View Full Version : POLL: Daniel Craig as Bond: Thumbs up or down?
Death Rabbit Sat, 12th Aug '06, 10:47am Evidently quite a few hard-core James Bond fans across the globe are very upset about the selection of actor Daniel Craig to replace Pierce Brosnan as the new James Bond 007. The filmmakers wanted to go with an actor who was less well-known, to in turn help push a grittier, darker manifestation of the character. But many fans seem to hate the idea of it being Craig, saying he's blonde, too young, some even think he's a sissy because he played a role once where he french kissed another man. Not like he's an actor or anything...
Anyway - I'd like to know what everyone thinks. So as not to bias the results, I'll state my own opinion in good time.

Felinoid Sat, 12th Aug '06, 11:09am Daniel Craig is downright ugly. Unless they're looking to go grittier in plot and actor (how the books are, I'm told), this is a horrendous mistake. But a simple choice of actor won't dissuade me from seeing the next movie; it will take a lot of ruining to get me away from Bond.
Barmy Army Sat, 12th Aug '06, 12:30pm He's a good actor is Daniel Craig. He was very good in Layer Cake, and you only need to watch that to see he'd make a decent Bond.
I still think Clive Owen might've been a better choice though.
Enagonios Sat, 12th Aug '06, 9:09pm I haven't seen it yet. My preliminary opinion is that he sucks as Bond though. I'll cast a vote once I see it, I may be pleasantly surprised. I doubt it though.
Cúchulainn Mon, 14th Aug '06, 9:31am He has also been in a sex scene with a 60 year old woman (The Mother), which just shows that he is a very versatile actor.
Felinoid Mon, 14th Aug '06, 9:43am Or just a genuine creep. ;)
Arabwel Tue, 15th Aug '06, 11:20am He's a decent enough actor, of that I have no doubt. but he's just not Bond material. *sigh*
they should have gone with Clive Owen.
Felinoid Tue, 15th Aug '06, 12:02pm Didn't you hear? Apparently he's too short.
Apeman Tue, 15th Aug '06, 6:38pm I'm glad they didn't pick Owen, He's one of my favourite actors nowadays and playing bond will stick with like butter after you're done. Let him make more cool movies. I understand why they chose an unknown actor. I think the trailer looked promising.
Arabwel Tue, 15th Aug '06, 6:40pm Too short? *blinks* He's taller than Sean Connery, for *censored*'s sake!
Felinoid Tue, 15th Aug '06, 9:26pm Exactly. It's a BS reason, but it's the one they gave.
Trellheim Tue, 15th Aug '06, 9:50pm Sean Connery is, imho, the only real Bond, others don't have the needed charisma of 25. Craig has some 4-5, hell, even Brosnan had 18!
Elfen Lied Tue, 15th Aug '06, 10:34pm hmm, i think could lay off daniel craig for a bit see his movie, see that he sucks, then blast him, and get pierce brosnan back.
you know like they did with george lasenby or what ever that guys name was that replaced Sean Connery, for one movie.
Felinoid Tue, 15th Aug '06, 11:27pm Sean Connery is, imho, the only real Bond, others don't have the needed charisma of 25. Too true. (http://www.llbbl.com/data/RPG-motivational/charisma3.jpg) :shake:
shadow lurker Wed, 16th Aug '06, 3:44am I don't really like the sound of Daniel Craig...Oh yeah I heard that apparently he'll be dressed in casual throughout the whole movie. No trademark tux this time. They should have picked Julian McMahon or something...(he was one of the alternatives wasn't he...?)
nior Wed, 16th Aug '06, 4:10am Let's see the movie first.
Kitrax Wed, 16th Aug '06, 6:47am Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan were the best two 007's. Can't beat Brosnan's 007 with Haley Berry. :rolling:
Elfen Lied Wed, 16th Aug '06, 8:12am wasnt Sean Connery voted best bond of all time?
shadow lurker Sat, 26th Aug '06, 1:10pm I think Sean Connery was the best. :D When I was little I thought Pierce Brosnan looked evil...eh~hehehe...Oh and I don't think Timothy Dalton was as bad as most people think...I think Roger Moore was worse than him. Don't like Roger Moore...
Saber Sat, 26th Aug '06, 11:10pm Pierce Brosnan were the best two 007'sHe was good, but all his movies sucked because as soon as he came, they became solely focused on explosisons and sex. It lost its wit and made more money.
Sean Connery is the best, methinks.
