View Full Version : Movie associated with a song game #2
Mon, 25th Jun '07, 8:39am
Here's the rules as originally set by Takara:
OK, Whilst in bed for lots I had this great idea for a new game. You post a song and someone needs to guess the movie. For example if I posted Berlin - Take my breath away the answer would be Top Gun. The only ones you can post are: written for a film, star the band in a brief cameo, or the song will always be linked to the film, like Kenny Loggins - Dangerzone. I and many people will automatically say to themselves...... "yeeeehah, Jesters dead...." from Top Gun. You cant post say Coldplay - Clocks just because it was used in Confidence.
And it's apparently T2Bruno's turn.

Last Dance -- Donna Summer
Wed, 27th Jun '07, 3:42pm
Wow, no takers? This even won an Oscar for Best Original Song in the late 70's.
Wed, 27th Jun '07, 4:27pm
Wed, 27th Jun '07, 11:44pm
No, not shaft. This is a movie about an evening at a Los Angeles night club -- complete with a performance by the Commodores.
Edit: I win! I don't think anyone is going to get the Donna Summer song.
I'll try another:
How do I Live by Trisha Yearwood.
Trivia: The song was originally recorded by Leann Rimes, but the producers of the movie didn't like her pop/little girl sound and Leann refused to re-record it -- so they brought in Trisha Yearwood for a more mature version to be used with the movie. Leann released her version after hearing the Yearwood version on the radio.

Hint: The song lost to 'My Heart Will Go On' from Titanic for best original song.
Sat, 30th Jun '07, 9:02am
Con Air. Didn't see your edits.
Sun, 1st Jul '07, 3:49am
Your turn Takara.
Sun, 1st Jul '07, 9:51am
Here's a song I think was witten for this movie. It's my favourite guitar instrumental by FAR.
Edward & Alex Van Halen - Respect the Wind
Tue, 3rd Jul '07, 10:56pm
Ok, this song plays during the end credits. A mini hint is in the song title. Maybe this film has something to do with wind...
Thu, 5th Jul '07, 12:12am
You'll Know this song but I bet you just can't place its name. Mega hint time, the wind in particular is tornados
Thu, 5th Jul '07, 3:31am
Thu, 5th Jul '07, 8:54am
Yup. It is Twister. I bought the soundtrack for £2 just because it had this song on it.
Fri, 6th Jul '07, 4:08am
Like Lovers Do - Heather Nova
Fri, 6th Jul '07, 4:24am
Fri, 6th Jul '07, 5:27am
That was quick and that was right.
Sat, 7th Jul '07, 3:51am
huh, who'dve thunk haha, I never win this game :D
okay.. Haddaway - What is love
Sun, 8th Jul '07, 4:00pm
I think I know the song. Can hum it. Hint to the film? I'm sure i've seen this film but can't think of it straight out. :(
Mon, 9th Jul '07, 3:40am
after seeing this film, its impossible to hear the song and NOT see a couple of actors bopping their heads to one side :D
Mon, 9th Jul '07, 2:53pm
Heh, might be impossible for you but obviously not for me.
Mon, 9th Jul '07, 6:02pm
hehe okay, seeing as how you're the only one that even has a feeling about it, i'll give you another hint:
the 2 main characters of the movie originated from an SNL (Saturday Night Live) skit. The 2 actors playing them were also regular cast members at one time or another on SNL.
and the head-bopping comment was a hint too. everytime the 2 would start to dance, the first move would be to bop their head to one side over and over. to the left side iirc haha but I'm not sure.
Mon, 9th Jul '07, 11:17pm
Kevin And Perry go large?
Tue, 10th Jul '07, 2:20am
Tue, 10th Jul '07, 12:08pm
hmm, didn't think this one would be a stumper although I did see it on cinemax...
the 2 characters in question are brothers (one short, one tall) and they both try hitting on girls with the dumbest lines. The taller brother is the dumber one.
Wed, 11th Jul '07, 3:21pm
Damn, I've seen this one, or at least a bit of it, on TV a few years back. Too bad it was so bad I didn't bother to find out what it was called.
I can see the bopping heads and hear the song in my head now and it's haunting me. :bang:
Thu, 12th Jul '07, 7:18am
A night at the Roxbury? That could be it...
Thu, 12th Jul '07, 12:34pm
Doug and Steve Butabi hehe, wish I could see this movie again. "I was, like, "Emilio!"" :D
Thu, 12th Jul '07, 1:50pm
I know the song, not the film. No idea why I thought I did.
Mon, 16th Jul '07, 3:10pm
Gnarff... it's been four days...
Thu, 19th Jul '07, 9:28am
IJ time. Billy Idol - White wedding
Thu, 19th Jul '07, 10:04am
Thu, 19th Jul '07, 10:19am
You got it. :D
Thu, 19th Jul '07, 2:48pm
Stan Bush - The Touch
Sat, 21st Jul '07, 11:02am
c'mon, nobody knows this one??
This was an in-continuity movie version of a popular series. (Read: one those ______:The Movie types of titles :p )
IIRC they played the song a couple of times throughout the movie, but they played practically (if not the whole song) in the final battle, after the protagonist stopped getting his ass handed to him and started to win the fight.
Sat, 21st Jul '07, 11:18am
Power Rangers - the movie? No clue but i've never seen ANY tv show made into a movie.
Sat, 21st Jul '07, 11:41am
nope, think late 80s-early 90s Tak ;)
I'm not sure how popular this was over there in Europe, but it was extremely popular in the U.S and, as a result, here in the Philippines as well.
It also launched a couple of spin-offs and even a 3D spinoff iirc. It's still around now I believe, but its been so revamped from the original that I can't bear to watch any of the new stuff. Never bothered with the spinoffs either.
Thu, 26th Jul '07, 4:59pm
wow, can't believe no takers
okay, last hints, if still nobody gets it from these i'll declare a stumper and post another.
The series in question was a cartoon and although this song was played in the "cartoon movie" version, a live action movie was released afterwards. The live action movie has it's own story and is not in-continuity.
Thu, 26th Jul '07, 6:54pm
Based on your hints, not the song, I guess:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Sun, 29th Jul '07, 1:44pm
Transformers... The Movie?
I believe there's now a 3D cartoon, but I don't remember a live-action movie.
Tue, 31st Jul '07, 10:41am
you've got it Carcaroth.
And the live-action movie I was referring to was the one that came out just last month :D I just phrased it that way so that it wouldn't be too obvious.
Thu, 2nd Aug '07, 2:02pm
I remember seeing the cartoon film at the cinema for one of my friends birthdays. Or was that Battle of the Gobots...
"Keep Holding On"
Bad bad movie, and not a particularly suitable song.
Tue, 7th Aug '07, 12:26pm
Tue, 7th Aug '07, 2:30pm
Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich and Robert Carlyle all should have known better.
Tue, 7th Aug '07, 9:40pm
Dayam! Good actors! But that clue, whilst outstanding, is no help, obviously haven't seen it.
Wed, 8th Aug '07, 9:06pm
Based on a book written by a kid
Thu, 9th Aug '07, 1:34am
Thu, 9th Aug '07, 4:59am
Based on the hints I can confirm that is Eragon. And yes, that movie was a giant turd.
Thu, 9th Aug '07, 9:19am
woo-hoo, give it to the giant eye-ball.
Mon, 13th Aug '07, 3:41pm
IJA time. Big Pig - I can't break away. On hearing this you can't fail to know the movie!
Tue, 14th Aug '07, 6:49pm
Well, the band name might not help. A friend from Australia was playing them once, doesn't mean they're from Australia. It plays in the opening credits to this film. You should all know the film, heh I can post almost every song off the soundtrack, you might not know the group, but you'll know the song if you heard it.
Tue, 14th Aug '07, 11:01pm
Aaargh. Big Pig are terrible. I would have mentally blocked any film that had a Big Pig song in it. That Breakaway song is unbearable.
Tue, 14th Aug '07, 11:44pm
You think so? I really like it. ok then i'll give you another from same movie. Powertool - Two heads are better than one
Wed, 15th Aug '07, 6:22am
Texas Chainsaw Massacre - that crappy re-done version?
Wed, 15th Aug '07, 6:39am
Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey
Wed, 15th Aug '07, 9:47am
No and No, almost starfox, almost...
Wed, 15th Aug '07, 12:20pm
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure? Been too long since I saw that movie but I vaguely recall Big Pig bring played in a scene set in their future
Wed, 15th Aug '07, 12:57pm
Yup, it was when the phone booth first came in as a gold cone during the opening credits.
Mon, 20th Aug '07, 7:51am
Okay, well due to a brainfreeze, here's a pretty easy one...
"Stuck In The Middle With You" by Stealer's Wheel
Mon, 20th Aug '07, 12:09pm
What about "Back in Time" by Huey Lewis and the News for Back to the Future? Huey Lewis played Marty's music teacher in 1985 (he was a judge for the battle of the bands), and I think The News played back-up.
Mon, 20th Aug '07, 1:20pm
Sir Bel, ???
Aldazar's is Resevoir Dogs.
Tue, 21st Aug '07, 11:55am
Wed, 22nd Aug '07, 4:38pm
Angelo Badalamenti and someone else whose name whould give the game away even more easily.
Thu, 23rd Aug '07, 6:04pm
More famous for the cult TV series?
"Falling in Love" being the lyric.

Mon, 3rd Sep '07, 8:57am
Well, it's been over a week sicne he logged in, so i'll follow the movie scene game ands IJ.
Staying Alive by the Bee Gees.
I know this was written and made for Saturday Night Fever, but this was used in a very memorable scene in a very funny film.
Mon, 3rd Sep '07, 10:32am
Sorry, was on Holiday.
It was Fire Walk with Me - i.e. Twin Peaks.
Tue, 4th Sep '07, 8:57am
It confuses me that this hasn't been got straight away. You'll all definately know the film! The scene was a joke on the film Saturday night fever.
Tue, 4th Sep '07, 10:05am
Tue, 4th Sep '07, 11:54am
You got it. :) I found that scene hilarious.
Tue, 4th Sep '07, 12:50pm
Tracks of My Tears - Smokey Robinson
Tue, 4th Sep '07, 2:58pm
Well, it was in Platoon... but it's also been in several others. You should give a hint for a song that has been in several movies.
Wed, 5th Sep '07, 3:30am
Oooops, sorry, I didn't know it was in a lot of movies. But you actually got it, I was thinking about Platoon.
Wed, 5th Sep '07, 3:37pm
Somewhere Out There - Linda Ronstadt
Fri, 7th Sep '07, 3:51pm
Hint: Oscar nominated song from a 1986 animated film about a mouse.
Fri, 7th Sep '07, 5:15pm
The secret of NIMH?
Fri, 7th Sep '07, 5:49pm
Oooh, very close. But not quite.
Fri, 7th Sep '07, 6:42pm
The only one I can think of is The Great Mouse Detective, but that doesn't seem to be right to me.
Sat, 8th Sep '07, 3:57am
Wow, I can't believe this one is still open. Just the song should have done it for the 'experts' here. Me, I am very bad with song/artist names so I usually do not have a chance with this game. But the second hint nails it. Took me a whole day to remember the title so I thought sure it would be gone. Hope this is right:
An American Tail
Sat, 8th Sep '07, 2:41pm
Chas - you're right. How did that stay unanswered for so long? Even I could have got that (if I'd noticed it earlier)
Sun, 9th Sep '07, 2:34am
Yes, Chas is correct.
I thought it would be an easy one for everyone.
Sun, 9th Sep '07, 3:16am
Like I said in my answer above, I am not good at this game so this should be a freebie to the first reader:
The first movie associated with Shirley Bassey
(Can't give the song title for obvious reasons and I did not realize that she did 3 JB until I just looked her up to verify the spelling)
Sun, 9th Sep '07, 6:49am
Sun, 9th Sep '07, 7:05am
Of Course. Let your golden fingers type in a new game.
Sun, 9th Sep '07, 3:22pm
"Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer
Sun, 9th Sep '07, 3:35pm
GARR! I know the song, and I have seen a film it was used in... what is it? GAH!
Edit: All i'm thinking of right now is in Austin Powers where he dances to destroy the Fem bots, but i'm sure it's not that.
[ September 09, 2007, 17:54: Message edited by: Takara ]
Mon, 10th Sep '07, 3:54am
I'm sure I've seen that movie with the "Kiss Me" song but I just can't remember... hint.
Mon, 10th Sep '07, 10:02pm
A lot of responses here, but no actual answers.........
Mon, 10th Sep '07, 10:24pm
Mon, 10th Sep '07, 11:14pm
Ah, no. Not Face/Off......
Tue, 11th Sep '07, 4:48am
She's All That?
Fri, 14th Sep '07, 1:20pm
Of course. Freddie Prinze Jr's finest hour. Your turn, nior.
Mon, 17th Sep '07, 3:58am
An easy one...
A Love Before Time - Coco Lee
Tue, 18th Sep '07, 6:52am
uh.. mulan? haha
Tue, 18th Sep '07, 7:56am
Right nationality but wrong movie.
Wed, 19th Sep '07, 4:38pm
I went on to itunes to hear the song and see if it conjured up any memories, and it said the film name. Saw it once a while ago, didn't really like it so wouldn't have got it. But since I saw the film name it disqualifies me from guessing/posting the film.
Wed, 19th Sep '07, 11:36pm
The only Chinese movie I know...
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Thu, 20th Sep '07, 7:17am
Right you are Bruno.
Sat, 22nd Sep '07, 7:24pm
Going for easy here...
Chim, Chim, Cher-ee (I'm not telling who sings it). :p
Sat, 22nd Sep '07, 10:18pm
Mon, 24th Sep '07, 8:23pm
Takara has it.
Mon, 24th Sep '07, 9:03pm
I was thinking "You gotta be joking" hence the question mark.
The Timewarp by, well saying the actors names will give it away dead quick.
Mon, 24th Sep '07, 9:45pm
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Mon, 24th Sep '07, 10:49pm

Tue, 25th Sep '07, 12:48am

Tue, 25th Sep '07, 3:52am
Wed, 26th Sep '07, 5:20am
cool, i never win here haha :D
Kula Shaker - Hush
Wed, 26th Sep '07, 6:37am
I vaguely recall hearing this in one of the "recent" teen-slasher/thriller films along the lines of the Last Summer trilogy, the Scream trilogy, Disturbing Behaviour etc, gonna guess "I Know What You Did Last Summer"
Mon, 8th Oct '07, 2:05pm
Mon, 8th Oct '07, 4:03pm
oh, crap sorry I totally forgot about this one
Aldazar is correct.
Mon, 15th Oct '07, 6:18am
Anyway, here's another (probably) easy one, from a really bad movie I saw on the weekend - I was bored:
"Can't Take My Eyes Off You" performed by one of the main actors
I know this song has been in a few movies but this time around there's about half a dozen different takes on it in the one performance
Tue, 16th Oct '07, 5:30am
10 things i hate about you?
Thu, 18th Oct '07, 6:46am
Nope, it's a sequel
Thu, 18th Oct '07, 3:42pm
When a song has been in multiple movies, the hint should either ensure there is only one answer or an answer from ANY of the movies is correct.
Aldazar, you should have supplied some information in your original hint to differentiate it. Enagonios provided a correct answer and he should go.
Your hint could also have been correctly answered with The Fabulous Baker Boys or Scooby-Doo (plus whatever movie you have in mind with the second hint).
Tue, 23rd Oct '07, 6:34am
I understand all that T2Bruno, that's why I added in my first posting that there are about half a dozen different versions of the song performed in the one sequence, I thought that would make sure to differentiate this particular film from all the rest where it's one straight performance by the particular artist in the one style in any other movie that this song appears in, hence:
I know this song has been in a few movies but this time around there's about half a dozen different takes on it in the one performance Anyway, I don't mind either way, if Enagonios wants to go by all means go, otherwise a glaring hint: Jamie Kennedy, Alan Cumming
Tue, 23rd Oct '07, 7:51am
its okay, I'll pass on it, don't have a song prepared myself haha.
Wed, 24th Oct '07, 1:04pm
Give a different hint as that conjures absolutely nothing?
Thu, 25th Oct '07, 12:18pm
Well, since I probably won't be back for a few days:
This is the sequel to a Jim Carrey movie which was infinitely better than this sequel
Thu, 25th Oct '07, 4:49pm
The only Jim Carrey sequal I can think of, and seen, is Ace Ventura 2: When nature calls, but it didn't have Jamie Kennedy and Alan Cumming, so i'm stumped.
Edit: Just looked on imdb. They made a sequal to this film, and you watched it?? FREAK!
[ October 25, 2007, 16:59: Message edited by: Takara ]
Thu, 25th Oct '07, 6:52pm
Solely based on the hints, I'm guessing Mask 2, which I fortunately never saw.
Thu, 25th Oct '07, 9:13pm
Well, since Aldazar said he won't be back for a few days, probably, I can confirm you are correct DMC.
Fri, 26th Oct '07, 11:40am
I'm here briefly, got called in to work so I can pop in for a quick visit, and yes, it is The Mask 2 (or Son Of The Mask as it's known here)
Fri, 26th Oct '07, 5:18pm
Dream Weaver, Gary Wright
Sat, 27th Oct '07, 6:46am
Wayne's World. They played the song whenever they showed Cassandra (Tia Carrere).
Sun, 28th Oct '07, 2:00am
Right movie, but it was shown with the blond waitress.
Sun, 28th Oct '07, 6:45am
That was Foxy Lady by Jimi Hendrix, I thought...
Next clue, possible softball, maybe not...
"Open Arms" by Journey.
Tue, 30th Oct '07, 2:39pm
Contrary to the title, Open Arms was in Heavy Metal (early 80's). It's been in several movies since then.
Wed, 31st Oct '07, 5:04am
Your are right, Bruno, That's the one I was thinking of.
Wed, 31st Oct '07, 2:41pm
I Wanna Be Like You by Louis Prima (swing and jazz musician)
A hint: The movie was recently re-released on DVD (a big 2 dvd anniversary edition).
Mon, 5th Nov '07, 6:19pm
A recent re-release was the Jungle book, but seriously I have no clue.
Mon, 5th Nov '07, 7:10pm
It is Jungle Book. Your turn Takara.
Mon, 5th Nov '07, 8:10pm
Hehe, haven't seen that in YEARS!
lol now for one I thought of recently. Every sperm is sacred by some children who sang it for this film.
Mon, 5th Nov '07, 9:36pm
Must resist... must resist....
Tue, 6th Nov '07, 7:12am

Wed, 7th Nov '07, 10:03am
Been used in many films. Dazed and Confused being one.
Thu, 8th Nov '07, 6:24am
That's teh one I was thinking of. You're up.
Thu, 8th Nov '07, 12:47pm
Cool. Okey doke. Windmills of your mind by Noel Harrison
Thu, 8th Nov '07, 4:49pm
The original Thomas Crown Affair. It was covered by Sting for the remake (entirely unnecessary).
Thu, 8th Nov '07, 5:15pm
Hehe, you got it.
Thu, 8th Nov '07, 5:38pm
We Have All the Time in the World Sung by Louis Armstrong
Thu, 8th Nov '07, 5:45pm
lol, too easy, but i'll let someone else to for it. :)
Fri, 9th Nov '07, 6:49am
I know the main character but not which movie...
Fri, 9th Nov '07, 7:17pm
Unlike most songs in related movies, this one does not 'tell it like it is.' In fact, they have no more time together at all.
Sat, 10th Nov '07, 6:20am
On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
Sun, 11th Nov '07, 2:28am
That would be it, Gnarff.
Sun, 11th Nov '07, 5:49am
"Immortally Insane" by Pantera.
Wed, 14th Nov '07, 1:50am
A hint perhaps?
Wed, 14th Nov '07, 6:38am
It's an animated film that features voices of Michael Ironside and Billy Idol.
I thought someone would have got this by now...
Wed, 14th Nov '07, 10:06pm
Heavy Metal 2000.
Thu, 15th Nov '07, 6:41am
Yes, that's the one. You're up.
Thu, 15th Nov '07, 4:06pm
Diadems by Megadeth
Sun, 18th Nov '07, 11:24pm
Oh for ****'s sake. :) It was Tales from the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight.

Tue, 20th Nov '07, 7:35pm
Here's a meatball:
Iris, Goo Goo Dolls
Wed, 21st Nov '07, 3:05am
That would be City of Angels.
Wed, 21st Nov '07, 7:18pm
That would indeed.
Thu, 22nd Nov '07, 2:58am
An easy one:
Cavatina - Stanley Myers version
Sun, 25th Nov '07, 5:28pm
Evidently, not that easy... hint?
Mon, 26th Nov '07, 2:52am
Guess I was wrong about it being easy. Here's a hint.
The movie introduced "Russian roulette" to a lot of viewers.
Mon, 26th Nov '07, 5:52am
Mon, 26th Nov '07, 7:42am
Yup, it is the Deer Hunter.
Tue, 27th Nov '07, 3:54am
"Who Made Who" by AC/DC

No. It's a Stephen King Movie...
Sun, 2nd Dec '07, 10:45am
Sun, 2nd Dec '07, 3:42pm
Okay, so you've narrowed it down to ~20 movies. Are you going to give a substantial hint or make Tak list every one. ;)
Mon, 3rd Dec '07, 7:23am
For crying out loud, the Album "Who Made Who" is the soundtrack for the movie...
Besides, I thought Carrie was fromt he 1970's...
Mon, 3rd Dec '07, 9:52am
We're obviousoly not AC/DC fans. :p Searched for the album and saw the film name. Never saw it, so wouldn't have guessed it, even with hints.
Mon, 3rd Dec '07, 11:26am
The only movie with AC/DC song I know is "Maximum Overdrive". That would be my wild guess.
Tue, 4th Dec '07, 3:23pm
You should go nior... wiki says you're right.
Tue, 4th Dec '07, 4:42pm
Yeah, and I can also confirm nior is right.
Wed, 5th Dec '07, 5:57am
Yikes, I scored a hit.
Next song is a give-away if you happen to read my other posts:
Bird Gerhl by Antony and the Johnsons
Wed, 5th Dec '07, 7:45am

Fri, 7th Dec '07, 5:23am
Hints: The lead male character's face was never shown in the entire movie, while the lead female got her hair shaved.

I don't know the song, woulda gotten it if I saw the hint though :P
Sat, 8th Dec '07, 7:30pm
I only got it from the hint as well.
White Christmas -- Bing Crosby. The movie the song was written for please.
Mon, 10th Dec '07, 3:05am
The song was played during V and Evey's dance. It was kind'a subdued in the movie.
No idea with T2's entry.
Mon, 10th Dec '07, 4:38pm
So... was it not written for the film "White Christmas", starring... Bing Crosby?
Mon, 10th Dec '07, 4:54pm
Actually, the movie 'White Christmas' was written for the song -- which had huge appeal since it's introduction in a movie 12 years earlier (which also starred Bing Crosby).
In fact, the movie and song were so popular, a chain of hotels was named after the movie to cash in on the name recognition....
Tue, 11th Dec '07, 1:41pm
Hilton? I don't know if there's a movie called Hilton, just thinking of hotel chains. My knowledge of Bing Crosby is zip!
Tue, 11th Dec '07, 3:36pm
Tue, 11th Dec '07, 7:43pm
Splunge has it. I should know better than to do Christmas stuff....

Good ol' Bond. The spy who loved me.
Wed, 12th Dec '07, 7:22pm
Your turn Takara.
Wed, 12th Dec '07, 8:35pm
So many to choose from... Carly Simon - let the river run
Thu, 13th Dec '07, 4:57am
I once had a cassette tape with lesser-known songs-from-movies on it, this was one of those songs and that's the only movie I actually remember from the tape, though I think it may have had a song from Scrooged on it
Thu, 13th Dec '07, 10:08am
Interesting, but sadly no. This song won Carly Simon an oscar for songs written for films. I loved it ever since I saw this film, so got it on my comp to play often.
Fri, 14th Dec '07, 11:02am
This is quite surprising. Only Aldazar has made an intresting, but wrong, guess. Ok, hints: This was for a movie in late 80s, and it was based in New York. At the beginning, and end, of the film you see the world trade centre as this song is playing. Such a horrendous act to destroy it on 9/11.
Fri, 14th Dec '07, 4:51pm
 Working Girl.
Fri, 14th Dec '07, 4:53pm
You got it. Tsk Tsk, took you long enough.

You'll be in My Heart -- Phil Collins.
Sat, 15th Dec '07, 7:00pm
Sat, 15th Dec '07, 9:56pm
Well, I know it as I saw the film name when looking to hear the song on itunes. Never saw it, and wouldn't have got it anyway.

Sun, 16th Dec '07, 4:26pm
Enagonios has it.
Mon, 17th Dec '07, 3:02am
J Ralph - Kansas City Shuffle
Tue, 18th Dec '07, 2:55am
How about a hint.
Tue, 18th Dec '07, 5:36am
hmmm, okay. This was released in the first quarter of 2006 and according to imdb it received 4 wins and 3 nominations. It has a star-studded cast and the song is quite prominent in the movie.
Aside from the whole song being played in the last scene and finishing during the credits, it also played during the movie's trailer. More significantly, the definition of a "Kansas City Shuffle" is discussed by one of the movie's lead actors at the beginning of the movie, and its mentioned a couple of times later in the movie towards the end as well.
Sat, 22nd Dec '07, 11:02am
Right, I killed it. Anyway, the movie in question was Lucky Number Slevin. A surprisingly entertaining movie imo.
This next one is a lay-up for the next person.
Aqua - Turn Back Time
I have a feeling Takara's gonna get this :D
Sat, 22nd Dec '07, 11:20am
LOL! I just guessed this movie in the movie scene game. Sliding Doors. I don't know if they used this in the film, or just the trailer. But i've used a trailer song myself before.
New song to guess: I will find you by Clannad
Sun, 23rd Dec '07, 3:42am
haha I remember it from the trailer also. I saw you make the guess in the scene game and just used it. I figured, if I'm gonna toss one in the air, it might as well be a sure catch :D
Sun, 23rd Dec '07, 5:29pm
Was a very good song to post. I'd never have thought of posting that one in a million years.
Mon, 24th Dec '07, 3:28pm
That HAS to be from The Last Of The Mohicans, the scene after the girls have been taken by Magwa and they are being pursued by Chingachgook Uncas and Hawkeye
Mon, 24th Dec '07, 5:06pm
Yup, you got it. I love that song, and I love that film. :D
Mon, 24th Dec '07, 5:12pm
Ditto, never fails to bring a tear to my eye...and I always cheer when, after seeing Uncas die at Magwa's hand, Chingachgook does his roll under Magwa's swing and then absolutely hammers him with that spiked axe-thing
Anyway, hopefully this is a softball:
"After Dark" by Tito and Tarantula
Mon, 24th Dec '07, 6:48pm
On hearing this it does ring a bell, but i'm not sure where from. My mind is saying Tarantino. Probably not, but i'll guess Jackie Brown?
Tue, 25th Dec '07, 6:17am
You're close on the Tarantino connection, he's definitely involved in this film both behind the scenes and in front of the camera, Not Jackie Brown though
Tue, 25th Dec '07, 10:46am
Resevoir Dogs? I'd have guessed Pulp Fiction, but he doesn't star in that one.
Tue, 25th Dec '07, 10:55am
No on both counts, though he does have a role in Pulp Fiction, he plays Jimmy, the guy Jules and Vincent take the car to after Marvin gets shot in the head, right track still though, he did have a hand in writing this film
Tue, 25th Dec '07, 11:39am
From Dusk Till Dawn? I know i've seen a film using this song!, gah! is it when Salma Hayek is doing the dance?
Tue, 25th Dec '07, 12:06pm
Indeed it is! I have both the DVD and the CD soundtrack and that track is often on repeat for an hour or so every few days, I can't honestly say I've ever seen anything in a movie which even comes close to oozing so much so much sex appeal.
Anyway, take it away Takara
Tue, 25th Dec '07, 12:13pm
When I went on to itunes to try and hear a snippet of the track, I was like :bang:. I knew i'd heard it. My brain was saying Tarantino, but also dancing. I thought Strictly Ballroom was out, so I thought Jackie Brown when DeNiro is in the van with dancy Bridget Fonda. The brain canh be a harsh misstress sometimes! :(
Since that has knackered me out, i'll make mine a bit easier then I would have.
All Saints - Pure Shores
Tue, 25th Dec '07, 12:19pm
Not The Beach is it? The one with Leo DiCaprio?
Tue, 25th Dec '07, 12:24pm
Yeah, that it is. :D
Tue, 25th Dec '07, 12:35pm
Ok, another likely softball, only cos I'm stuck for slightly harder ones:
Iirc it's called something like "Morena De Mi Corazon" by Los Lobos, also accompanied by a very cool performance by the main actor in the film
Tue, 25th Dec '07, 7:05pm
Wed, 26th Dec '07, 5:45am
Nope, a little bit more recent this one, about 5 years after La bamba I think
Mon, 31st Dec '07, 4:48pm
I guess another hint may be in order, Antonio Banderas appears in this film
Mon, 31st Dec '07, 8:08pm
Mon, 31st Dec '07, 8:21pm
Wed, 2nd Jan '08, 9:37am
Take it Takara, It's the opening song in Desperado
Wed, 2nd Jan '08, 10:50am
Really? Only saw it.... once or twice. I figured Mexican or Spannish song with Antonio Bandereras, I started to think Desperado. Next i'd have guessed Once upon a Time in Mexico.
OK: Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps by Doris Day
Thu, 3rd Jan '08, 12:16pm
Heh, Kuemper would probably get this real quick. If you've seen this film, on hearing this song then you can't fail to picture the two leads dancing.
Fri, 4th Jan '08, 12:33pm
Well, you saw the hint about this song playing whilst the leads dance, this film is set in Australia, and is imo Baz Luhrmann's best film.
Mon, 7th Jan '08, 6:09pm
Well, seems i've defeated you. Is Strictly Ballroom. When the two are dancing whilst Tina Sparkle is on the dancefloor, it's wonderful. An easier one, You shook me all night long by Ac/DC. And this was performed by them during this film.
Tue, 8th Jan '08, 3:37am
Private Parts. (the Howard Stern movie).
Tue, 8th Jan '08, 10:19am
Indeed it is. such a funny movie.
Wed, 9th Jan '08, 5:39am
While we're on the theme of actually performing the sone in the movie:
"Feed My Frankenstein" by Alice Cooper.
Wed, 9th Jan '08, 5:47am
Wayne's World...
"We're not worthy! We're not worthy!"
Wed, 9th Jan '08, 5:56am
That's right. Man was that quick.
Wed, 9th Jan '08, 6:05am
The Beatles "Twist And Shout"
This may be in other movies than the one I'm thinking of so in this film it's "performed" by the lead character in the middle of a packed street
Wed, 9th Jan '08, 8:19am
Ferris Bueller's Day Off?
Wed, 9th Jan '08, 1:20pm
It is indeed
