The Grudge and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. The Grudge is the first movie since The Exorcist that gave me shivers continously like that. Man, there are some creepy, bizarre scenes. I don't know why this movie got bad reviews; it was the best horror flick since The Ring. I am fast becoming a fan of Japanese horror films.

With a name like "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" I thought, great I'll sit through it. Then while watching it, something happened. This movie had a style that grabbed me and the next thing I knew the story got great. Like the pulp science fiction or comics of the forties. Like Indiana Jones meets Star Wars. Pure fun.

Also saw two movies the week. "Million Dollar Baby" and "Coach Carter". I was really looking forward to MDB but walked away disappointed. Man this movie had so much potential but didn't deliver. Don't get me wrong, there are a few great scenes and the first half was amazing but then: blah. I was there, what the hell just happened to this ride? Maybe it was the hype leading up to it.

Then I walked into Coach Carter. This is the best sports movie since Hoosiers. Delivers with everything. The kids are great, story is engaging, funny dialogue and some great scenes. Sam Jackson better get a lifetime achievement award for all his performances in his movies.

Cool...I've been looking forward to seeing the Grudge, so I'm glad to hear someone liked it. The Exorcist never really did much for me, but the Ring definitely gave me the creeps. I saw it in Puerto Rico and remember it making all the hair on my arm stand up.

I started to watch Sky Captain, but couldn't really get in to it. Maybe I'll give it another shot.
