Alrighty, here is poor me, listening to many songs and reading many things which rave about the absolute great and wonderfulness of these birds and their call. Now, I have no idea what the hell they're all on about, and google searchs for it turn up at best, with music sites, and at worst, with porn.

So, does anyone know where I can find me a sound clip of a nightingale? I would like to know what the big deal is all about ;)

Found a dutch site. There is a windows media window just down, click the second the first on doesn't seem to work. In my opinion though it's not that special but maybe that's because it's ductch ;)

Because I'm under the impression that there are no nightingales in Australia. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

And that site kept freezing up :(

It didn't sound that special to me really. I've heard plenty of other birds singing just as beautiful as the N'gale....

Manfred Mann's Earth Band released a record called "Nightingales and bombers" in 1975, which includes a recording by an ornithologist during www2, who was recording nightigales singing while german bombers were passing overhead.

Right, working now.

I really can't see what the big deal is all about. It's just ... a bird chirping. Nothing special in the slightest :-/

Isn't it because of the Fable about Nightingale's?

You know with the chinese king who is very ill and then the ghost from his past visit him, tormenting his thoughts...

And then a Nightingale sings and the ghosts disappear and the king get's better and changes his life...
