<artof tanz>God i'm a loser.
<artof tanz>Some commercial for a sitcom said this
<artof tanz>wife: "what color are my eyes?!" husband: "34C"
<artof tanz>and I'm like, wtf thats not an RGB value

Seen it? One day, I left my house, looked around, spent a couple minutes adjusting my eyes to daylight and thought "wow, someone made a nice sky, but the colours aren't really natural".

Another time, after playing Duke Nukem on LAN for too long, when I finally walked out, I was like "Where are they camping?" and looking out for guys with bazookas behind storage containers.

Sometimes, when I succeed in something, I think of quest XP values before I can help it. Once, I called my brother a Half Orc with-8-INT, 8 WIS and 6 CHA.

I would also count things in HEXX values (in memory) or, when I still had maths, write "var" when defining things.

Any tales to share?

When I meet people, or see people on TV, I try to figure out what alignment they are. I'm like, he's CE, or he's LN. It was then that I realised I'd played way too much d&d.

Harbourboy - lol - I've done that too. :D

And speaking of "lol", sometimes in converstion, I've had to catch myself before I said "l.o.l." in response to something funny. :shake:

And I keep wanting to put smilies in business letters.

Smilies in any documents... check.
Trying to reload if something goes wrong... check.
Saying "lol" out loud... check.
Thinking that someone has that and that D&D alingment... check.
Thinking "someone made great work at that but it still doesn't look natural" while looking at something real... check.
Trying to use command prompt when in real life...
Seeing my IRC screen when AFK...
Having Chillout or HappyHardcore play on my head...
Trying to cast Teleport Without Error or Dimensional door in real life...
Trying to cast Magic Missile or Finger of Death in real life...
Using "RL" of real life while afk...
Thinking of colors as RGB values...
And lots and lots of more... i'm addicted. :p

@Splunge: I new I forgot about something ;)

Yeah, I said "lol" when flirting with a girl even today. In fact, I said "lmao" once, but, fortunately, there were only men around, none of whom sober.

Smileys on notes for family in the house.

"In real D&D, I'd own this guy. I clearly have better stats" - about a uni teacher, IIRC. Notice "in real D&D".

How about alignment change? Like "Waitasec, it's going to change my alignment." in real life? :shake:

Hehe, it's pretty much the same with me.
Saying LOL out loud... few schoolmates then began to say it as well, and now the whole class is saying lol when there's something funny :)

Same with alignment... i find there are way too many lawful people around. Way to many.

About reloading... i only get that syndrome after extensive playing for a few days. Like 3-4 days of 12+hours play. Otherwise not so much.

Oh, sometimes i can see how my BAB has increased. I'm around +3 by now :D
And i'm so impressed with my dodging... i must have the dodge feat. Not mobility yet though.

hehe

Yeah, the Reload Syndrome :D It's dormant in me, recently, because I haven't played reloadable games often for a long time.

I’ve had a lot of these happen, too. Similar to Malovae’s Vandal Hearts problem, after playing a couple of solid weeks of Fantasy General, I saw a hex grid superimposed on everything… it was like there was an afterimage burnt into my retina. It was somewhat distracting, but went away after a few days.

Hax0r, Sux0r, and Rox0r are now part of my RL vocab. Some of my friends use it, too. It’s not uncommon to have one of us say “you sux0rs so hard la~” out loud. I actually threw that particular one at my mum one day, only to cop “YOU are suck; I am rule” back from her… it seems people pick it up pretty quickly.

By far my funniest “get a grip” moment happened when I was studying at Uni. Four of five of us had brought our computers over to a mate’s place and set up a LAN. We spent most of the night playing TFC (Team Fortress Classic – a multiplayer FPS based on the Halflife engine). TFC has various classes you can play as, and it seemed everyone’s favourite that evening was the sniper. When playing a sniper, to do more damage, you hold the fire button down to “build” your shot. While you do this, your gun projects a red dot on its target. If you’re aiming directly at someone’s head, they will see a red light shining in their eyes. Because they usually die about 1/2 of a second later, people freak out when they see that light. It becomes a reflex to sidestep or duck. Anyway, we finished up at about 3 in the morning, and started packing our gear up. As I didn’t have a car at that stage, a mate was driving me home. I was loading the last of the gear into the boot of his car as he sat down in the driver’s seat and touched the brake. This of course turned the brake lights on. Because of my position, the red of the lights shone straight into my eyes. I skipped sideways and wound up in a bush in the adjacent garden. I explained myself when I had stopped laughing, and the “what the hell are you doing?” looks of the witnesses turned to laughter, too.

There are only 10 types of people in this world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

I've learned binary, and when I started doing some simple mathematics with it, I found out it was much easier than with regular numbers. Somehow it also makes more sense to count this way.

11 + 100 = 111

111 + 1010 = 10001

10001 + 1110 = 11111

I used adding as an example. Do you see how logical this is?

Once I read I post about some guy playing so much racing games and doing things like searching the reset button, well, I thought that is too much... well...
Last month, after played NFS Underground for 6 months, I had an accident, after just hit a tree, I searched for "that" button...
I was on a long - straight road, so when I got about 100km/h, instantly I tried to press space bar... the one I use to NOS...
Crazy man, one day I'll kill myself...

Two months ago I was either very drunk or very very tired. My bank account was running low and I went to www.gamefaqs.com (http://www.gamefaqs.com) looking for a cheat to give me more money...

Worst thing was, failing to find any mention of the game "Simon's Life" I figured there weren't any cheats so I'd have to make my own trainer.

I spent the next 30 minutes using 'GameHack' looking for the "Simon's Life" process.

___

I say "lol" in real life sometimes.

___

I wish I could reload a previous save.

-Lol is a common word I use with my friends as well.

-HC is another one (spelled "h" "c"), stands for hardcore.

-I used to be quite active in my attempts to use the force to switch lights etc. Now I only do it once a few months.

-I often see "stairs" when I look at angled lines in real life, and think "man I need to turn the antialiasing up". Not as much confusing the real with the unreal. It's more of a longing for the ability to change display settings like you could in a computer.

-Reload syndrome happens a few times a year.

-Also when I injure a bodypart, I usually get the thought of throwing it away and ordering a new one in to replace it.

Whenever I'm about to do something that might not turn out quite right, I always forget how to quicksave..... When it hits me that I'm going slightly mad, I force myself out the door and go somewhere for a while. Then I realise I've just wasted 2 hours of good gaming time, and try to load back up to redo the last few hours. I think I need a computer break of a few months..... Then again, what does it matter? If computer games are escapism, I'm an escapist!!!
