View Full Version : SP League of Nations

I'm curious as to just how many nations we have represented here at SP. While there is a "From" line at the bottom of each person's posts, many people put up fictional places (DR's 'land of milk and bunny' springs to mind - although I know he's an American) and some people just put up a city. If you aren't familiar with the geography of a particular area, you have no idea what country it is located in. For example, Splunge lists Manitoba. While most people would know that's in Canada, some may not. (Manitoba, that's at the North Pole, eh?)

So let's see how many countries we've got represented here.

I'll start: a dull beginning - the U.S. like dozens of others.

Thu, 13th May '04, 9:27pm
Sweden, like atleast half a dozen others.

Splunge
Thu, 13th May '04, 9:33pm
Manitoba, that's at the North Pole, eh? Well, given that we just had over a foot of snow ( IN MAY! :flaming: ), I'm beginning to wonder.

I'd like to put down Scotland, but I'll probably have to settle for UK.

Scandinavian here, from the area of Finland, and coast-city of Vaasa. In case you do not know, Russia is just east of here. ;)

Prob. in future it will be "USE" :p

England.

I see we have masked the bi-annual 'So where do you come from?' thread in a layer of veneer and class, what have you.

Perhaps a more prominent SP-german (Ragusa) should pipe up in my stead. Anyhow, Germany. Location: The middle of 'old Europe'. :p

Even though Joc already posted on this thread, I shouldn't do it as well, but, since I feel so distant to him, I will anyway. I mean, if I can't touch someone within my arms reach, they are not close to me.

Sweden, BTW.

Slith
Fri, 14th May '04, 12:12am
USA, like one or two... or three... or a lot of us here.

Hugo
Fri, 14th May '04, 12:34am
Holland: The land of clogs and weed

Oxymore
Fri, 14th May '04, 12:34am
The city is called Brussels, which is the heart of Belgium, which is the heart of Europe.

Can someone take an online world map and color each country that's occupied by an SPer?

Falstaff
Fri, 14th May '04, 1:01am
USA - yet another one.

@Oxymore - that's not a bad idea, actually...

Takara
Fri, 14th May '04, 1:15am
I too inhabit that tiny piece of land we call England.

Taluntain
Fri, 14th May '04, 1:17am

Laiwethel
Fri, 14th May '04, 3:31am
Canada, where in Ontario we just had our first Smog Alert of the season. And it's only May. Ick.

Faerus Stoneslammer
Fri, 14th May '04, 5:48am
Another Canuck here...

Isn't this country great? Snowing in Manitoba, smogging in Ontario...*sigh*

Welcome to the west coast of Canada, where the weather is sunny, and we think the snow out east is funny. (Hey, I rhymed  )

Prince George, BC, Canada. (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&countryid=250&addtohistory=&searchtab=address&searchtype=address&address=&city=Prince+George&state=BC&zipcode=&search=++Search++)

Seriously, the best May weather we have had in years. I mean, I may change from pasty white to eggshell or something like that.

Fri, 14th May '04, 11:08am
Zdravo Taluntain (the only thing I learnt from my Slovenian friends), welcome to the EU club.

Spanish by birth, I am settling in Ireland for good.

Fri, 14th May '04, 11:17am
Australia here.

Faragon
Fri, 14th May '04, 12:02pm
Chalk up another one for the Netherlands

Wow, we dutchies are better represented than I thought. I mean, MoN, Apeman, Morgoth, SleepleSS, Big Bald Ranger and of course, me. ;) (And those are just the ones that come to mind.) Not bad for the little country we are :)

Fabius Maximus
Fri, 14th May '04, 1:10pm
Germany, obviously.

Pac man
Fri, 14th May '04, 1:19pm
Another Dutchman here, not stoned though. :D

Master of Nuhn
Fri, 14th May '04, 1:35pm
Wow, we dutchies are better represented than I thought. It's obvious we are well represented, so once again I remind you that you shouldn't think. When you think, you make noise, smell bad, your head hurts, you make my head hurt, and finally you come up with something utterly useless and not interesting. :shake: :p

It's Faragon-bashing week! ;)

Mesmero
Fri, 14th May '04, 2:00pm
Three Dutchies in a row

Xei Win Toh
Fri, 14th May '04, 2:07pm
Chalk up another Swede.

Faragon
Fri, 14th May '04, 2:39pm
Wow, Mesmero and Pac Man, totally forgot about you two... That makes 8 already. Together, we could seize control, and rule these boards as our personal playground! ;)

MoN: Faragon Bashing Week? Please. I've dealt with pawns bigger and badder than you. I remain unimpressed. But keep on practicing, statistically speaking, you'll get it right eventually.

England here

BigStick
Fri, 14th May '04, 2:56pm
Even thought the US is already well represented, I really liked the map link that was given above. So here I am in Oak Forest, Illinois (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&countryid=250&addtohistory=&searchtab=address&searchtype=address&address=&city=&state=&zipcode=60452&search=++Search++)

I retain things better if I can see them. :book:

@ BigStick

I bet Simpsons get to visit you every now and then, Springfield being practically your neighbour. :D

Rhythm
Fri, 14th May '04, 3:15pm
Rhythm is from Malaysia!

Yes, we live up coconut trees in huts made from a combination of strong wood and stone. Tsk tsk, I laugh at you poor Westerners... living in comfortable derelicts that shelter the body from sun and rain. Hahahaha!

But we have Wi-Fi!

Just kidding folks... 'bout the Wi-Fi. ;)

Sir Ai Rayzor
Fri, 14th May '04, 3:40pm
Yeah.. another one from Denmark :)

BigStick
Fri, 14th May '04, 6:32pm
@ Wirhe - Actually, there are towns named Springfield in many of the states in the US. I don't know that the Simpson's Springfield is in Illinois. However, if you ever watched Roseanne, they are located in Lansing, IL, IIRC, where I have relatives living now. :)

Uytuun
Fri, 14th May '04, 8:12pm
Belgium. Not a bad country to live in really. Don't you folks believe what you hear on the news. :p

Yep, i'm from the land of "stiff upper lips" also...that's England. Although we don't all have stiff upper lips, not at all :nono: Despite the way Hollywood might depict us!

Rotku

Splunge
Sat, 15th May '04, 7:10pm
Other Canadians that I can think of:

Mystra's Chosen and Sprite (although she hasn't posted much lately). There's one from Sydney (can't recall who though), and I'm pretty sure there's another from B.C. besides Jag. And I just know I'm missing at least one more, but I'm drawing a blank.

Hmm, I wonder which countries have the most SP members. U.S. would be first I'm sure, but second? Maybe Canada. :)

Edit: add Dragonfly to the list.

chevalier
Sat, 15th May '04, 7:14pm
No, Splunge. Definitely Finland comes second after the US. :shake: :thumb:

There's also a healthy supply of Dutch folks.

Splunge
Sat, 15th May '04, 7:21pm

Only #2 in this thread after Tal, but there used to be quite some of us here.
Keneth of the Darkforest (later renamed to Ryn, spammer :p )
Lynx Lupo (newer one, havent seen him in a while)
Fallen paladin (still around)
kukec (seen very briefly)

There were more of us, to be sure, but most are gone now :(
One really strange thing though... I always play druids, Lynx lupo prefers druids and Keneth has "forest" in his name
Tal, it's your turn to turn into a greeny, tree-hugging bear man :thumb:

Well, just to try to catch up with the Dutch, here is another Belgian :D (from Brussels like Oxymore). Now, since we mentioned him, his location line describes it best (though he just stole that line :p ):

Ce plat pays qui est le mien *starts looking around* I'm sure there is another of our rare kind present somewhere. Hmm, where is he?

Mithrantir
Thu, 20th May '04, 2:15pm

There was this chap here befora ya, by the name of Sirdan (http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_profile;u=00003058). Unfortunately there was something nasty going on in RL. I dont remember what it was, but he was forced to quit :(
