View Full Version : What song can't you get out of your head at the moment? #2 Beren Tue, 1st Jun '04, 7:15pm Currently, I'd have to say "She Sells Sanctuary" by the Cult. [ June 01, 2004, 21:02: Message edited by: Beren ] Bombur Tue, 1st Jun '04, 8:35pm Can't Get It Out Of My Head (ELO). Splunge Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 2:07am Still Superstition by Stevie Wonder. Aldazar Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 4:18am Treaty by Yothu Yindi. Damn radio was playing '90s hour on my way here. Damn good song though. Dark Haired Beauty Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 4:53am Was lying out with some friends down at the cement pond on my day off. We were listening to an oldies station we heard two songs we sang all day. Cocaine by Jackson Browne Sundown by Gordon Lightfoot? Not to sure about the second ones singer but I liked it. lol. Hacken Slash Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 8:33am Nippers... "Cocaine" is by Eric Clapton (she don't lie) Clapton is one of the finest guitarists of the rock and roll era...check out his work with Cream, Derek and the Domnino's and of course, solo. Jackson Browne is best known for "The Loadout/Stay", "Running on Empty" and the "Pretender" "Sundown" was indeed by Gordon Lightfoot, who is really a folk baladeer. If you want to see some true lyricism, check out his "Wreck of the Edmund Firzgerald". Golly, I feel old. Keep listening to "dino rock", and you'll hear things that will amaze you. Takara Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 9:03am Shine on you crazy diamond by Pink Floyd at the moment. Mesmero Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 9:09am A Whiter Shade of Pale, by Procol Harum. And 'Cocaine' is originally from J.J. Cale, but I guess the song is best known from Eric Clapton. The same goes for 'After Midnight', which is also a Cale song covered by Clapton. SleepleSS Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 9:50am A Whiter Shade of Pale, by Procol Harum. such a beautyfull song... Anyway I have that dolphins song in my head: I wish I wish I couls swim Like the dolphins like dolphins could swim We can be heroes, just for one day We can be heroes, just for one day... It's in a commercial that is played a lot on the tv here in holland.... Aikanaro Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 10:30am Sunburn by Fuel. Haven't listened to it in ages... Sir Belisarius Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 10:57am "Take me out" by Franz Ferdinand...It just keeps buzzing around in my head!!! Gehn Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 12:14pm @ Sleepless I think the "Dolphin" song you are talking about is Phillip Glass - Heroes (Aphex Twin remix) or it might just be Phillip Glass's original take. Vocals originaly done by David Bowie of course. Kenixkil Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 12:57pm 'Christmas is all around' from Love Actually... damn. I... must.... get...it....out! Splunge Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 2:32pm @ DHB and HS - Gordon Lightfoot is one of our Canadian folk legends. In addition to the songs mentioned, he has many others - Early Morning Rain, Black Day In July, Canadian Railroad Trilogy - the list goes on and on. :) Septic Yogurt Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 4:04pm Scissor Sisters - Take Your Mama Out... you know when you wake up and a song is just going through your mind... Dark Haired Beauty Wed, 2nd Jun '04, 5:24pm I think it was a different Cocaine song... "You take Sally... I'll take Sue... aint no difference between the two... Cocaine...running all round my brain. Heading up South... Turning down main... lookin for that girl who sells cocaine... Cocaine...running all round my brain... This is more of a funny song than Eric Claptons. Honestly never heard of Gordon Lightfoot or knew who sang the "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" I do like the soulfullness of his voice. ;) Faerus Stoneslammer Thu, 3rd Jun '04, 12:02am "Broken" by Seether f. Benan Fri, 4th Jun '04, 8:30am Song 13 from the latest Blink 182 album, I can't remember what it's called. It's been in my head all night. Aikanaro Fri, 4th Jun '04, 1:02pm Still Sunburn here... It really sucks when the lyrics aren't as good as what you heard them as. Still, very good lyrics if you ignore those two lines or so. Harkle Wed, 9th Jun '04, 6:48pm Everybody's fool by Evanescence. It got stuck in my head after I saw music video of that song first time... the video really made me to think. Aikanaro Thu, 10th Jun '04, 9:07am Hmm, I thought the video of that was really crap (just the fact that they had talking over the song ... still, not as bad as A Perfect Circle's The Outsider) Anyhow, the song I have in my head is one I cannot reveal, as it is the same as what I posted in the song quote game (which I seem to have killed) SleepleSS Thu, 10th Jun '04, 9:44am Everybodies fool's video sucks indeed still the song is really good. I knew that it would be a single the first time I heard the album, wich was long before Bring me to live became a "Hit" here in the Netherlands. I finally have a nice song in my head: Solitary man by Johnny Cash! Yeah! Harkle Thu, 10th Jun '04, 7:43pm Okay, it is also sooo oh-I'm-so-depressed-and-no one-really-likes-me stuff. And yeah, that talking part was really unnecessary. But I liked the idea that Amy appears in tv ads, don't ask me why :p The message of the song touched me (why do we have to look so perfect and show no weaknesses) Dark Haired Beauty Fri, 11th Jun '04, 3:27am "Rescue" by Uncle Cracker  Faerus Stoneslammer Fri, 11th Jun '04, 4:32am I should probably seek help...: same song as my last post (and possibly the one before); "Broken" by Seether f. SleepleSS Sun, 13th Jun '04, 9:05pm There is this girl that I like By Stan Marsh (Southpark Bigger Longer & Uncut) Darkthrone Tue, 15th Jun '04, 7:30am Die Ärzte - Samen im Darm (5, 6, 7, 8 - Bullenstaat) Tassadar Tue, 15th Jun '04, 8:10am Immortal - One by One. Darkthrone Tue, 15th Jun '04, 8:27am Nice one, Tassadar! Sons of Northern Darkness stands out as one of their best efforts, together with Pure Holocaust and Battles in the North. Shame they split. Did anyone hear Horghs new band Grimfist yet? Is it worth buying? Tassadar Tue, 15th Jun '04, 10:22am @ Darkthrone I heard Grimfist's "Ghouls of Grandeur", and wasn't very impressed - maybe I need to listen to it again. Horgh is a phenomenal drummer. I really like his style, he doesn't sound like a programmed drum machine which Nick Barker for all his skills tends to sound like (or maybe it's the production). Anyway, Grimfist. Something was missing, just couldn't quite place it. It's definitely death metal with thrash elements rather than black but I thought it sounded too generic, too bland and got bored. Occasionally there were good moments, but they were too far between. Maybe it's just me. You might like it! SleepleSS Tue, 15th Jun '04, 10:40am OMG. Immortall did split up??? when did that happen?
