View Full Version : Movie associated with a song game #2
nior Thu, 10th Jan '08, 3:18am Continuing the tradition of actors singing the song in the movie...
Johnny B. Goode (Chuck Berry)
In this movie, the singing actor first wowed the crowd with the song but later on stunned them with his guitar playing.
Aldazar Thu, 10th Jan '08, 5:43am Back To The Future?
nior Thu, 10th Jan '08, 6:04am Indeed. Your turn A.
Aldazar Thu, 10th Jan '08, 6:09am And another along the actor-singing-the-song line:
"I Say A Little Prayer" as performed by one actor with everyone else at the table joining in by the end
Takara Thu, 10th Jan '08, 9:50am My best friend's wedding.
Aldazar Thu, 10th Jan '08, 2:18pm Yup, knew it would be easy
Takara Thu, 10th Jan '08, 3:00pm okey doke. Might be tricky this one, but might not. We'll see. Guantanamera by Pete Seeger
Aldazar Thu, 10th Jan '08, 3:27pm That song always reminds me of a Holden Rodeo advert that used to be on TV here "One Tonne Rodeo... I got a One Tonne Rodeo...One Tonee Rodeeeo"
I vaguely remember that from one of those kids movies, Bug's Life or Antz - my son used to watch both so much that I still get them mixed up
T2Bruno Thu, 10th Jan '08, 3:36pm It's been in many movies, could you be more specific?
Takara Thu, 10th Jan '08, 4:45pm It gets referred to a lot during this movie, and gets played on the stereo towards the end of the movie. I didn't know it was in several movies. The main chrs mother bought it for him for christmas when he was a kid.
Aldazar Thu, 10th Jan '08, 5:10pm So not one of the ones I thought?
This definitely sounds familiar though, or maybe I'm just confusing it with Besame Mucho as used in the Ethan Hawke/Gwyneth Paltrow version of Great Expectations :hmm:
Takara Thu, 10th Jan '08, 5:26pm Not that.
Takara Fri, 11th Jan '08, 7:03pm This film isn't directed by David Cronenberg, he actually stars in this, and not briefly. He's in this a fair bit.
Takara Tue, 15th Jan '08, 10:55am I posted a quote from this film 3 years ago. After several hints, Splunge had heard of the film, but never saw it or knew it's name. It saddens me that still nobody knows this. It's in my top 20 films of all time, First time I watched it I was fine until the credits rolled, then I just cried. It's an amazing, touching, film. But if you want a film with action, car chases, etc, you will find this boring. It's about emotions and behaviour of people in the final hours before the world ends. "Last Night".
nior Wed, 16th Jan '08, 4:05am That is sad... now can we have a new entry.
Takara Wed, 16th Jan '08, 10:12am Heh, ok. Afro Celt Sound System - Dark Moon, High Tide. Might be tricky as the band might not be well known, but I love 'em. this movie, whilst not great, is well known.
T2Bruno Wed, 16th Jan '08, 5:02pm Gangs of New York
Takara Wed, 16th Jan '08, 5:11pm You got it. Obviously not tricky at all for you, T2.
T2Bruno Wed, 16th Jan '08, 7:29pm Actually, that was a guess. Gangs of New York was the last movie I saw with "Celtic" music in it. Serendipity is a good thing.
Cotton's Dream -- Instrumental piece.
Hint: It is also called "Nadia's Theme" and was used in the 1976 Olympics by Nadia Comaneci (the first perfect 10). A slightly altered version is the theme to The Young and the Restless.
Hint 2: The theme song to the movie is performed by The Carpenters and was nominated for an Oscar.
Takara Fri, 18th Jan '08, 11:10am The Godfather?
T2Bruno Fri, 18th Jan '08, 4:42pm No. Not the Godfather (got a chuckle on that one ... The Carpenters singing on the Godfather).
Takara Fri, 18th Jan '08, 4:55pm I'm thinking nobody will get this.
T2Bruno Fri, 18th Jan '08, 8:43pm New song, new movie...
Promise Me You'll Remember by Harry Connick Jr.
T2Bruno Sun, 20th Jan '08, 2:23am The music was written by Carmine Coppola -- a man who wrote a lot of music for his son's movies....
T2Bruno Tue, 22nd Jan '08, 4:22pm Alright, how about....
Fame -- Irene Cara (hint: it's really not a trick question).
[The first song I posted was from Bless the Beast and the Children, the second was the love song in Godfather, Part III]
Takara Tue, 22nd Jan '08, 4:45pm Fame? T2, nw.
T2Bruno Tue, 22nd Jan '08, 8:26pm Told you is wasn't a trick question...
Your turn Takara. (nw?)
Takara Tue, 22nd Jan '08, 8:35pm nw: No worries. Ok, Lou Gramm - lost in the shadows
Takara Thu, 24th Jan '08, 10:27am Ok, hint, first will be basic. This song was made for this movie. In the title it has the movie name in brackets, which I left off.
Takara Fri, 25th Jan '08, 11:07am This song plays wilst the main chrs are riding motorbikes on the beach, at night.
Takara Sat, 26th Jan '08, 11:14am This movie is about vampires.
Aldazar Sat, 26th Jan '08, 1:20pm Not The Lost Boys is it?
Takara Sat, 26th Jan '08, 1:22pm It surely is. :D
Aldazar Sat, 26th Jan '08, 1:24pm Sweet. :thumb:
Well, since I've had a brain freeze at the moment, here's one that should be so easy it's shameful
"She Caught The Katy"
the performer may not be necessary but if it is, I can post his name shortly
Takara Sat, 26th Jan '08, 2:22pm The title didn't ring a bell, so went on to iTunes to hear a clip. Unfortunately I saw the film name, and yes. Shameful.
Aldazar Sun, 27th Jan '08, 11:40am Indeed...one of those ones that you KNOW you know but can sometimes just get lost somewhere :bang:
But once you realise...
Aldazar Fri, 1st Feb '08, 4:01pm Come on people, it's been almost a week and no-one has this yet? For shame!
Takara Fri, 1st Feb '08, 5:18pm When I saw the film name, I was like  but when I heard it, it meant little. Maybe others are having that prob. Post another, more well known, song from same movie?
Aldazar Sat, 2nd Feb '08, 6:43am Well, I'll post the name of the performer and if that doesn't tip anyone off, I'll post a more well-known song...
The song once more is "She Caught The Katy" and it's performed by John Belushi
nior Mon, 4th Feb '08, 3:44am Blues Brothers?
Aldazar Mon, 4th Feb '08, 7:35am Yup...take it nior
nior Mon, 4th Feb '08, 8:33am Siente Mi Amor - Salma Hayek
Takara Mon, 4th Feb '08, 10:41am Once Upon a Time in Mexico?
nior Tue, 5th Feb '08, 3:36am The guitar gun is yours Takara.
Takara Tue, 5th Feb '08, 10:15am Hehe. Danny Boy by Harry Connick Jr
nior Wed, 6th Feb '08, 4:12am Good Will Hunting?
Takara Wed, 6th Feb '08, 10:14am Nope, this was sang by him in this movie
T2Bruno Wed, 6th Feb '08, 3:37pm Memphis Belle
Takara Wed, 6th Feb '08, 3:53pm Yup. :D
T2Bruno Wed, 6th Feb '08, 4:44pm I Will Go Sailing No More -- Randy Newman
The song is about shattered dreams and sung as one of the lead characters realizes his life is a sham.
T2Bruno Fri, 8th Feb '08, 7:31pm Same movie, same artist -- You've Got a Friend In Me.
Takara Fri, 8th Feb '08, 9:03pm That would be Toy Story. The last, I didn't know.
T2Bruno Fri, 8th Feb '08, 9:29pm Your turn Takara.
Takara Fri, 8th Feb '08, 10:04pm Blaze of Glory by Bon Jovi
T2Bruno Sat, 9th Feb '08, 3:39am Young Guns II -- they originally wanted to use "Wanted, Dead or Alive" but Bon Jovi wouldn't allow it.
Takara Sat, 9th Feb '08, 10:14am Did they? interesting. You're up.
T2Bruno Mon, 11th Feb '08, 2:37pm Makin' Whoopee -- Susie Diamond
Takara Mon, 11th Feb '08, 3:49pm Casablanca?
T2Bruno Mon, 11th Feb '08, 7:05pm No, more recent.
Hint: Susie Diamond is the character's name in the movie, not the actress playing her.
Aldazar Mon, 11th Feb '08, 9:22pm The Fabulous Baker Boys
T2Bruno Mon, 11th Feb '08, 10:39pm Your turn Aldazar.
Aldazar Wed, 13th Feb '08, 6:38pm Okay...brainfart demands a softball:
"Feed My Frankenstein" by Alice Cooper
Takara Wed, 13th Feb '08, 6:58pm Wayne's world.
Aldazar Wed, 13th Feb '08, 7:34pm Natch...just had a thought too...has this been used relatively recently? Or is it just my sleep-deprived mind screwing with me?
Takara Wed, 13th Feb '08, 7:51pm Hehe, nope, it was. :p ok... Call me by Blondie
T2Bruno Wed, 13th Feb '08, 8:26pm American Gigolo.
Takara Wed, 13th Feb '08, 9:18pm Yup. Heh, temping to do it from Deuce Bigalow.
T2Bruno Wed, 13th Feb '08, 9:34pm Kiss the Girl -- Samuel Wright
T2Bruno Fri, 15th Feb '08, 3:59pm This is sad....
I'm a Believer -- Smash Mouth
Takara Fri, 15th Feb '08, 5:00pm Rat Race?
T2Bruno Fri, 15th Feb '08, 5:30pm No, not rat race.
Hint: It's at the end of the movie. All the characters are singing and dancing and having a party....
Takara Fri, 15th Feb '08, 5:46pm Shrek?
T2Bruno Fri, 15th Feb '08, 8:29pm Your turn Takara.
Takara Fri, 15th Feb '08, 8:34pm The Timewarp by members of the cast
Aldazar Sat, 16th Feb '08, 5:43am Rocky Horror Picture Show!
Takara Sat, 16th Feb '08, 10:42am Yup, and i've also seen it in the theatre!
Aldazar Sat, 16th Feb '08, 8:20pm I would just about kill to see it at the cinema...we don't have classy cinemas here though...just a big-chain one...anyway:
This may be in a few films but in the one I'm thinking of it's played over the closing credits...
Goodnight Moon by Shivaree
sreeja Thu, 21st Feb '08, 7:49am There are so many songs in bollywood which associates the movie name. For example kuch kuch hota hai, kabhi alvidha na kahana.
nior Thu, 21st Feb '08, 9:24am But I think that one is a song and we're suppose to guess the movie. No idea what movie though, so wild guess would be The Guru? Although I've never seen it.
Aldazar Fri, 22nd Feb '08, 8:24pm Not The Guru...if that is indeed a guess at the song I posted...
Aldazar Sun, 2nd Mar '08, 4:54pm Apologies for my tardiness...been having major computer troubles lately...most likely a virus...so I may be out of action for a few days...hence I'm throwing this open to everyone and their dog...
Dog optional of course...
Btw, the movie was Kill Bill (or was it #2? I can't be sure anymore)
Takara Sun, 2nd Mar '08, 6:49pm Yap yap. Smash Mouth - all star
And not Shrek as this was performed by the band in this movie.
Aldazar Mon, 3rd Mar '08, 3:00am Mystery Men...
Cap'n CJ Mon, 3rd Mar '08, 10:00am Rat Race!
Takara Mon, 3rd Mar '08, 10:08am You got it CJ. :)
Cap'n CJ Mon, 3rd Mar '08, 10:11am Yey!
Anyway, as I can't think of one right now, i'm gonna leave the floor open. First person who has one that wants to post, it's all yours :)
Daie d'Malkin Mon, 3rd Mar '08, 4:40pm Softball.

T2Bruno Wed, 5th Mar '08, 5:15pm I guess this wasn't as much of a softball as you thought....
Cap'n CJ Thu, 6th Mar '08, 12:37pm Advent Children.
Daie d'Malkin Thu, 6th Mar '08, 4:26pm /me hands Masamune over to CJ
Cap'n CJ Fri, 7th Mar '08, 11:13am And I still can't think of one! The floor is open once again.
Edit: Changed my mind! A softball for you guys...
Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Relax
Takara Fri, 7th Mar '08, 1:14pm The Wedding Singer?
Cap'n CJ Fri, 7th Mar '08, 2:14pm Good guess, but not the right answer. Keep at it!
Daie d'Malkin Fri, 7th Mar '08, 7:28pm Zoolander
Cap'n CJ Sat, 8th Mar '08, 11:31am It's as easy as that, folks. Your turn, Daie.
Daie d'Malkin Sat, 8th Mar '08, 8:29pm Nine Inch Nails- Closer
Cap'n CJ Sun, 9th Mar '08, 11:53pm I get the feeling i've watched a movie with that in it fairly recently, but I can't remember what it was.
Daie d'Malkin Wed, 19th Mar '08, 12:52pm Hint. Stars a rather Sharpe actor
Takara Wed, 19th Mar '08, 1:15pm Ronin?
Daie d'Malkin Thu, 20th Mar '08, 12:00pm Nope
Aldazar Tue, 25th Mar '08, 8:17pm A hint perhaps? Or someone to take over?
Takara Fri, 28th Mar '08, 10:18am Enough time has passed from when you asked for a hint, so you can IJ. If you haven't by tomorrow, I will. Or anyone else can.
Aldazar Sat, 29th Mar '08, 1:09am Ok, I'll take the IJ....
Possbily a little difficult but have a shot at this one:
"Now You're A Man" by DVDA
Aldazar Tue, 1st Apr '08, 6:47am Okay, the only hint I can think of for this one right now is that they also had a song in the South Park movie - "What Would Brian Boitano Do"
Daie d'Malkin Wed, 2nd Apr '08, 6:00pm The movie was The Hitcher. Sorry, I've been away/dealing with personal problems
Oh, and I know what the movie is, but only because I wanted to listen to the song so I youtubed it
Susipaisti Wed, 2nd Apr '08, 9:56pm Orgazmo.
Aldazar Sat, 5th Apr '08, 8:31am Orgazmo it is....
Susipaisti Mon, 7th Apr '08, 12:41am "Meet Me Half Way" by Kenny Loggins
Susipaisti Tue, 8th Apr '08, 10:32pm Didn't think this would be a stumper. Here's a hint: It's the kind of movie that makes you cry big, manly man-tears. Stallone is starring.
T2Bruno Tue, 8th Apr '08, 10:44pm Men are only allowed to cry during Brian's Song and when beer is spilt.
Never for a Stallone movie. Unless you paid full price.
dmc Tue, 8th Apr '08, 10:59pm Ugh. I vaguely remember hearing Kenny Loggins from Over the Top, which I found myself watching on TBS or TNT or some other similar station. Is that right?
The only reason I'm doubting is because, even in my most charitable frame of mind, I wasn't close to the vicinity of the neighborhood of the remotest possibility of shedding a tear (except, perhaps, from the perspective that this was the same guy that wrote and starred in Rocky -- how far can he fall?)
Susipaisti Tue, 8th Apr '08, 11:38pm Over the Top is correct!
There was a fantastic article on it on I-Mockery. (Hence the man-tears part.)
dmc Tue, 8th Apr '08, 11:50pm OK - T2Bruno got this song in the Song Quote Game, let's see if he can get the movie:
38 Special -- Caught Up in You.
Cap'n CJ Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 2:51pm Time for a new song, methinks.
dmc Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 4:46pm You're probably right, as I completely forgot about this. I'll throw it open, as I cannot think of one right now.
Takara Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 6:22pm To keep it simple. Bryan Adams - (Everything I do) I do it for you
Should be simple, after all, how many weeks at no.1 did this stay????
LKD Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 7:05pm Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, starring Kevin Costner as the linguistically anachronistic Robin Hood, Morgan Freeman as the Token Black Character Introduced to Give the Story a New Twist, Christian Slater as a foul mouthed Will Scarlett, and Alan Rickman in his best role ever as the Sheriff of Nottingham!
Takara Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 7:23pm Yeah. :)
LKD Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 7:35pm OK, this one is inspired by the last song. Please remember I'm new, so if this film has been done before please accept my apologies:
"Everybody Knows" as sung by Concrete Blonde on the soundtrack but in the movie itself it was sung by Leonard Cohen.
Takara Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 7:49pm Pump up the volume?
LKD Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 8:30pm You've got it -- I'm impressed. Go ahead!
Takara Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 8:59pm When Chriistian Slater would "masturbate" on air... lol. Such a good song!
From one Leonard Cohen song to another "Waiting for the Miracle"
LKD Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 9:18pm Natural born killers! Yuck. Hated it.
Takara Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 9:22pm Really? I quite enjoyed it.
LKD Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 10:09pm When even I find a movie disturbing, that's saying something. Anyhow, Now I've gotta think of another movie song. Again, if it's been done before, my apologies.
"Storybook Love" Mark Knoppfler
Takara Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 10:27pm The Princess Bride?
LKD Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 10:30pm Yeah, I knew that one was too fricking easy! Go for it, Takara!
Takara Wed, 23rd Apr '08, 10:38pm Not been used before, either of them. When I heard the last on iTunes, immediately I thought of Buttercup on her horse. Was such a romantic movie!
Okey doke. You could be mine by Guns n Roses
Gnarfflinger Thu, 24th Apr '08, 4:34am Terminator II: Judgement Day
Takara Thu, 24th Apr '08, 10:01am I'll be back! Hehe, yup.
Gnarfflinger Fri, 25th Apr '08, 5:20am "Roller Coaster of Love" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Cap'n CJ Fri, 25th Apr '08, 7:58pm Beavis & Butthead Do America?
Gnarfflinger Sat, 26th Apr '08, 5:11am That didn't take long. Correct Cap'n!
Cap'n CJ Sat, 26th Apr '08, 11:02am I haven't seen that for years, but it was the first time I ever heard the song :)
The Specials - Ghost Town
Cap'n CJ Mon, 28th Apr '08, 11:42am Nobody?
Madonna - Lucky Star also plays briefly in a violent flashback.
Cap'n CJ Wed, 30th Apr '08, 2:08pm I'll leave this one more day, then i'll post something else.
A quick clue for you guys: This is a british movie.
Takara Wed, 30th Apr '08, 2:44pm Shaun of the dead?
Cap'n CJ Fri, 2nd May '08, 12:25am Bah, the movie was Snatch.
Alright, here's a real softball for you.
Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit
Fairie Fri, 2nd May '08, 1:29am Fear and Loathing?
Cap'n CJ Fri, 2nd May '08, 1:43am Yeah, told you it was a softball :p
Takara Fri, 2nd May '08, 10:09am Could also have had The Game, Platoon........ :p
Fairie Sun, 4th May '08, 12:11pm Hmm... Okay, guys.
Hundred Mile High City - Ocean Colour Scene
... Go!
Takara Sun, 4th May '08, 12:48pm Austin Powers: the spy who shagged me?
Fairie Sun, 4th May '08, 2:06pm Nope. Did you know there's gonna be a 4th Austin Powers movie?
Takara Sun, 4th May '08, 4:59pm Heh, never thought that.
Fairie Tue, 6th May '08, 10:11pm Ok, have another clue.
The movie is British.
Takara Tue, 6th May '08, 11:08pm Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels?
Fairie Tue, 6th May '08, 11:15pm Haha. Well done, Takara.
You're up!
Takara Tue, 6th May '08, 11:19pm Heh, I have that on order atm. Pinball Wizard by Elton John
T2Bruno Tue, 6th May '08, 11:27pm Obvious -- Tommy.
Takara Tue, 6th May '08, 11:31pm Yeah.
T2Bruno Wed, 7th May '08, 3:22am Rock Around the Clock -- Bill Haley
The first movie it was in, please.
Edit: In retrospect, I'll open it up to any of the three movies this song was in. All three were Oscar nominated movies, two were about teenagers, and the third was just super.
Takara Wed, 7th May '08, 7:42pm Back to the future?
Splunge Wed, 7th May '08, 8:07pm American Graffiti (not sure if it was the first one, though).
T2Bruno Wed, 7th May '08, 8:11pm Splunge has it.
The other movies were: Blackboard Jungle (1955), and Superman (1978) -- both with Glenn Ford (the song was chosen to be played on the car radio in Superman because of the Glenn Ford tie). It was also used in "Rock Around the Clock" a B-movie from 1956 (I didn't know about that one until a few minutes ago).
"Rock Around the Clock" is considered by many to be the most influential rock song in history. It basically started the rock movement among white performers.
Splunge Wed, 7th May '08, 8:15pm Well, I just heard this song the other day (sorry if it's been used here before):
Simple Minds - Don't You Forget About Me
T2Bruno Wed, 7th May '08, 8:18pm Breakfast Club
Splunge Wed, 7th May '08, 8:20pm Yep. I have to admit - I like both the movie and the song.
You're up, T2.
T2Bruno Wed, 7th May '08, 9:39pm On the Good Ship Lollypop -- Shirley Temple.
Takara Wed, 7th May '08, 11:17pm Who framed Roger Rabbit?
Splunge Wed, 7th May '08, 11:33pm You been dipping into the turnip beer again, Tak?
I should know this one since I used it as a lark in the Song Quote Game, but I'm drawing a blank on the movie.
T2Bruno Wed, 7th May '08, 11:40pm No, not Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Where do you think I got the idea Splunge?
Splunge Thu, 8th May '08, 3:50am Well, the egotistical ‘me’ wants to say you got it from, well, me (from the afore-mentioned Song Quote Game), but the “me who knows better” suspects otherwise.
In any event, I still have no idea.
T2Bruno Thu, 8th May '08, 6:33pm Alright, fine... new movie, new song:
This one has been in a boatload of movies (including an instrumental version in 'Strangers on a Train' and in another movie by Ol' Blue Eyes), but not with these specific artists -- they are unique to one movie:
The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down -- performed by Charles Fleischer and later in the movie by Bob Hoskins
... Fleischer did the voice of a character in the movie (Takara... now you say the name of the movie... hint, hint).
Aldazar Sat, 10th May '08, 6:32pm I'm tempted to take this freebie and then throw it open to anyone who wants it cos I'm gonna be too busy with work and finding a new home and besides, that'd just be meeeaaan :p
Takara Sat, 10th May '08, 6:56pm Who Framed Roger Rabbit? I just put the name of the song in iTunes to hear a clip as the name meant nothing. But when I heard a bit, Daffy Duck and the warner sign immediately sprung to mind.
From me... get ready for this by 2 Unlimited
T2Bruno Sat, 10th May '08, 7:25pm Yes, it was Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
T2Bruno Mon, 12th May '08, 4:18pm My wife has this on her "sport's CD." I just noticed it and played it. I never would have known it from the title.
Space Jam?
Takara Mon, 12th May '08, 5:51pm No. And to move to this song you need "spirit fingers". I just checked wikipedia and it was used in Space Jam, but clearly not the movie I posted this for.
Since you are right, in that this song is in Space Jam, you can go.
T2Bruno Mon, 12th May '08, 6:59pm And to move to this song you need "spirit fingers" I just checked wikipedia and it was used in Space Jam, but clearly not the movie I posted this for.
What? I'm not following you.
Well, I'll go:
People -- Barbara Streisand
Splunge Mon, 12th May '08, 8:09pm Funny Girl?
T2Bruno Mon, 12th May '08, 9:58pm Your turn Splunge.
Splunge Mon, 12th May '08, 10:57pm I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) - The Proclaimers
Takara Mon, 12th May '08, 11:08pm Gregory's Girl?
Splunge Mon, 12th May '08, 11:33pm No. (Or if it is, it's not the one I'm thinking of.)
Splunge Tue, 13th May '08, 9:44pm Somehow, I was hoping my 4000th post would be a bit more significant than just giving a game hint (especially since it's coming before T2's), but here it goes.
The movie is a romantic comedy about two misfits falling in love. It's generally credited for popularizing the song in question in North America.
Splunge Thu, 15th May '08, 4:28am I didn’t think this would be so hard. Last hint:
The movie’s title is based on a brother and a sister. The romance is between the sister and a cousin of one of her brother’s friends.
The cousin is played by a well-respected actor who, in other movie roles, has played (amongst others) a sailor, a director, a man with a very sweet tooth, and someone with unusual appendages.
T2Bruno Thu, 15th May '08, 3:47pm Bennie and Joon? Depp is the common factor there, but still don't remember the song.
Splunge Thu, 15th May '08, 4:39pm That's the one.
You're up, Tim, err, T2
T2Bruno Thu, 15th May '08, 4:44pm We'll go with the Coran song...
Luck Be a Lady -- Marlon Brando
Granted his co-star in the movie, Frank Sinatra, had a more famous version.
Gnarfflinger Fri, 16th May '08, 5:48am The Contender?
Edit I mean On the Waterfront
T2Bruno Fri, 16th May '08, 3:31pm No, I don't believe On The Waterfront was a musical....
Gnarfflinger Sat, 17th May '08, 5:24am I just had a hard time seeing it in A Street Car named Desire...
T2Bruno Sat, 17th May '08, 5:56pm No, this also stars Ol' Blue Eyes.
Gnarfflinger Sun, 18th May '08, 5:01am It wasn't the original Oceans's Eleven, was it?
T2Bruno Sun, 18th May '08, 6:17pm No, Ocean's Eleven didn't have Brando and wasn't a musical.
T2Bruno Mon, 19th May '08, 6:53pm If at first you don't succeed, it's time to stop making it so %$^#&! hard....
Do You Know Where You're Going To -- Diana Ross
The song is more commonly called Theme from ********.
Gnarfflinger Tue, 20th May '08, 4:51am I could at least make some half assed guesses about the Brando song...
T2Bruno Tue, 20th May '08, 3:19pm That you did, Gnarff ... reasonable guesses at that. Now on to Diana....
T2Bruno Wed, 21st May '08, 4:47pm Okay, softball time...
Theme from New York, New York -- Liza Minnelli
Takara Wed, 21st May '08, 6:02pm New York, New York?
T2Bruno Wed, 21st May '08, 8:58pm Your turn Takara.
Takara Wed, 21st May '08, 10:01pm Heh, was very tricky. ;)
Low rider by War I know this was used in Dazed and Confused, but in this movie it was played by the lead character on a stereo to "psyche" up him and his colleagues
Takara Fri, 23rd May '08, 3:42pm This is very surprising! It's a well known, and popular, movie. The lead had this song playing to get his crew ready to steal some cars.
T2Bruno Fri, 23rd May '08, 5:05pm Gone in Sixty Seconds?
Takara Fri, 23rd May '08, 5:35pm yup. The song to "get them in the mood".
T2Bruno Fri, 23rd May '08, 6:41pm Zip-a-Dee-Do-Dah -- it's been in two movies, sung by a main character in each. Either movie will do (dah).
Gnarfflinger Sat, 24th May '08, 6:15am I think the movie was called Song of the South, and the Character was Uncle Remus...
T2Bruno Sun, 25th May '08, 2:21am You have it Gnarf. It was also in Splash.
Gnarfflinger Sun, 25th May '08, 6:09pm "Big Gun" AC/DC
Gnarfflinger Wed, 28th May '08, 5:35am Hint: The movie was a bit of a bomb, but the soundtrack was very good. Arnold Schwartenegger got a few shots in at himself in that one...
Takara Wed, 28th May '08, 10:11am Terminator 3?
Gnarfflinger Thu, 29th May '08, 6:07am No, this was a comedy from about 15 years ago. It wasn't a bad movie, but not a great one either...
Takara Thu, 29th May '08, 10:22am Kindergarten Cop?
Gnarfflinger Fri, 30th May '08, 6:17am No.
Takara Fri, 30th May '08, 10:14am Twins?
T2Bruno Fri, 30th May '08, 3:28pm Twins did well in the theater -- the only Arnie movie I can recall that really bombed was The Last Action Hero. Which was actually pretty funny.
nior Fri, 30th May '08, 5:49pm Don't from which movie the song in question is from but I think Jingle All The Way is another bomb movie for Arnie.
T2Bruno Fri, 30th May '08, 7:52pm That one did so bad I had completely forgotten about it.
T2Bruno Thu, 5th Jun '08, 3:40pm Gnarf -- are you still there???
Gnarfflinger Fri, 6th Jun '08, 6:55am Nobody has it yet.
The answer is "Last Action Hero"...
Someone else take this one...
T2Bruno Fri, 6th Jun '08, 3:00pm Umm, Gnarf -- if you'll look at my post from May 30th you'll see my guess was The Last Action Hero.
Nobody Does it Better -- Carly Simon
Takara Fri, 6th Jun '08, 5:50pm The Spy Who Loved Me.
Aerosmith - I don't want to miss a thing.
T2Bruno Sat, 7th Jun '08, 1:52am Armageddon
Beatles - Nowhere Man
Gnarfflinger Sat, 7th Jun '08, 5:35am Sorry T2. I can't wait for High speed when I can visit the boards during the day...
Takara Sat, 7th Jun '08, 10:39am Yellow Submarine?
T2Bruno Sat, 7th Jun '08, 5:52pm What? No automatic song? How could there have been doubt?!?
Your turn Takara.
Gnarf: Should we type slower?
Takara Sat, 7th Jun '08, 5:59pm lol, I thought it might be since it's a movie with Beatles music, but I couldn't be sure. ;)
Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion. This song plays at the beginning of this movie.
Gnarfflinger Sun, 8th Jun '08, 4:59am No, I just need to be more awake when I come to the boards...
Takara Mon, 9th Jun '08, 11:31pm It plays whilst kids are arriving at their high school, and the opening credits are playing.
Takara Tue, 10th Jun '08, 11:39pm This is surprising as this movie has been used in quote game, and movie scene game recently.
Takara Thu, 12th Jun '08, 2:18pm You should feel ashamed. *sigh* Alright, as soon as the freshman start their first year they get hazed by the seniors, in particular the boys get spanked with wood like cricket bats.
Edit: ok, it wasn't in movie scene game recently, was yet another quote.
Takara Fri, 13th Jun '08, 2:53pm This movie has Ben Affleck, and Matthew McConaughey in it.
The Kilted Crusader Sat, 14th Jun '08, 12:51pm Dazed and Confused?
Takara Sat, 14th Jun '08, 12:57pm You got it! :) This movie is sooo great.
The Kilted Crusader Sat, 14th Jun '08, 11:07pm Huey Lewis And The News - Power of Love
Not the most obvious one for this movie
Cap'n CJ Sat, 14th Jun '08, 11:14pm I'm still gonna say it. Back to the Future.
Takara Sat, 14th Jun '08, 11:18pm Well, I can only think of Back to the Future.
The Kilted Crusader Sat, 14th Jun '08, 11:19pm that's it, too easy. On you go CJ. (Johnny B Goode was the obvious one for that movie, btw ;) )
Takara Fri, 27th Jun '08, 1:21pm Since CJ can't be arsed, i'll IJ. Love is all around you - wet wet wet
nior Sat, 28th Jun '08, 6:16am If I remember correctly, Four Weddings and A Funeral with Hugh Grant
Takara Sat, 28th Jun '08, 10:25am You got it. :) You're up.
nior Sun, 29th Jun '08, 5:07pm 2 versions of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds , one by The Black Crowes and the other by Aimee Mann
nior Wed, 2nd Jul '08, 8:21pm Hmmm, no takers? Hint... the movie is about a retard.
Takara Wed, 2nd Jul '08, 9:39pm Tommy boy?
nior Thu, 3rd Jul '08, 1:04pm Nope, this retard got a daughter... and she's brilliant.
T2Bruno Thu, 3rd Jul '08, 6:29pm Not a very gentle hint but....
I Am Sam
nior Thu, 3rd Jul '08, 8:03pm Sorry if it is a bit harsh. But yup, it is I Am Sam with Sean Penn.
Takara Tue, 8th Jul '08, 6:44pm Gonna post, T2?
T2Bruno Tue, 8th Jul '08, 10:13pm How about Hugh Hefner's theme song:
Thank Heaven for Little Girls -- performed by Maurice Chevalier (no, not that Chev).
Takara Tue, 8th Jul '08, 11:12pm Damn, talk about a hard post. I have no idea on that one.
T2Bruno Thu, 10th Jul '08, 6:42pm Actually, I though this would be easy as it's from one of the top musicals of all time....
I go with something more contemporary....
All By Myself - Jamie O'Neal
Takara Thu, 10th Jul '08, 6:58pm Ghost?
T2Bruno Thu, 10th Jul '08, 9:05pm No, not Ghost. Jamie O'Neal is a relatively new vocalist from Australia (hit the US country charts in 1999, IIRC). The movie is from 2001.
Takara Thu, 10th Jul '08, 9:50pm I listened to the song on iTunes, and sadly saw the movie name, so can't guess. I knew why the song sounded familiar. I really enjoyed that movie.
nior Fri, 11th Jul '08, 6:33am Bridget Jones Diary?
T2Bruno Fri, 11th Jul '08, 3:16pm Your turn nior.
nior Fri, 11th Jul '08, 7:49pm The Story - Norah Jone
Takara Fri, 11th Jul '08, 8:30pm Thomas Crown Affair?
nior Tue, 15th Jul '08, 1:04pm Sorry for the delay. Nope, not TTCA. This one's a fairly recent one. And Norah Jones gets to be in the lead actress.
