That's right up there with that 'Mecca Cola' idea.

Also note the ridiculous term 'Freedom Fries' in the first paragraph.

The term "freedom fries" is intrinsically disordered.

"I hate the French VANILLA"?

Isn't there a law or two against that? Maybe discrimination?

Idiots.

I'm so glad I'm Canadian. Ketchup isn't any good for you anyway.

Thank whatever gods are out there that we Canadians don't have to deal with things like this.

What's next?

I agree. That's probably the dumbest thing I've heard in a little while. ("W Ketchup"...*sigh*).

"W Ketchup comes in one flavor: American." Bleh.

Heh, that was a good laugh.
And I got smacked in the fingers in the FAI for calling Americans silly.
Well, I don't give a sh!t what the political alignment of what I put on my fast food is, as long as it tastes good.

On the one hand, it's an instant IQ test for anyone who buys it. Since in order to feel good about your purchase, you have to believe the silly notion that John Kerry or his wife profits in any way from the sale of Heinz ketchup. Which, by the way, they don't. (http://www.snopes.com/politics/kerry/heinz.asp)

But on the other hand, it's a brilliant business move on the part of the people behind it. They know there is an army of mouth-breathers out there who'll do anything, say anything, believe anything...and yes, BUY anything if they think it helps the right and hurts the left. Christ - these people would buy Nazi memorabilia if John Kerry came out and said something bad about it.

The irony of this is that they choose to display George Washington on the front of a product obviously designed to score partisan political points, when Washington was almost as famous for his distaste for petty partisanship as he was for the "cherry tree" story. This is also, in my opinion (and most historians as well), what made his such a great leader - that he was, truly, the first "uniter, not a divider."

Also - and this is the best part - the actual people who DO run the Heinz Corporation are heavy supporters of - guess who? - the Republican party, giving hundreds of thousands to Bush specifically over the last 4 years. So in effect, by boycotting Heinz ketchup, Republicans are actually hurting Republicans.

Sometimes life is better than fiction. :D

I actually had to check this wasn't a spoof, like the infamous left-handed Mars bar.

W Ketchup product makes about as much sense as that!

Oh boy!
I think there's supposed to be a limit to common sense patriotism, and that's waaaay beyond it...

But what's even scarrier to me, is the fact that this was the top story of the web site. Don't they have anything better to talk about?
