Also Burn In Hell but this time by Twisted Sisters ;) Although I only have Dimmu Borgir's cover :p

BOC
Thu, 26th Jan '06, 10:17pm
Yep but it's Twisted Sister not Sisters. Dimmu Borgir cover? Fortunately I haven't listened to it, I still remember the shock when I've listened to "Blood of my enemies" by At The Gates IIRC  :flaming: .

Undertaker
Thu, 26th Jan '06, 10:38pm
 Such a mistake. But as for the song, I can't compare cause I only listened to DM version.

Archangel, Dark Angel
Lend me thy light

'Til we have Heaven in sight!

Silly old Undertaker. It's Falkenbach - Of Forests Unknown. Let's try:

You stand alone
The final parody
As you realise - your mortality
For you cannot change your destiny
To die at the hands - of the unknown enemy
Your death - you can't deter
As the silence - returns

Harbourboy

Hallelujah for Splunge. Here is a song I think I remember. It's Supertramp, isn't it? Don't know what the song is called, but it's the one that talks about the golden rule and going to school and not staying out late and wanting to "see it that way."

Splunge
Mon, 13th Feb '06, 2:37am
HB, you have the group, and the right song, but not the one-word title. Hint: in your post, you've actually named the song without realizing it.

Harbourboy
Mon, 13th Feb '06, 2:48am
Are you seriously going to make me go through my last post word by word to get the title? How about "Wanting"?

Splunge
Mon, 13th Feb '06, 2:54am
Hey, it's not me! The rules state you need to name the song. Maybe you should review those rules to further your "education" in this game. (That was intended to be a clever hint, not a snarky response. :p )

Harbourboy

heres a good one.

Harbourboy
Mon, 13th Feb '06, 4:54am
Excuse me. ABBA!? I don't think so.

Mon, 13th Feb '06, 5:15am
Are you looking for the original? The Foundations - 'Build Me Up, Buttercup".

Harbourboy

Goodie. I'm going to sleep with that song in my head, HB.

Two days too long. It was The Ding Dong Song by Gunther. The new quote is:

Well she knows me through and through

And how to please me.

Well I'm getting impatient if no-one else is.
Last track on a reasonably famous album (also the name of the single) released in 1993 by a British artist who performed live at the Brits this year.

I know this one, it is played regularly on the radio but I have never noticed its title or the band. It goes like "Cherokee people, cherokee tribe, proud they live, proud they die".

Yeah, that's the song BOC. Artist and title:

It was also covered by Tim McGraw.

For some reason, all I have to guess is Take a Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed. I dunno if it's because Lou Reed sings those lyrics, Mesmero, or if I'm just mental.

DarkStrider
Fri, 31st Mar '06, 3:39pm
Ooh thanks Kuemp that helps me it's Rocl'N'Roll bu Lou Reed

Mesmero

And we have a winner. I was expecting to hear Velvet Underground as the artist, but Lou Reed is good enough for me.

Take it away DarkStrider.

T2Bruno
Fri, 31st Mar '06, 4:32pm
Velvet Underground did a cover -- Lou Reed did the song in the 70's.

Mesmero
Fri, 31st Mar '06, 6:22pm
Well no actually, the Velvet Underground did it in 1970. Lou Reed's solo version of the song appeared on Rock 'n Roll Animal from the mid-70's. (Unless I'm entirely mistaken of course)

T2Bruno
Fri, 31st Mar '06, 7:07pm
You're right -- I had not realized it was on Loaded. I had mistakenly thought it was originally done when Reed was solo and then covered in the mid-eighties when they got back together again.

Those exact lines come from an old Byrds song called (ironically enough)

So You Want to be a Rock and Roll Star

It's been covered by Tom Petty, Patti Smith and U2 (live anyway). Oh, yes -- for the metal head bunch -- Nazareth paid homage to The Byrds by putting the lines verbatim in one of their songs.

But it's still The Byrds.

BOC
Thu, 4th May '06, 8:24pm
No and no. Look to the Highlands and to Israel for the band ;)

Edit: I just noticed that T2Bruno has mentioned Nazareth, which is the band, so it's the title of the song that remains.

T2Bruno
