19pm So I Married an Axe Murderer
I guess I will keep the cooking theme going
"Chefs do that!"
Gonzago Tue, 13th Jan '04, 6:05pm I ran a google search to see what that might be. No luck, but I did come across this:
http://www.planet-zhadum.com/jedichefs/index.html
Malovae Tue, 13th Jan '04, 6:26pm A long kiss goodnight.
Poor tomatoe got it good
Is that Steven Baldwin on the left?
JSBB Tue, 13th Jan '04, 6:31pm My quote is indeed from The Long Kiss Goodnight.
Malovae Tue, 13th Jan '04, 7:03pm "Whats the matter can't sleep?"
"Just need a little clarity"
"true, true, true, true, yeh..... you want the customary clarity or the new and improved kind of clarity?"
JSBB Tue, 13th Jan '04, 8:02pm Minority Report?
Malovae Tue, 13th Jan '04, 9:02pm Bingo! You go...
JSBB Tue, 13th Jan '04, 9:28pm Back to food we go..
"I'll blow this place up and be home in time for Corn Flakes!"
Death Rabbit Tue, 13th Jan '04, 9:38pm Hmmm...sounds familiar. It was Ronnie Cox that said it, but I can't remember if it's Robocop or Total Recall. I'll go with the latter.
JSBB Tue, 13th Jan '04, 9:52pm It is from Total Recall. Post away Death Rabbit.
Death Rabbit Tue, 13th Jan '04, 10:06pm Suh-weet. I like this "food" theme, by the way. Fun fun.
"Your Dad was the greatest salesman I ever met. He could sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves."
Softball, kinda.
Aldazar Wed, 14th Jan '04, 1:41am Tommy Boy.
Still haven't been able to watch te whole thing in one sitting though, too many 'distractions'.
Kinda softball:
"Excuse me, are you Hootie?"
Malovae Wed, 14th Jan '04, 10:32am Jerry Maguire?
Death Rabbit Wed, 14th Jan '04, 4:21pm You're right Malovae. Go.
Quick confirmation just to keep the thread going.
Malovae Wed, 14th Jan '04, 4:34pm "Ming? There's no Ming.... thats a f***ing restaurant!"
Baldrak Thu, 15th Jan '04, 11:41am Big trouble in little China?
Malovae Thu, 15th Jan '04, 11:46am No, do I have to give clues after so long?
Gonzago Thu, 15th Jan '04, 2:51pm That'd be nice.
Malovae Thu, 15th Jan '04, 5:40pm The line is said over the phone in an aussie accent
Aldazar Fri, 16th Jan '04, 5:42am Two Hands?
Malovae Fri, 16th Jan '04, 9:19am No, its got murder in it. Alot of murder.
Baezlebub Fri, 16th Jan '04, 9:39am An Aussie accent with a lot of murder in it isn't really that clear.
If it's recent, my guess would be Gettin' Square (aussie film), but I haven't seen it.
Is it an Aussie film, or does it just feature a fake Aussie accent?
Malovae Fri, 16th Jan '04, 9:59am Fake aussie accent. American film. Its supposed to be fague, that why they're called clues :p
The film is about murder really.
edit - whoops, I mean't vague
JSBB Fri, 16th Jan '04, 12:33pm I have this feeling that I have seen the film but I can't quite place it. Sigh, I guess the old memory is starting to go. Given the clues I will guess it is from Natural Born Killers.
Malovae Fri, 16th Jan '04, 1:17pm You've got it right my friend - I was getting a bit worried there :D
JSBB Fri, 16th Jan '04, 4:23pm "I have foresworn myself, I have broken every law I have sworn to uphold, I have become what I beheld and I am content that I have done right!"
The Kilted Crusader Fri, 16th Jan '04, 5:10pm The Untouchables?
JSBB Fri, 16th Jan '04, 5:43pm You got it Morningstar
The Kilted Crusader Fri, 16th Jan '04, 6:51pm Yay!
"Kings to you, Fernard"
Gonzago Fri, 16th Jan '04, 9:55pm The Count of Monte Cristo.
I'm leaving for the weekend shortly, and I'm going to assume this is right, since it is. And if you're sure mine's right, don't wait for me to reply. (There will be hell to pay, naturally, if you're wrong. :D )
Who ever heard of a schnozberry?
Baezlebub Sat, 17th Jan '04, 12:27am Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory
Ah Ha! The cleverness of me!
Gonzago Sat, 17th Jan '04, 7:57pm Right you are....king's to you, then...
Rallymama Sun, 18th Jan '04, 10:32pm OK, it's been 24 hrs. since the confirmation and I'm invoking the IJ clause because I'm still chuckling after hearing this line last night:
"I stand corrected. This is a horse. You are an imbecile."
Gonzago Mon, 19th Jan '04, 2:08pm It just occurred to me that "Aha, the cleverness of me!" might be the line rather than self-satisfaction at knowing the Wonka quote.
Rallymama Mon, 19th Jan '04, 3:05pm ...and you would be right in that supposition, Gonzago, as a quick search confirmed. /me blushes.
Funny thing, I didn't think that movie had actually been released yet!
Aldazar Mon, 19th Jan '04, 11:11pm I'm guessing then that the quote that's 'on the table' is the cleverness one? And since it's not been named yet, it's Peter Pan.
Baezlebub Tue, 20th Jan '04, 1:02am Serve me right for not coming in here more often otherwise I would have made the correction. Sorry, next time it'll be in inverted commas. Yes, it is Peter Pan, and it was released in December (here).
Your go Aldazar.
Rallymama Wed, 21st Jan '04, 12:43pm Since Aldazar hasn't responded, I guess my premature IJ attempt at usurping the game still stands:
"I stand corrected. This is a horse. You are an imbecile.";)
Malovae Wed, 21st Jan '04, 6:25pm I recognise the line for some reason - can we have a clue in a few hours if no one has got it? Please?
Rastor Wed, 21st Jan '04, 6:31pm Wasn't that quote on an episode of "The Simpsons"?
Rallymama Wed, 21st Jan '04, 7:58pm It's not the Simpsons because that's a TV show, not a movie. This film *IS* animated, and it's *NOT* a Disney or Pixar release! I don't know if it ever went into the theatres - might have been a straight-to-video kind of thing, not sure. It was essentially an extended version of a TV episode, after all.
Aldazar Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 3:08am South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut??
Baezlebub Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 9:24am No, I'm thinking The Road To Eldorado.
Rallymama Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 2:24pm No and No :D
Harbourboy Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 2:34pm Some sort of Bugs Bunny or Looney Tunes movie?
Rallymama Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 2:38pm Well, it is Warner Brothers but none of the Looneys are in it. That should be a huge hint!
Harbourboy Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 2:49pm The Quest for Camelot (otherwise known as The Magic Sword)?
Baezlebub Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 2:52pm Hang on... Its a WB cartoon without the Loony Toons? Why should it be worth watching? Wile. E Coyote roxxorz.
Hmm... Batman? No, I doubt that... I can't think of any WB cartoons.
Malovae Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 4:23pm Iron Giant?
Rallymama Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 5:09pm no no no! :D Keep guessing whilst I think of a good hint.
Harbourboy Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 5:18pm The Powerpuff Girls movie?
Malovae Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 5:25pm Osmosis Jones??
Baezlebub Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 4:54am Anastasia?
Rallymama Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 1:30pm You're obviously not thinking the same thing I'm thinking.
(and that was meant to be a hint...)
Harbourboy Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 1:45pm I'm about to give up. I can't think of amy Warner animated movies that are based on a TV series that have no Looney Tunes in them and that may not have had a cinematic release. I'm out of ideas.
Aikanaro Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 1:50pm ... Bananas in Pajamas?
JSBB Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 2:01pm That last clue would have to make it either an Animaniacs or Pinky and the Brain movie but I am unaware of what the film's name would be.
Harbourboy Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 2:06pm Pinky and the Brain Christmas Special?
Rallymama Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 2:18pm YES! You're on the right track with Pinky and the Brain - the Brain did say that quote to Pinky.
But no, it wasn't the Christmas Special. All the Animaniacs were in the movie: Buttons and Mindy, Slappy Squirrel, the Goodfeathers, Dr. Scratchnsniff and Hello Nurse, and of course Yakko, Wakko, and Dot!
"Tell me the story!"
It was "Wakko's Wish"
Take it away, JSBB, since you're the first to correctly interpret my hint.
JSBB Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 2:42pm I actually found the film via IMDB after I did my previous post but I don't answer if I have to look it up.
Lets try
"A fine magician you are! Go back to juggling apples!"
Gonzago Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 2:45pm Willow?
Harbourboy Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 2:45pm Damn. I recognise this. It's quite an old movie, I think.
JSBB Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 2:56pm It is not Willow. I is not a current film and while I personally would not label it as old (I reserve that label for films from the 60s and earlier) it was made before several people who post on these boards were born so I guess you could call it that.
Harbourboy Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 2:58pm It's some cheesy old-ish fantasy movie (there were loads of these in the 80s). I'm just going to have to start listing them out.
Starting with the grand-daddy of them all:
"Conan The Barbarian"?
JSBB Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 3:00pm It is not from Conan the Barbarian but you are on the right track.
Death Rabbit Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 3:03pm Krull?
JSBB Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 3:04pm It is not from Krull.
Harbourboy Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 3:06pm Um, "Conan the Destroyer"?
JSBB Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 3:09pm Yes, you got it Harbourboy.
Harbourboy Fri, 23rd Jan '04, 3:15pm OK, here goes:
"What happened to Spiderman?"
EDIT: Also from the same film:
"You still don't get it, do you . . . .she's never been anything but nice to you!"

Baezlebub Sun, 25th Jan '04, 3:27am Is it some sort of animation? It doesn't seem familiar...
Harbourboy Sun, 25th Jan '04, 9:48am Not animated (not in this movie anyway . . that's a clue...). But, it's a pretty famous movie.
Another more familiar quote from the same movie is:
"..walk right side: safe, walk left side: safe.."
Baezlebub Sun, 25th Jan '04, 10:10am Karate Kid! I think...
Harbourboy Sun, 25th Jan '04, 10:15am Well done, my Australian friend. Your turn.
Baezlebub Sun, 25th Jan '04, 10:33am Why do you keep on emphasising that I'm an aussie? I know I am...
Should I bolt every time I get that feeling in my gut when I meet someone new? Well, I've been listening to my gut since I was 14 years old, and frankly speaking, I've come to the conclusion that my guts have s**t for brains.
Harbourboy Sun, 25th Jan '04, 2:16pm Hmmm, I know that is from something I have seen VERY recently.....
School of Rock?
Baezlebub Mon, 26th Jan '04, 2:23am Nope.
Harbourboy Mon, 26th Jan '04, 8:36am Of course - wrong Jack Black movie. Nobody is as self-analysing as Rob from "High Fidelity" which I now have on DVD. I should have got that straight away - I only watched it a couple of days ago.
Baezlebub Mon, 26th Jan '04, 8:57am I love that movie. There are really only so few movies that require ownership. That's one of them.
Knock yourself out Harbourboy.
Harbourboy Mon, 26th Jan '04, 9:52am "My father is an anorexic"
Gonzago Tue, 27th Jan '04, 2:05pm Nobody's biting...hints, please.
Harbourboy Tue, 27th Jan '04, 3:02pm Very very recent movie. Well received by critics, even though those particular words were spoken by someone who also appeared in Scary Movie.
Gonzago Tue, 27th Jan '04, 3:15pm Lost in Translation?
Harbourboy Tue, 27th Jan '04, 3:18pm Yes - words spoken by Anna Faris in one of the few funny scenes in that movie.
Gonzago Tue, 27th Jan '04, 3:29pm I knew it sounded familiar. It was the Scary Movie hint that locked it.
An easy one:
"What is best in life?"
"To crush your enemies, drive them before you, and hear the lamentations of the women."
Rallymama Tue, 27th Jan '04, 3:34pm Conan the Barbarian
I like persons better than principles and persons with no principles better than anything at all.
Harbourboy Tue, 27th Jan '04, 4:07pm Sounds like something Groucho Marx would say (or someone trying to copy him).
A Night at the Opera?
Rallymama Tue, 27th Jan '04, 6:07pm It's not Night at the Opera or any other Marx Brothers movie, but I can see putting Groucho on a platform near the author of this quote (for it is indeed a move derived from a book), when considering the realm of witty social commentary.
Harbourboy Wed, 28th Jan '04, 9:35am Hmmm, no ideas. Could be anything. Might be too intellectual for me.
JSBB Wed, 28th Jan '04, 11:08am The Picture of Dorian Gray?
Harbourboy Wed, 28th Jan '04, 11:19am Isn't he that immortal dude from The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?
Rallymama Wed, 28th Jan '04, 1:50pm Take it away, JSBB!
JSBB Thu, 29th Jan '04, 2:06am @ Harbourboy - Yes it is the character that is the basis for the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen character although I would not go so far as to say that anyone in that film is remotely like the literary character that he/she is based upon.
My quote is
"You paid us more than if you had been telling us the truth, and enough more to make it alright!"
Aldazar Thu, 29th Jan '04, 2:33am The Maltese Falcon.
Next:
"You're lucky it was just me who figured it. Otherwise you would have had all three of us for wedding guests"
Harbourboy Thu, 29th Jan '04, 7:11am No idea. Might need a clue shortly.
Arabwel Thu, 29th Jan '04, 11:52am That Ray Coleman guy in Domestic Disturbance, or somesuch... can't recall properly.
Gonzago Thu, 29th Jan '04, 9:03pm Hey, Aldazar, how 'bout some hints...this thread's about to die.
Baldrak Thu, 29th Jan '04, 10:41pm I googled the quote and Arabwel is right...
Aldazar Fri, 30th Jan '04, 1:11am Yeah, sorry it took a bit for me to get back, it was actually Steve Buscemi but it was definitely Domestic Disturbance
Arabwel Fri, 30th Jan '04, 6:55am Well, at least got the source right... So I get a go? Wheee!
"So, the moral of the story is, don't be a dick, Dick."
:p
Harbourboy Fri, 30th Jan '04, 9:11am Mrs Doubtfire?
Baldrak Fri, 30th Jan '04, 9:41am Ghostbusters?
JSBB Fri, 30th Jan '04, 10:08pm xXx?
Aldazar Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 2:10am xXx.
JSBB Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 11:13am I imagine that this one will be solved in no time but lets try
"When the Pirates Of The Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists."
Apeman Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 12:37pm Jurassic Park
Someone else may take this turn, haven't got the inspiration, and when I do, I won't have access to the internet.
Gonzago Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 2:49pm Well, since the invitation is open, and I suck sufficiently to where I visit this thread regularly and hardly ever know the answer...
Here's the hanging curve ball...:
"I just figured out why you give me so much trouble. [...] I'm used to fighting gangs for local charities, that sort of thing."
Harbourboy Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 3:07pm No idea, mate. I don't recognise that one.
Gonzago Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 6:59pm All right, since it's not really my turn anyway, another quote from the same movie, same scene:
"In the meantime, sleep well and dream of large women."
Death Rabbit Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 7:03pm Ah...the Princess Bride then. Right?
JSBB Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 11:13pm Definitely the Princess Bride.
Death Rabbit Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 11:26pm Aight. Here we go.
"Nigga, I told you - my mutha's mutha's mutha's mutha was black. Ya see...color is a state of mind."
Aldazar Wed, 4th Feb '04, 3:27am Go?
Death Rabbit Wed, 4th Feb '04, 3:19pm Yup. Go. (heh) I mean, your turn.
Aldazar Wed, 4th Feb '04, 11:21pm ALright, I'll try to post a softball because I may not be back for a few days:
"Put the rag in the busket. Put the bottle in the busket. Here's $500. Get a hotel room take a shower get a suit get a f***in job. If I ever see ya on this street corner again, I'll f***in shoot ya."
In case it's a bit difficult, here's a hint:

A Christopher Walken film
Baezlebub Thu, 5th Feb '04, 8:46pm That sounds so familiar! Dammit, I can't think of it. It's the word busket that rings a bell...
Gonzago Thu, 5th Feb '04, 9:24pm King of New York?
Baezlebub Fri, 6th Feb '04, 10:42am Argh!!! I still can't remember it! I have figured out that it has Dennis Leary in it, but that doesn't get me any closer.
JSBB Fri, 6th Feb '04, 1:20pm If it had Leary and Walken in it the only thing that comes to my mind would be Suicide Kings.
Baezlebub Sat, 7th Feb '04, 12:03am Thats it! Dammit, I couldn't remember that bloody name! Anyway, this should pass for confirmation, shouldn't it? Aldazar is going to be gone for a while...
JSBB Sat, 7th Feb '04, 11:42am Lets try
"My partner here, he's got a nose just like a bloodhound, and the rest of his face don't look so good, either!"
Baldrak Sat, 7th Feb '04, 5:26pm Turner & Hooch?
JSBB Sat, 7th Feb '04, 7:42pm No, it is not from Turner and Hooch.
Vukodlak Sun, 8th Feb '04, 4:43pm A Marx brothers quote if I ever heard one :D
Hmmm, lemme see - A night at the opera?
JSBB Sun, 8th Feb '04, 9:26pm Not A Night at the Opera but you are on the right track.
Baezlebub Tue, 10th Feb '04, 12:17am Duck Soup?
JSBB Tue, 10th Feb '04, 1:30am It is Duck Soup.
Baezlebub Tue, 10th Feb '04, 6:30am For sure. Time for us to have a quote.
[i]
"Reminiscing this and that and having such a good time, oodelally oodelally golly what a day..." [Out of song]
Baldrak Tue, 10th Feb '04, 10:04am Mary Poppins?
Xei Win Toh Tue, 10th Feb '04, 12:19pm The Robin Hood movie by Disney.
Rallymama Fri, 13th Feb '04, 1:33pm Here's an Impatient Jackass softball for you, just to get the game rolling again.
The world is made for people who aren't cursed with self-awareness.
Splunge Fri, 13th Feb '04, 2:32pm The Matrix?
Gonzago Fri, 13th Feb '04, 6:34pm Taking a hint from your post, it wouldn't be Jackass, would it?
Death Rabbit Fri, 13th Feb '04, 6:47pm @ Gonzie
The "jackass" refers to the "Impatient Jackass" clause in the rules of the quote game. Check it out on the first page of the thread.
In any case, the quote is from Bull Durham.
Here's a fairly easy one, but a great one nonetheless. In fact, probably one of the best lines I've ever heard.
"We're both sticking to our guns. The difference is...mine are loaded."
Baldrak Fri, 13th Feb '04, 6:56pm The Contender?
Gonzago Sat, 14th Feb '04, 10:38am @DR. Yeah. I knew that. Sure. I just like to say "Jackass."
Death Rabbit Mon, 16th Feb '04, 3:15pm @ Gonzie - :D
@ Baldrak - :thumb: Go.
Baldrak Mon, 16th Feb '04, 10:55pm "You saved his life"
"I didn't let them kill him, and that's not the same thing"
Jaguar Mon, 16th Feb '04, 11:07pm Going western are we?
Once Upon a Time in the West
Jill: You saved his life.
Harmonica: I didn't let them kill him, and that's not the same thing.
A classic.
Baldrak Mon, 16th Feb '04, 11:17pm Yep, I'm in a western mood...
Jaguar, Go!
Jaguar Tue, 17th Feb '04, 12:20am Here we go.
"C'mon! It's time to make your opening statement. C'mon Vin!"
"Uh, everything that guys says is bullsh*t. Thank you."
(I expect Beren to know this one)
Vukodlak Tue, 17th Feb '04, 12:37am My Cousin Vinny
Try this:
'When I say "I made you" you gotta say "you made me." How childish can you get?'
JSBB Tue, 17th Feb '04, 1:14am Batman?
Vukodlak Wed, 18th Feb '04, 12:00am Yup, joker giving his psychological appraisal of the situation at hand.
You're up.
JSBB Wed, 18th Feb '04, 1:26am "I hit him over the head with a frying pan and put him in the trunk so he wouldn't get hurt"
Malovae Wed, 18th Feb '04, 1:29am Independance day?
Aldazar Wed, 18th Feb '04, 1:34am Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Malovae Wed, 18th Feb '04, 1:39am your right, my search engine is crap :nolike:
Aldazar Wed, 18th Feb '04, 2:04am I take it that means it's my turn?
In case that's true here's a softball:
Check the angular vector of the moon!
Jaguar Wed, 18th Feb '04, 5:21am Zarkov from Flash Gordon.
Death Rabbit Wed, 18th Feb '04, 6:36pm your right, my search engine is crap Cheater cheater pumpkin eater. :nono:
/me goes off to ammend the rules.
JSBB Wed, 18th Feb '04, 11:25pm Additional Rule proposed by Death Rabbit and seconded by JSBB:
Using a search engine to find the quote is not allowed. The fun of the game is based on our love of useless movie trivia, and thus using a search engine to look up quotes you don't already know is cheating.
After you have posted your answer, feel free to use a search engine to confirm that you are correct but please do not post an answer if you have found it via a search engine. If you do not know an answer and decide to use a search engine to look it up for your own interest/amusement, please do not post the answer here. Obviously there is no way to monitor this so we will rely upon the honor system.
Aldazar Thu, 19th Feb '04, 2:00am @Jaguar - Correct!
Your go.
As for rule ammendment, isn't that just a matter of honesty anyway? I didn't realise we actually had people who would 'cheat' in such a way AND mention it. Personally, the only thing I use search engines for in this game is to check correctness and validity of my own quotes.
Jaguar Thu, 19th Feb '04, 6:51am I agree with the ones above. The only reason that I would say that I used a search engine is to hide the fact that I saw a pathetic movie.
Anyways, here we go.
"Sir, are you classified as a human?"
"Negative. I am a meat popsicle."
Baezlebub Thu, 19th Feb '04, 6:57am Sounds like a bad Sly Stallone line from that movie with Wesley Snipes... Demolition man or whatever.
Jaguar Thu, 19th Feb '04, 10:21am Not Sly. But nice try.
Harbourboy Thu, 19th Feb '04, 10:25am No, I think you're on the right track. I think it is from some dodgy 1990s sci-fi movie though. But which one?
Judge Dredd?
No, that would be Sly again.
JSBB Thu, 19th Feb '04, 12:33pm I was thinking about this on the drive into work and this little voice in my head says that the quote is from a Bruce Willis film. I guess that would have to make it from the The Fifth Element.
Am I green?
Baezlebub Fri, 20th Feb '04, 3:33am Hey yeah, that does sound like its from Fifth Element JSBB. Good call. Now we just need the handy dandy confirmation.
Aldazar Fri, 20th Feb '04, 5:52am Yeah, even if this may not count as confirmation - what with me not being the one who actually posted the quote, I saw that a couple of days ago and it's definitely Bruce from The Fifth Element
Jaguar Fri, 20th Feb '04, 9:14am And we have a winner! Really didn't think that it would take you guys that long though.
BTW, sorry it took so long to confirm.
Go JSBB. :D
JSBB Fri, 20th Feb '04, 10:16am "I guess you'd call it and implosive-explosive submolecular device.
Or an atomic bomb!
Hey, that's catchy!"
Harbourboy Fri, 20th Feb '04, 10:26am Ooh ooh, I thought I was the only person in the world who watched and liked that movie!!
The Shadow!! Right?
(Mmmm, Penelope-Ann Miller..........)
[ February 20, 2004, 12:15: Message edited by: Harbourboy ]
JSBB Fri, 20th Feb '04, 12:34pm Yes, it was from The Shadow. I would have preferred to have posted "I'd climb a mountain for a llama!" but that was only on the billboard and not spoken out loud.
Harbourboy Fri, 20th Feb '04, 12:42pm This should be easy, but that's good because it helps keep this thread moving along:
"Let off some steam"
It's a corny classic. I love it.
JSBB Fri, 20th Feb '04, 12:50pm Is that from Commando?
Baldrak Fri, 20th Feb '04, 1:07pm I think you're correct...
I haven't seen Commando in quite a while, but I believe this is what Arnie said after throwing a steel pipe through the Bad Guy and a boiler...
JSBB Fri, 20th Feb '04, 1:10pm That was the scene that I was thinking of but I will wait to hear from Harbourboy as I am not sure if that is the exact wording in Commando and I imagine that line could easily be in many other films.
Harbourboy Fri, 20th Feb '04, 1:10pm Yes you are right. He says "Let off some steam, Bennett" after he throws a steaming pipe through Bennet's torso. Brilliant.
JSBB Fri, 20th Feb '04, 1:15pm "This is supposed to be a happy occasion, let's not bicker and argue about who killed who!"
Baldrak Fri, 20th Feb '04, 2:05pm Monty Python and the Holy Grail?
JSBB Fri, 20th Feb '04, 3:55pm It is indeed from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Baldrak Fri, 20th Feb '04, 5:23pm Please put down your weapon. You have twenty seconds to comply.
Death Rabbit Fri, 20th Feb '04, 5:33pm Part of me is thinking Total Recall, but the rest of me is thinking Robocop. I think the rest of me is right.
"Forgive me, your honor. I'm fat."
Baldrak Fri, 20th Feb '04, 5:56pm It was indeed Robocop...
