Like the title says: what forums can you recommend for a newbie to stalk? Thus far I have tried several, of which only two have turned out to be decend with somewhat proper moderation and members (SP and AnimeSuki). Others have been either aimed for too young or for people who do not know how to post in non-gibberish (warez =/= l77t-badass-attitude) :p

Put them coming; better than googling around in random. ;)

Do you have any particular interests in mind, or just forums to socialise on?

Well, www.rpgcodex.com (http://www.rpgcodex.com) is decent if you don't behave like a total jerk. I'm not registered there, but nearly all of the topics are a blast to read.

Doesn't matter; I filter them anyway. I just wish to avoid bumping into forums that at first glance look decend, but are rotten from inside. :p

I am lurking quite a lot at the civfanatics.com forums. They are decently moderated and quite fun to read. Big too.

www.indie-rpgs.com (http://www.indie-rpgs.com) has a lot of very interesting discussions, but isn't a place to idly chat at.

I suggest you avoid Civfanatics. :p
The sooner they are killed, the better (the forums are _TOO_ big, and when they were on the same server as my favourite site, it crashed all the time. :p ).

GameFAQs forums are good for pretty much any game under the sun. Decent crowd with active moderators too. I'm there all the time.
