Any Australian or New Zealand soap star who goes to try and "make it big in Hollywood" and therefore has to try and do an "American" accent so they can fit in. I guess it's only funny if you remember what they used to talk like.

Examples: Cliff Curtis, Temuera Morrison, Martin Henderson, Heath Ledger, Naomi Watts, Nicole Kidman etc

Other than that, you can't go past Nicolas Cage's dodgy Italian in Captain Corelli's Mandolin.

Every actor in Alexander playing a Macedonian(especially the children at the start) had an Irish accent for some reason!

I vote for the entire cast of "A perfect storm". Probably the worst butchering of the Boston accent in the history of film.

Every American actor ever 'speaking' french

Probably the worst butchering of the Boston accent in the history of film. The accents from The Departed, on the other hand, were beautiful. Except for the fact that no one actually has one anymore :p

The Highlander movies were appalling... Scottish accent anyone?

I hate the fake Irish accent in Sin City. That was just bad.

Some of the accents from Aurthur were terrible. I remember the guy that the knights were saving in one of the first few scenes where the Brits ambushed the convoy had an accent that sounded Russian

I never understood how so many actors fail to do an Irish accent. I think Gillian Anderson deserves credit as she pulled of a flawless Norn Iron accent.

I know Harrison Ford pulled off a terrible Russian accent in a submarine movie, I forget which one though...

On the note of a very good accent though - Hugh Laurie in House.

The Highlander movies were appalling... Scottish accent anyone? Not surprising. The Scot was cast as an Egyptian-cum-Spaniard and a Frenchman was the Highlander.

The Scot was cast as an Egyptian-cum-Spaniard and a Frenchman was the Highlander. Actually Christopher Lambert was born in the US (Long Island, New York). He was educated in Switzerland and he studied acting in Paris.
In the first movie his Scottish accent is not perfect but it's not as bad as in the sequels.

How about those terrible accents that are intentional....

French Knights in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau (Steve Martin did a very bad impression of Peter Sellers' butchering of a French accent).
James Coco as Inspector Perrier and (again) Peter Sellers as Inspector Wang in Murder By Death.
Yet again, Peter Sellers as the title villian in The Fiendish Plot of Doctor Fu Manchu.
One more time... Peter Sellers as Dr Strangelove.

Mel Gibson in Braveheart has probably got to be the worst.

Peter Sellers as Clouseau (or Dr Strangelove or Hrundi V. Bakshi) doesn't count for me because he's spoofind the accent as opposed to actually trying to imitate it (there's the real French accent, there's bad French accents, and then there's Peter Sellers).

George Clooney in Syriana trying to speak Arabic doesn't count either, because the problem there isn't the accent: he's simply not speaking anything that remotely resembles Arabic (which makes the guy opposite him telling him "Your arabic is quite good" even funnier)

I saw a preview for Blood Diamond and Leonardo DiCaprio's accent (British? French?)... I don't even know wtf he's *trying* to sound like.

God Moaning. The resist-once have accqo-aired a bum. They are going to ex-plod the whaleway brodge. "The troon corrying the ponting has been bummer by the RAF"
"Bummed by the RAF?"
"Bummed by the RAF?"
"What have those naughty RAF been doing now?"

The French chick in "Out Cold." It seemed as though every other scene she forgot she was French, and spoke in a 'normal' accent. Throughout the movie, this got more and more pronounced, until she finally started to phase it out in mid-conversation. By the end of the movie, the phase-out was complete. Pure 'merican, and proud.
