Yet another one joins the family. He's going to sleep in the crib my grandfather, my cousin, I, my brother, and many other have slept in. Mostly everyone in my family that was born while my grandparents where still alive.

I'm trying to refuse that I'm getting sentimental, but whats the use? I'm sorta hoping to be a godfather again, but that honor should, out of the many males in my family, go to my brother who isin't a godfather yet.

This damn thing won't run anything except MSN and explorer... I done everthing; I've uninstalled et re-installed every games, ( bg2, SW:KOTOR, Icewind dale one and two, Lords of the realm three, Aqua Nox, ToEE) installed new drivers for about everything in the computer. Ask for advices in forum, nothing work. Now it's either I call the computer guy OR I use the hammer. So you probaly won't see me soon.

@ Ofelix - You could try reinstalling windows - if you do so after formatting your hard drive that is practically guaranteed to fix any problems. Of course that leaves the problem of backing up any data that you want to keep.

Hello peeps! Just a quick post from Turkey. Have been having fun (yesterday notwithstanding, though all my mates and family are ok thankfully). Been on boat trips and on the beach and managed to avoid sunburn! Have to go now (internet cafe :rolleyes: ) and I apologise for any dodgy grammar: blame the turkısh keyboards!

@ JSSB, I would only I do not have the Windows XP cd. Trust me if I owned the cd I would have done it. The store where I bought it didn't include the cd in the 1,600 CDN $ price, it included everyother cd (all the programs utility, drivers etc) but NOT Windows.

That's too bad. I would be almost inclined to recommend downloading a cracked copy of windows - assuming you actually have a valid license right now I don't think they could actually prosecute you for installing a cracked version.

Damn its annoying working at my laptop and desktop on the same desk doing two things at once, I keep typing on the wrong keyboard and trying to use the wrong mouse by mistake.

LOL... people here have good memories. Yep, I disappeared shortly before hurricane #3 hit Florida last year... I managed to get through without any damage to my house, but my life got insanely busy helping friends evacuate out of trailers, then a good frind of mine got 2 massive kidney infections, then she had a grand mal siezure (reason is still unknown) and I've been helping her and her hubby stay sane and able to take care of their five year old daughter...
And I had a hard drive meltdown somewhere in there, too.

I was planning on attending the Conestoga 9 Fantasy Fiction Convention in Tulsa this weekend -- where George R.R. Martin (my favorite author!) is the guest of honor and will be speaking and doing book signings. Well, I sent an e-mail stating that I wanted to take some pictures for SP etc. and they sent back an invite to attend a small dinner they've having for him tomorrow night!!!! :D :rolling: :roll:

I was only hoping to see him from afar -- but now I'll be meeting him close up and personal. They also said he'd do a private signing there too.

There was a shooting spree six blocks away at about 9pm tonight. I wasn't home, and almost couldn't get home due to police blocks.
So far, I've heard two dead and three wounded, found at multiple sites within the mobile home park.
The shooter is in custody now, he turned himself over after an hour long manhunt.

This is NOT normal here, and people all around here pretty stunned.

What's so bad about Windows ME, everybody seem to hate it. I got upgraded from win98 to winXP two years ago, everything's fine with me.

Hey y'all! I'm back from Turkey! :wave:

Well, that was a cool holiday. Just me, four mates and a lot of suncream. (In Factor 50 we trust! - damn my pasty physics-geek skin with its null resistance to light!) A few beaches, some general sightseeing, Turkish baths, pool, swimming, bartering ... all good fun! It seems odd to be home, especially as my flatmates are all gone for the weekend & I'm all alone! :sosad:

Oh well, I'll have to find other things to keep me entertained, like computer games. :D

And I would like to add my voice to the chorus of dissent against Windows Me: the Devil-OS :evil: Never have I seen anything so capable of insidiously destroying a computer from within. I shudder to think of the hours I had to put in on my dad's old machine and my old laptop trying to keep them alive.

@ chev: and yes, Turkey was awesome. If you're going with Uni mates, all the better. It's not a relentless-clubbing kind of place (thank God!) and the people are really friendly, at least where we went in the south-west. If you can find good traditional-style Turkish baths, definitely give it a go (although the heat may be too much for some!). Of course, a lot depends on who you go with, and the bunch I went with were really good. No arguments, no pouting, no hesitation on helping out those who were short of Lira. And I managed to teach the Turkish guy who ran the bar at our apartment complex to say "cheerio" by the end of the holiday. A pity I didn't pick up more Turkish, but almost everyone has either English or German. I'd definitely give it a go, if you've the opportunity.

I considered it a downgrade because quite a lot on the laptop isn't compatable with Windows 95 :rolleyes: and I never had any problems with it either. The lady that looked at it thinks that it probably had a faulty HDD and Battery from when we bought it.

George R.R. Martin was GREAT!!!!! :D Got to talk to him a good bit -- and some of his comments in the different sessions were absolutely hysterical!! He's got a wonderfully warped sense of humor that he's not afraid to share -- he had the whole place in stitches. There were times I was laughing so hard, only squeaks were coming out. The dinner was wonderful, but in many ways today was better -- more 1 on 1 time with him.... Absolutely incredible guy! :thumb:

How is she? My grandmother had one a few years ago and she's fine.
