I just saw a videoclip from the opening ceremonies. The lighting of the torch takes place in front of the Acropolis. It's a rather impressive setting, I have to admit.

Hmph. I forgot that we're going to get everything much later than it happens. Bummer. I guess I'll see it tonight.

Generally, the opening and closing ceremonies are the two pieces of the Olympics that I never watch. Those, and those annoying figure skating and gymnastics exhibitions where you see the SAME routines you've had shoved down your throat for the past 10 days instead of being able to watch other sports where actual medals are still being contended.

I thought the Greeks did an excellent job with this opening ceremony. It was great. Well, except for Bjork singing.

From what little I've seen of the Ceremony, the torches looked like huge joints.

The TV coverage was great, apart from the fact that they hardly captured New Zealand. We felt a bit hard done by.
