Wed, 13th Sep '06, 8:33pm
:D ok, try this: Moby - Porcelain

DarkStrider
Thu, 14th Sep '06, 7:08pm
Methinks it's time for a hint

Death Rabbit
Thu, 14th Sep '06, 7:10pm
The Beach?

Takara
Thu, 14th Sep '06, 7:12pm
ok, the song is a true wonder, shame about the film. I dont know if it featured in the film itself, but was used for the trailer. So any film that showed the trailer would give you that song.

Death Rabbit
Thu, 14th Sep '06, 8:12pm
So does that mean I'm wrong or right? Maybe you didn't see my response before replying to DS...

Takara
Thu, 14th Sep '06, 8:44pm
lol, just saw. You are 100% correct. :thumb:

Striptease :D

Death Rabbit
Fri, 15th Sep '06, 9:08pm
Nope. It may have been in the movie, but I don't recall it and it's not the one I'm thinking of. In fact, I'm pretty sure Striptease came out a few years before this song...

Takara
Fri, 15th Sep '06, 10:33pm
Well DS suggested a film which I havent seen. Men in black 2?

Death Rabbit
Sat, 16th Sep '06, 9:24am
Nope. This song is distinctly listened to in a scene taking place in a car.

Takara
Sun, 17th Sep '06, 12:35pm
Hint please, got no clue here.

Takara
Tue, 19th Sep '06, 5:01pm
Well seeing as this game is going nowhere, when I get up tomorrow I'll have to IJ.

Death Rabbit
Wed, 20th Sep '06, 9:24am
Sorry - been busy.

It's from a fairly recent film that's become a popular series, with another installment coming out next year.

Takara
Thu, 21st Sep '06, 10:16am
i'm sorry DR but you've posterd a film, for me, that I have no ciue towards. Might never have seen it either.

DarkStrider
Thu, 21st Sep '06, 12:07pm
Wedding Crashers?

Death Rabbit
Fri, 22nd Sep '06, 2:47am
Ok, last hint: it's an odd couple/buddy cop/fish out of water kind of movie.

T2Bruno
Fri, 22nd Sep '06, 3:53pm
The Man?

Death Rabbit
Sat, 23rd Sep '06, 8:35am
For some reason, my answer I posted here before isn't here anymore - freaky. Anyway, The Man is incorrect, but I noted in my post that I goofed the title of the song a little bit. It's actually:

Bounce Wit' Me (Can I Get A...) - Jay-Z

I don't know if that makes much of a difference. I noted the change above as well.

Takara
Tue, 26th Sep '06, 12:12pm
Well, hasn't helped any at all. No point asking for yet another hint either as this has gone on far too long with nobody able to guess. I HAVE to IJ. soz DR but needs to be done. To get it moving again: Roxette - It must have been love

Enagonios
Tue, 26th Sep '06, 12:28pm
Crap, only revisited this now. DR, what movie was it from? I only recognized the title one you added the "Can I get a" part. I used to love that song. Was it Rush Hour?

DarkStrider
Tue, 26th Sep '06, 1:49pm
Pretty Woman?

Takara
Tue, 26th Sep '06, 1:50pm
Indeed it is DS. Here is a cuddly bear to play with.

DarkStrider
Tue, 26th Sep '06, 3:57pm
Woohoo

EDIT: Enag's go as he got DR's correct

Enagonius was right about mine, if anyone cares. :)

DarkStrider
Tue, 26th Sep '06, 4:46pm
Oh in that case he can go

Takara
Wed, 27th Sep '06, 12:17pm
I've seen Rush hour, but that song didnt stand out. That was more like my coldplay - clocks example of how not to set films linked to songs. Unless it was written for that film or if the artist apeared briefly in that film: :nono:

Enagonios
Wed, 27th Sep '06, 12:41pm
oh, well i was willing to let DS have it but here goes, a VERY easy one.

Vanessa Carlton - A thousand miles

DarkStrider
Wed, 27th Sep '06, 5:13pm
Well as it's a chick song it must be from some kind of chick flick, therefore damned if I know :xx:

Death Rabbit
Wed, 27th Sep '06, 5:31pm
@ Takara...three things.

One: "Don't you EVA touch a black man's radio, boy!" That was a pretty standout scene.

Two: It was the hit song from that movie's soundtrack. It appeared on the soundtrack before it appeared on a Jay-Z album, so it's safe to say it was meant for the movie.

Three: Half the songs in this entire game fit the category of "it was barely in the movie." Still doesn't mean it's not closely associated with it.

Takara
Wed, 27th Sep '06, 6:49pm
Things like stealers wheel was a very stand out song from resevoir dogs. Two point sounds like rule 1, which means it was tough, but perfectly valid. So no worries DR.

Saber
Wed, 27th Sep '06, 8:42pm
One: "Don't you EVA touch a black man's radio, boy!" That was a pretty standout sceneThat is one of my favorite moves, and I was going to guess Rush Hour, but I never knew the name of the song in that scene. DAMN!

Vanessa Carlton - A thousand Miles

White Chicks?

Mon, 2nd Oct '06, 4:30am
Hmmm, I think it's gonna take some time before Enags can come back. Metro Manila had been struck by a nasty typhoon last Thursday. It knocked out most of the electricity in MM and nearby provinces. I got my power restored only yesterday. Chances are Enag's must be in one of those zones that are still in the dark. Let's just hope that his problem is only the electricity 'cause I've seen a lot of floodings and damages to houses too.

And maybe someone who likes to invoke IJ... nows the time.

DarkStrider
Mon, 2nd Oct '06, 10:21am
*Ting* IJA

Dig this vibe - DJ Krush

Takara
Mon, 2nd Oct '06, 10:23am
DS got there first. ;)

DarkStrider
Thu, 5th Oct '06, 1:27pm
Ok hint time, obviously a night club scene, first film of a trilogy (and the best)

Enagonios
Thu, 5th Oct '06, 4:13pm
Blade?

Anyways, Nior was right on both counts: a) i only got power back yesterday after losing it on thursday and b) it was indeed White Chicks.

@DR

I love "Can I get a" and I agree that it wasn't exactly "barely in the movie" but imo that song "War" was more prominent in it. They had that whole scene where they were dancing and showing each other moves outside the Chinese resto and at the end, that's what Jackie started singing before they rolled the credits.

DarkStrider
Thu, 5th Oct '06, 5:28pm
Right on Enag, Blade it is it starts as the blood comes through the sprinklers and Blade appears...

Enagonios
Sat, 7th Oct '06, 11:32am
Awesome, purely a guess :D

"Dont Fear the Reaper" - The Mutton Birds

Enagonios
Wed, 11th Oct '06, 8:39am
okay, I guess this needs a hint :o

If you've seen the movie, you'd know the song as it's played in the last scene continuing on to the credits.

Also, it's the only non-instrumental-composed-for-the-movie song in the whole soundtrack.

And the title of the song is VERY appropriate considering the movie.

nior
Wed, 11th Oct '06, 11:36am
Nice observation to post clues like those Enags but it didn't help me much. :(

Enagonios
Sun, 15th Oct '06, 1:01pm
righteo, I guess I was a bit too obscure with this one. Anyways, the answer was "The Frighteners", a totally awesome movie with Michael J. Fox doing a character out of his usual comedy genre. I'll give it away now.

Survivor - Eye of the Tiger

First to see it, gets it ;)

Rocky III, actually

Harbourboy
Mon, 16th Oct '06, 2:09am
So much for "first to see, gets it"!

nior
Mon, 16th Oct '06, 4:26am
"Eye of the Tiger" starring Gary Busey

Here's the link. Eye of the Tiger (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091027/)

Heck, I even saw that movie back then. :D

dmc
Mon, 16th Oct '06, 5:45am
Well, I know I'm right, so:

Gangsta's Paradise.

Harbourboy
Mon, 16th Oct '06, 5:48am
Dangerous Minds? That is one of only 2 non Star Wars / Lord of the Rings movie sound tracks that I own (the other being The Karate Kid).

dmc
Mon, 16th Oct '06, 7:33am
That is correct. My wife went out and bought the Coolio CD with the song and it sits gathering dust because she doesn't like any other songs on it.

Harbourboy
Mon, 16th Oct '06, 8:16am
Yeah, the rest of the CD is rubbish. I'm not sure what sort of fit of temporary madness possessed me to buy it.

Um, how about "Why Can't We Be Friends?" Not sure if this qualifies as associated, but I saw it in a trailer as well as in the movie so *I* associate it with this film.

Enagonios
Tue, 17th Oct '06, 1:17pm
The Break-Up?

Harbourboy
Tue, 17th Oct '06, 7:08pm
No, but just as recent.

Enagonios
Thu, 19th Oct '06, 5:39pm
Any chance of another hint? I know I've seen a trailer playing this movie fairly recently, just can't remember..

Harbourboy
Thu, 19th Oct '06, 7:49pm
This is a sequel to a film that came out about 2-3 years ago. The song "Why Can't We Be Friends?" is kind of relevant to the main plot line in that there is a lot of unnecessary rivalry going on.

Harbourboy
Sun, 22nd Oct '06, 8:56pm
Childhood rivals, who continue to be rivals as adults?

Enagonios
Mon, 23rd Oct '06, 12:18pm
ah! Cheaper by the Dozen 2?

Harbourboy
Mon, 23rd Oct '06, 8:30pm
Hooray. That only took 8 days. Your turn, Enagonios.

Enagonios
Fri, 27th Oct '06, 1:52pm
i think this is a remake so i'm posting the artist credit as the one that sang the version for the movie.

"Another brick in the wall" by Class of '99.

T2Bruno
Tue, 7th Nov '06, 8:17pm
Hmm...just saw this. Of course it's a cover -- don't be ridiculous.

The original artist is Pink Floyd from (of all things) 'The Wall.' It has been used in 'Pink Floyd The Wall' movie (starring Nobel Laureate Sir Bob Geldof), 'The Wall: Live in Berlin' (which had a quite a cast), and in it's the least impressive rendition (sorry, but the Class of '99 just isn't Pink Floyd) 'The Faculty'.

Enagonios
Wed, 8th Nov '06, 2:39am
Well, I don't like the song anyway so there :p your turn

T2Bruno
Wed, 8th Nov '06, 4:25pm
Dead Man's Party -- Oingo Boingo.

Edit: I thought this would be a fast one -- I guess there aren't many Rodney Dangerfield fans at SP....

Wow, not any takers -- Back to School was almost required viewing when I was in college (along with that other ancient comedy 'Animal House').

Okay, first one with an answer to 'Over the Rainbow' by Judy Garland can take it. I won't be on over the weekend to verify the correct answer.

Looks like it's still dead -- perhaps you should choose another movie song....

Enagonios
Wed, 29th Nov '06, 11:55am
sorry I'm only back on this now guys, it's been pretty busy at work. I hate being an intern.

Anyway, I don't have one on me now so it's up for grabs to the first guy to take it.

btw, the movie was A Night at the Roxbury.

T2Bruno
Fri, 1st Dec '06, 3:49pm
Tis the season so an easy one here... but the original movie it appeared in please (it has been in several):

Edit: Sorry about the lyrics posted here... the song is White Christmas by Bing Crosby (hint: the Movie 'White Christmas' was the second movie with the song).

Shadow Assassin

Danny Devito is in it.

JSBB

Well I would've used a song from the first one too, but it featured in another film too so can't be allowed. So sequel it was. :p

Shadow Assassin
Thu, 3rd May '07, 7:39pm
Livin the Life - Steel Dragon

Takara
Fri, 4th May '07, 10:15am
Yet again I have no clue on the song. How is this linked to the film, made for the film, Singers starred in it cameo wise?

Shadow Assassin
Fri, 4th May '07, 5:58pm
Steel Dragon is the band in the movie, not a real band.

Takara
Fri, 4th May '07, 6:40pm
Interesting, but still no help however.

Shadow Assassin
Fri, 4th May '07, 9:55pm
If you've seen the movie more than once you'll know who Steel Dragon is.

Here's another hint Judas Priest

Takara
Fri, 4th May '07, 10:11pm
Closest I can think of, and it wont be, is Spinal Tap.

Shadow Assassin
Fri, 4th May '07, 11:01pm
nope, not Spinal Tap, but I almost used that movie.

Shadow Assassin

I can't believe no one has guessed this one, especially with the Judas Priest hint

Mark Wahlberg is the hint

Takara

Umm, Boogie Nights? Still no clue really.

Susipaisti
Tue, 15th May '07, 11:56am
I'm pretty sure it's the movie that mirrors what happened to Ripper Owens, meaning that a guy singing in a tribute band gets to join the band they were covering. I think Jennifer Aniston's in it too.

But I'll be damned if I can remember the title.

Shadow Assassin
Tue, 15th May '07, 9:26pm
Susipaisti is correct on what movie it is. The title is Rock Star. Steel Dragon is the name of the band that's supposed to represent Judas Priest in the movie. go ahead Susipaisti.

Susipaisti

The Last action hero? I'm only going on Shadow's mini hint.

That's the one.

Takara
Sat, 19th May '07, 3:05pm

Hintage: played at the end credits of the 1984 movie.

Takara

I'm sure i'd get it if I heard it, but for now i'm stumped.

T2Bruno
Mon, 21st May '07, 4:56pm
I think I'm the only other person that's actually seen that movie and I didn't know 'Team March' was part of the sound track until I looked it up.

Great question kuemper -- you might want to have another song in your back pocket when others raise the white flag too.

kuemper
Tue, 22nd May '07, 3:10pm

nowait, that definitely wasn't Dusty Springfield, but Susanna Hoffs. (I remember her with Mike, Matthew Sweet and the rest of "Ming Tea" during the scene breaks, and that helped me recognize her voice)

Hmmm... :skeptic:

My favorite line from the second CR:

Waiter: 'Would you like that shaken or stirred?'

Bond: 'Do I look like I give a damn.'

Next show tune...

'Do You Love Me?' -- performed by actor(s) in the film.

Well I know the song by the contours but was it sung by actors in a film? tricky.

The film is a musical from the early 70's and is still often performed on stage. The lead actor goes home and asks his wife of 25 years...

'Do you love me?'

the only other movie that I can think of with that in it is the wanderers.

okay I now know that's not it (though I think it's better related to that movie). I found it on amazon not even really looking for it. Hugely popular musical, but you won't know it's in it if you haven't seen it multiple times.

T2Bruno
Thu, 31st May '07, 4:41pm
Personally, I thought the scene was the most memorable in the movie -- but then I may be too sentimental. He asks if she love him and she tell him to go lie down 'maybe it's indigestion.' Finally, the best she can do is 'I suppose so.'

I just found it sad that after 25 years the best he could get was 'I suppose so.'

Hint: In the era the movie was set it was tradition to arrange marriages -- the man and wife had met each other at their wedding. Their daughter did not want to follow that tradition and instead wanted to marry a man she loved (Bonus hint: A title to another song from the musical is in that hint).

Well, fine.

Calender Girl by Neil Sadaka.

The song was an intregal part of the movie's plot even though only one line was used in the movie: The single line of the melody was played apprehensively on a piano by the lead character.

(I love, I love, I love my calender ... girl.)

Hint: The protagonist was looking at the floors the rape/murders occurred -- on a hunch he went to the piano and hit a note corresponding to each floor -- it came out to the tune:

I love, I love, I love my cal-en-der ...

The only missing note for 'girl' indicated the next victim would be on the 13th floor of a building (not many of those, actually) and led to catching the serial rapist/murderer.

Granted, this may be a stretch of the rules....

Perhaps an adjustment to the rules is more in order (along with a belated apology to kuemper)....

Takara
Fri, 15th Jun '07, 7:32am
I think you're right. The rule about the song being "linked" is scrubed. Just if it was made FOR the movie or the singer/s appear in the film can be ok.
I only made this rule because of the She sells sanctuary song. Whenever I hear it i'll always think of With Honors, but didn't know it had neen used in others too.

T2Bruno
Fri, 15th Jun '07, 4:09pm
Rather than the 'linked' song being scrubbed, you could alternatively have:

In the case where a song has been used in more than one movie, any movie the song has appeared in is an acceptable answer unless the original clue has sufficient detail to exclude all other movies.

Takara
Fri, 15th Jun '07, 4:54pm
Interesting. I think yes that could work. I was going to do a song used in Austen Powers 1, Secret agent man by Johnny Rivers but I said I couldn't because it had been used in Ace Ventura 2. If I said the song BUT said when posting that it WASN'T from Ace Ventura 2, that could work. And then you can go on, like you said, other clues so any guesses before the further clues are acceptable, but after other films are then a no go.

Takara
