Right now I'm not talking about soundtrack albums (There is a post for those) But about the best music with a movie scene it's played in. A song that makes the scene wonderfull instead of good.

My 2 favourites:

Gypsy Kings-Hotel California (Spanish) In the big Lebowski (Gezus Bowling scene)

Slim Whitman-I remember You In House of 1000 corpses (The scene in witch they find the dead cheerleaders and the cop get's executed.)

Just a couple to start it off:

The closing song by Neil Young in Philadelphia.

The snap out at the end of Event Horizon. When it jumps into Funky Sh** by the prodigy....Excellent.

Also, the arabic type music in Spy Game was really good.

Movies with the best scores (IMO!):
-Lord of the Rings
-13th Warrior
-Knight's Tale (the score, not the rock...although the rock was good too)
-Braveheart

Ennio Morricone's music to "The Good, the bad and the ugly" and his music to "For a handful of dollars" are both brilliant.

The score to Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon" is also great, especially Händel's "Sarabande".

"Stuck in the middle with you" during the ear scene in Reservoir Dogs! I always loved that song, and now whenever I hear it, it freaks me out!

That "Whoohoo" song in Starship Troopers. It's called "Song 3" or something like that, but I can't remember who performs it.

"When the Man comes around" by Johnny Cash during the opening sequence of the new Dawn of the Dead movie.

That's all I can think of right this second!

Tarantino movies like Kill Bill, certainly Pulp Fiction and such.

Also LotR of course. 13th warrior like someone said. You know, all them.

Also Jay and Silent Bob features some ****ed up music. Just mentioning.

Brilliant use of Popular music in a movie soundtrack.

"Bad Moon Rising" in the Original American Werewolf movie.

"Dude Looks Like a Lady" in Mrs. Doubtfire

"Twist and Shout" in Ferris Bueller's Day Off

I'll think of more later...

I love the song in starship troopers sung by Zoe Poledouris at the dance. It isnt on the soundtrack, as it comes on just after into it. Cant remember its name though.

The snap out at the end of Event Horizon. When it jumps into Funky Sh** by the prodigy....Excellent.You read my mind! That was, i think, the first thing that jumped into my head when i read the first post.

Also, Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart in Donnie Darko, the halloween party scene (just for it's sentiment within the film).
Also same movie, the getting off the school bus scene...i uh, can't remember the name of the song though...whoops.
Finally, Neon Genesis Evangeleon: Death and Rebirth, the end credits sequence, Pachabells Cannon. Most beautifull end credits sequence ever made in my opinion.

If animated movies count, "hallelujah" by John Cale in Shrek

:yot: John Cale? I thought it was Rufus Wainwright...or did he do the non-movie version?

Zurga
Sat, 29th May '04, 5:00am
IIRC hallelujah is a Leonard Cohen song so I'm not quite clear who sang it in Shrek, but I remember that the piano was predominant, so if it was a partnership between Cale and Wainwright, I don't know?

The Killing Moon at the beginning of Donnie Darko was done nicely.

Fight Club credits - The Pixies - Where Is My Mind?

The entire score to Jurassic Park, and some of the songs on the blade runner soundtrack by Vangelis... nothing new mentioned in this post.

I think the theme to halloween is good. But the best has to be "Whats this" from Nightmare before Christmas.

Gary Jules' version of 'Mad World' from Donnie Darko. That song captures the flavor of the movie itself.

Don't remember who actually performed it but the cover of The Stones' "Wild Horses" p[layed during the rollercoaster sequence in Fear fits perfectly into the whole scene.

I think they've all been said, really.
Resevoir Dogs, that ear scene rules.
Joy Division - Love Will Break Us Apart in Donnie Darko. The Church - Under The Milky Way in the previous scene as well.
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, the opening scene. Hundred Mile City - Ocean Colour Scene, iirc.
He Died With A Felafel In His Hand, the beginning and the end, The Stranglers - Golden Brown. Also, Noah Taylor's rendition of Mamas and Papas - California Dreaming
Robin Hood (Disney) - Ooh De Lally

"Hallelujah" - credited as being performed in the film by John Cale - from Shrek always brigns a tear to my eye.

And of course anything where The Pinacolada Song gets played is usually pretty fun.

Also, I love the use of Flagpole Sitta in Disturbing Behaviour but I can't fro the life of me find it on CD anywhere.
