For all of you who are Stargate SG-1 fans, Sci Fi announced (http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=2&id=37607) that they will not pick up the series for an 11th season.

After 10 seasons, and over 200 episodes, this record-breaking series will be off the air.

Stargate Atlantis will continue to be aired on Sci Fi.

I still refuse to believe that this show has lasted 10 seasons.

I always thought it was one of those cheesey film to TV ripoffs (a la Planet of the Apes) that was canned after less than one series. I've never seen this show on TV. Maybe it never reached New Zealand, or is on some obscure channel or timeslot that I never stumble across.

I thought it ended 2 years ago.

Stargate SG-1 is a fun series to watch. They don't take themselves too serious, so it has a good amount of humor in it.

SG Atlantis is different, but still entertaining.

Nooo....! But...I suppose they can't really think of anything new, I mean in season (what...uh...8?) They already had the whole successful Jaffa rebellion and they got rid of the replicators...and Anubis...(Yes, yes I like SG-1 a lot :D ) Plus it's not quite the same without Jack... :(

Atlantis is no where near as good. Sheppard is annoying...Ronin is cool! :D McKay is annoying at times and Carson is funny. I like that little Asguard they have on the Daedalus...he/she/it is soo funny! :D

Bah. Still don't believe they're going to stop making SG-1. :(

maybe the series will continue but on a different channel?

I quite enjoy SG-1, I always switch it on if I see it when flicking through the channels. It always seems to be the old ones that are shown though. I'm not a big fan of the new ones, with new characters who I don't know etc.

I LOVE this show, dammit. I even bought the first 5 seasons on DVD.
A shame it ends, but those guys must be running out of ideas after all these years :)

It's also a problem of $$ for the studio. The longer a show is on the air, the more money needs to be paid to the actors. And 10 years is a long time.

Another problem is the fact that the show hasn't done as well in the ratings this summer *cough*timeslot change*cough* and a lack of advertising for the 10th season.

I do enjoy Atlantis, but it's not the same as SG-1. Some SG-1 fans are threatening to boycott Sci Fi and not watch Atlantis at all, which is kind of silly, as it just destroys the chances for Atlantis to continue, and could possibly end the franchise.

True true, over here SG-1 got bumped back to 11pm (gah, missed the first 6 episodes of season 9 because of it! :( Oh well, doesn't matter since we'll be getting it on DVD soon...hehehe...)

Well I'm already up to watching season 3 of Atlantis...(friend has a friend) :D Getting more interesting.

For some reason I just suddenly thought of the Jaffa joke that Teal'c tells the team in one of the episodes...

Aah, the Jaffa joke... a great moment :D

I've been watching season 3 of Atlantis and season 10 of SG-1, and been enjoying them. It's a bittersweet feeling, though, knowing that SG-1 is ending.

I've been hearing rumours about the possibility of SG-1 mini-series, and possibly a Stargate 2 feature film, set 10-12 years after the first one. Gateworld (http://www.gateworld.net/) is a good source of information on both shows.

Yup, gotta feel sorry for Teal'c as no-one laughs. But I thought it was funny... :D

Noo...I'm stuck with episode 4 of season 3 for a while until my tutor gives me more...It was an alright episode, I liked the story about Ronin, but the guy can't act very well...plus there were a few bits that were trying a bit too hard, like when he tosses the grenade over his shoulder while he's walking casusally and it's all in slow motion? Yuk. Although I still like Ronin. :D

A Stargate film eh? Interesting! :D :spin:
