View Full Version : What Forgotten Realms God Do You Follow?
Lord Garak Wed, 8th Sep '04, 4:35pm What Forgotten Realms God do you follow in your gaming and maybe in real life? Have you ever performed any rituals in the name of a certain diety? I follow the godess Tymora(in real life) but I just stick to praying from time to time(ussuasly in times of crisiss). ;) If you want a list of FR dieties try this: Forgotten Realms Gods. (http://www.daggerford.com/daggerford/frgods.htm)

Kelvon Shadowmane Wed, 8th Sep '04, 4:43pm my dear friend Garak... I follow Kossuth (i'm a pyromaniac), Tymora (don't know why...) and Mask for my thief wannabe dreams... :) :) :)
SleepleSS Wed, 8th Sep '04, 9:42pm I follow shar, I'm always 2 steps behind her, just to annoy her, singing songs she hates.
Oh wait a second you didn't mean Follow in that way did you ;)
Jesper898 Wed, 8th Sep '04, 11:35pm I don't follow any gods in real life (certainly not FR gods)
In D&D I usually follow Mielikki.
Master of Nuhn Wed, 8th Sep '04, 11:45pm In life: God, Christ, Jahwe, The Lord, The Holy Spirit etc. No saints or other beings created by God.
D&D: Lathander as main deity. Others: Chauntea, Ilmater, Mielikki, Sune, Kord, some other good aligned deities. No racial pantheons, usually.
Abomination Thu, 9th Sep '04, 1:57am Torm, Helm or Moradin if I'm being a 'nice guy/dwarf' - if not I'm usually following Mask.
Real life? Agnostic.
chevalier Thu, 9th Sep '04, 2:23am Following a Forgotten Realms deity in real life means someone really should see a doctor. Such a person has what it takes to make something up, call it a name and start praying to it one day.
In games, in D&D it depends on how deities are represented - if one's choosing one deity out of the whole pantheon to worship, or if it's a patron deity that's simply more related. The alignment is either LG or NG, at any rate. Out of the NG ones, Lathander would make it the most easily.
Edit: Hehe, it seems I was thinking about something else when posting. Obviously, the second paragraph should have, and now does, start with something like "in games" or "in D&D". Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Xei Win Toh Thu, 9th Sep '04, 10:24am In FR/games: Differs; Llolth, Talos, Tempus, Helm, Baphomet, the list goes on...
Real life: Satan, and related evil powers.
joacqin Thu, 9th Sep '04, 11:39am chevalier, I wonder if you realize just how fun what you just wrote is. ;)
Arabwel Thu, 9th Sep '04, 12:03pm I never kill spiders, and often end up vbowing in front of them.... that clue enough? :p
And yes, i do actuially own a whip. A sucky one, but what can I say, couldn't afford a good one. :p
Ziad Thu, 9th Sep '04, 12:18pm Does the Lady of Pain count as an FR deity?
If yes, then it's her in both gaming AND real life :D
Chevalier, there's an odd complementarity between what you say in the first paragraph and the second :p
Enagonios Thu, 9th Sep '04, 1:28pm talk about a coinky-dinky,i was just thinking of this exact question myself earlier today
I'd have to say that its mostly Torm and Tymora
cultjake Thu, 9th Sep '04, 1:53pm I'm a Techsmith of Gond.
chevalier Thu, 9th Sep '04, 2:17pm Corrected that error. Thanks for spotting.
Ziad Thu, 9th Sep '04, 2:31pm It was an error? :( I thought it made more sense the way it was before the correction ;)
Kelvon Shadowmane Thu, 9th Sep '04, 8:12pm I guess you people really make a lot of difference between games and real life  ... I don't! :thumb:
Well anyhows, if I were to try and differenciate games from RL i would get to the conclusion that I couldn't because in games I do as I would do in RL. So this beeing said, it's time for me to tell you about my FR beliefs in detail (not too much detail):
My patron Godess is Tymora (Good Fortune, Skill, Victory, Adventurers, Adventuring).
My Secondary Gods are: Kossuth :flaming: (Elemental Fire, Fire Elementalists, Purification through Fire), Silvanus (Wild Nature, Druids) Selune :book: (Moon, Stars, Navigation, Navigators, Wanderers, Seekers, Good and Neutral Lycanthropes) and Mask  (Thieves, Thievery, Shadows).
My Minor Gods are: Shar (Dark, Night, Loss, Forgetfulness, Unrevealed Secrets, Caverns, Dungeons, The Underdark), Gond (Artifice, Craft, Construction, Smithwork), Mielikki (Forest, Forest Creatures, Rangers, Dryads, Autumn), Auril (Cold, Winter), Deneir (Glyphs, Images, Literature, Literacy, Scribes, Pictorial and Literary Art, Cartography), Eldath :hippy: (Quiet Places, Springs, Pools, Stillness, Peace, Waterfalls, Druid Groves), Lliira (Joy, Happiness, Dance, Festivals, Carefree Celebration, Contentment, Release, Hospitality Freedom/Liberty; From Waukeen - Trade, Money:$$$:, Wealth) and Shaundakul (Travel, Exploration, Long Range traders, Miners, Caravans, Wind Ghosts).
I mourn the death of: Bhaal :wail: , Ibrundul and Waukeen.
PS: I think this one would be useful as well, considering the fact that it's a lot more complete than the one on Daggerford: The Pantheon of the Realms (http://www.sorcerers.net/Worlds/FR/gods.php) Ow yes, and it's one of "ours" as well.
Takara Fri, 10th Sep '04, 5:22pm Should really be in the D&D forum, like....er...mine. http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/8/737.html.
Like I said there, it has to be Garl Glittergold for me.
Taluntain Fri, 10th Sep '04, 8:44pm Could be in either really, so it might as well stay here.
Kitrax Fri, 10th Sep '04, 9:02pm "Page can't be found" I'm going to try the link in Kelvon's post...
EDIT: Shoot, the one one SP is just a list and not a quize type thing, so I'll just list the ones that best fit me.
Greater Power: Mystra
Intermediate Power: Gond and Tymora
Lesser Power: Azuth
Also, does anyone know if there is a website out there that tells the story of how each of the dead gods died? :rolling:

Kelvon Shadowmane Sat, 11th Sep '04, 12:09am @Kitrax
i would love to find a quiz like webpage about FR gods but I don't think there are any...yet... and about the story of how each of the dead gods died? I think you could read the whole FR history, it's somewhere on the internet... but i can't remember where, so if i find it i'll post you the link :)
Dalveen Sat, 11th Sep '04, 12:19am Anyone notice how the God of Old Age is dead?? :p
Kelvon Shadowmane Sun, 12th Sep '04, 4:27pm @Dalveen
Who in the Nine Hells is The God of Old Age???
And what were you trying to say with that???
Faraaz Sun, 12th Sep '04, 5:38pm I think he was trying to make a joke.
Mask for my thiefy characters, Mystra for my uber-Sorcerer!!
And Lathander for everything else.
SleepleSS Sun, 12th Sep '04, 11:47pm @Dalveen: LOL That one was really funny! Thumbs up!
Jaguar Mon, 13th Sep '04, 6:41am Tymora. Just need a little help from Lady Luck.
teekc Mon, 13th Sep '04, 11:16am i just follow whoever viconia worship.
Apeman Mon, 13th Sep '04, 1:50pm Real life: none
D&D: none, although I (Seemingly) burn in hell for it acording to the badly written rules. Why would you be punished being not a believer and by whom would that be?
Rallymama Mon, 13th Sep '04, 2:04pm @Kelvon:
I guess you people really make a lot of difference between games and real life ... I don't!
Well anyhows, if I were to try and differenciate games from RL i would get to the conclusion that I couldn't because in games I do as I would do in RL. Really? If there's no difference between games and RL for you, why bother playing RPGs at all?
@Apeman:
Why would you be punished being not a believer and by whom would that be? An excellent question, that should be applied to RL as well as games...
And as for my answer, I don't play FR games (other than on the computer, where worship means nothing unless you're a cleric) and in RL I prefer to leave fiction where it belongs.
Septic Yogurt Mon, 13th Sep '04, 10:05pm Ao sounds like a good god to follow.... he creates the other gods to sort stuff out and performs general maintenence.... he kinda sounds like a network operator.
Kelvon Shadowmane Thu, 16th Sep '04, 5:43am @Rallymama
I bother with RPGs because they are a simplifiend version of RL.
@Septic Yogurt
Ao seems kind of boring to me, but your opinion is your opinion. :)
JOKE:
Opinions are like buts, everybody's got one!
Deathmage Fri, 17th Sep '04, 2:32pm My best friend worships Tymora actively...
Benan Sun, 19th Sep '04, 10:01pm In real life and in D&D I follow Erevan Ilesere (Mischeif, Change, Rogues).
Why is it strange for someone to follow a made up god, when I feel that it's strange for people to follow Christianity, Judeism, Cathlicism?
Enagonios Mon, 20th Sep '04, 5:27am i just follow whoever viconia worship. that would be shar iirc
