Felinoid Thu, 7th Jul '05, 5:55pm Not to sound too petulant, but I got the last post in RBP#39, and I could have gotten the first one here if I'd wanted to. :p @Ofelix: So what's the plan? College, work, or a year off? Or are you just gonna wing it? :D Ofelix Thu, 7th Jul '05, 6:00pm College of course, In Film Study I am already accepted and I begin my class the 22th August. Plus the college is at 15 minutes in bus from my home, and it's the best in the whole province for film study. and I've got a new gems! yeahness! I have done the 2/3 of the gems so far. Hugo Thu, 7th Jul '05, 6:17pm Whoop! Real early this time! Myth Thu, 7th Jul '05, 6:56pm 666 the number of the beast! Who's bad? Who's baaaaaaaaaaaaad? Felinoid Thu, 7th Jul '05, 7:25pm Thanks a lot, Myth. Now you've made me hungry for lambchops. Arabwel Thu, 7th Jul '05, 9:22pm And I want pie *pouts* Uytuun Thu, 7th Jul '05, 11:22pm The terrorists should keep their hands off London. Hope all SPers are safe. I'm tempted to start a rant about how the world is going mad, but well, it's no use really, is it? ;) Rallymama Fri, 8th Jul '05, 1:15am *token top 10 post* @Ara: Sorry about that, dear. We had to make a stop on the way home and I got those little pies for dessert. Peach for me, apple for Velcro, and Arlyn picked cherry. :yum:  :yum: Harbourboy Fri, 8th Jul '05, 1:17am 11 is the loneliest number that you'll ever play. Nakia Fri, 8th Jul '05, 1:29am 12 is a nice number. It can be divided by itself and 1, 2,3,4, & 6. If we had 6 fingers on each hand and 6 toes on each foot we would be using it instead of ten. 10=twelve. Ha. :hippy: Peace brothers & sisters. el timtor Fri, 8th Jul '05, 1:46am Unlucky 13 for me... Bleh. Having an absolutely wretched day at work. Felinoid Fri, 8th Jul '05, 1:49am I love 13. It's my lucky number. :) reepnorp Fri, 8th Jul '05, 1:54am I'm hungry. And I never realized until just now how dirty I get at work. I cut myself this morning, and when I took off the band-aid just now, theres a pink patch of skin in the rest of my brownish arm! Baezlebub Fri, 8th Jul '05, 2:38am Seriously... these things are getting out of hand. It was only up to 16 last time I was here. Edit: How coincidental... I'm #16... Zurga Fri, 8th Jul '05, 3:34am Yet another one joins the family. He's going to sleep in the crib my grandfather, my cousin, I, my brother, and many other have slept in. Mostly everyone in my family that was born while my grandparents where still alive. I'm trying to refuse that I'm getting sentimental, but whats the use? I'm sorta hoping to be a godfather again, but that honor should, out of the many males in my family, go to my brother who isin't a godfather yet. Still the mists are covering the top of the moutains, so I wish that the people, that live in close proximity of moutains, can enjoy equally beautyfull weather. kuemper Fri, 8th Jul '05, 3:34am Seventeen. So many songs about seventeen. Gnarfflinger Fri, 8th Jul '05, 4:34am I like the Alice Cooper song about 18... Jaguar Fri, 8th Jul '05, 5:08am /me sends good vibes to Barmy, Sarevok and all other Brits on and off SP. Hope you are all alright. Enagonios Fri, 8th Jul '05, 5:27am why the brits? :p RB 40... this is Arabwel's doing :p Felinoid Fri, 8th Jul '05, 5:33am @Enagonios: Haven't you been paying attention? Bomb in London (http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/34/214.html) Zurga Fri, 8th Jul '05, 6:03am Anyhow. To sorta quote Jaguar: Hope your still there. And Arabwel unfairly gets the blame for a lot of stuff. And I like pie, and sadly cheese, darn it. Stefanina Fri, 8th Jul '05, 7:13am Hello. I'm taking bets noone remembers me... :D I fell off the face of the earth about a year ago now, but I'm back. And nervously eyeballing a hurricane... Gnarfflinger Fri, 8th Jul '05, 7:28am Actually I wouldn't remember you, it only seems like an eternity to some that I've been here... Arabwel Fri, 8th Jul '05, 7:33am Welcome back, Stefanina :D *yawn* Mornings suck. Burt at least I now have a valid excuse to go get some pie :) Rallymama Fri, 8th Jul '05, 10:13am Congrats, Zurga, and wb, Stefanina. /me serves everyone pie Charlie Fri, 8th Jul '05, 10:13am Right. THe only thing to do is sleep through them. :) 8people Fri, 8th Jul '05, 12:28pm Welcome back Stefanina! It *has* been a while :spin: hmm... I need to have a lot less stuff, it's taking forever to sort through! [ July 08, 2005, 12:43: Message edited by: 8people ] kuemper Fri, 8th Jul '05, 2:17pm Just got a care package from my mom in Iowa. :yum: Goodness from my hometown to fill my tummy! <I pass pie back to Rallymama> The original, unmodified, Star Wars trilogy, :tie: cheese, books :book: and *beef*jerky*!!! Senses on overload... :xx: Arabwel Fri, 8th Jul '05, 2:55pm *jealous* The last time I had beef jerky was last freaking summer... none of it here. Only reindeer, and that is Not Good. Aikanaro Fri, 8th Jul '05, 4:06pm Blah! The start of my NaNo was as boring as all hell and I was able to keep writing until the interesting bits - why can't that happen now?! Ziad Fri, 8th Jul '05, 5:55pm The problem with taking a holiday after several months of 15+ hours of work a day every day is that you get bored very quickly... Strange rhetoric, I know. I need a good game to play... Pereferably one that runs on a Pentium II :D Ofelix Fri, 8th Jul '05, 7:21pm Computer bad... Computer in final phase... It is miracle I am online. /rant DAMN I despite thee ohhh computer, why hast thou ceased to play my sweet sweet games? Why dost thou crash for unknown and ambiguous reason? Why do I hath to clean (CCcleaner, Adware, Avast!, and Spybot) thee every single day our lord makes, in order for thee to run proprely? Can't thou bring thyself to normal states? Ahhh Thou leave me no choice I hath to take thee to the computer specialist... or use the sweet sweet and mercifull hammer upon thee. Three week of constant computer-nightmare is enough! So sayeth I... err sorry /rant This damn thing won't run anything except MSN and explorer... I done everthing; I've uninstalled et re-installed every games, ( bg2, SW:KOTOR, Icewind dale one and two, Lords of the realm three, Aqua Nox, ToEE) installed new drivers for about everything in the computer. Ask for advices in forum, nothing work. Now it's either I call the computer guy OR I use the hammer. So you probaly won't see me soon. JSBB Fri, 8th Jul '05, 8:12pm @ Ofelix - You could try reinstalling windows - if you do so after formatting your hard drive that is practically guaranteed to fix any problems. Of course that leaves the problem of backing up any data that you want to keep. Arabwel Fri, 8th Jul '05, 8:29pm Hmmm... cherries ae addictive. The Magpie Fri, 8th Jul '05, 8:30pm Hello peeps! Just a quick post from Turkey. Have been having fun (yesterday notwithstanding, though all my mates and family are ok thankfully). Been on boat trips and on the beach and managed to avoid sunburn! Have to go now (internet cafe  ) and I apologise for any dodgy grammar: blame the turkısh keyboards! Ofelix Fri, 8th Jul '05, 9:34pm @ JSSB, I would only I do not have the Windows XP cd. Trust me if I owned the cd I would have done it. The store where I bought it didn't include the cd in the 1,600 CDN $ price, it included everyother cd (all the programs utility, drivers etc) but NOT Windows. JSBB Fri, 8th Jul '05, 10:09pm That's too bad. I would be almost inclined to recommend downloading a cracked copy of windows - assuming you actually have a valid license right now I don't think they could actually prosecute you for installing a cracked version. Damn its annoying working at my laptop and desktop on the same desk doing two things at once, I keep typing on the wrong keyboard and trying to use the wrong mouse by mistake. Felinoid Fri, 8th Jul '05, 10:33pm @JSBB: It helps if you have two chairs. :D  JSBB Sat, 9th Jul '05, 1:45am Well, I am off again. My flight to Dublin leaves at 11 PM tonight. I don't know what the internet situation will be but I will probably be by only sporadically during the next two weeks. I love travelling but three seperate two week trips in a seven week period is proving to be a bit too much for my taste. Gnarfflinger Sat, 9th Jul '05, 4:42am How come everyone else is going on vacation but me? Sucks... But I may get a chance to make my wrestling game... Charlie Sat, 9th Jul '05, 5:15am Enjoy your trip, JSBB. Kiss the Blarney Stone while you're there. :D Jaguar Sat, 9th Jul '05, 7:16am Later JSBB and welcome back Stephania! Weren't you toughing out a hurricane last time you were here as well? Arabwel Sat, 9th Jul '05, 8:05am Hmmm...... *checks inbox frantically* Sometimes mornings are useless :( Enagonios Sat, 9th Jul '05, 8:46am and I apologise for any dodgy grammar: blame the turkısh keyboards! i feel your pain! When I was in Madrid and I was in an internet cafe I couldn't even locate the apostrophes and commas :o Stefanina Sat, 9th Jul '05, 8:54am LOL... people here have good memories. Yep, I disappeared shortly before hurricane #3 hit Florida last year... I managed to get through without any damage to my house, but my life got insanely busy helping friends evacuate out of trailers, then a good frind of mine got 2 massive kidney infections, then she had a grand mal siezure (reason is still unknown) and I've been helping her and her hubby stay sane and able to take care of their five year old daughter... And I had a hard drive meltdown somewhere in there, too. It's been a busy year! Yirimyah Sat, 9th Jul '05, 9:38am Whoa. Arabwel Sat, 9th Jul '05, 12:40pm Seconded. *hugs Stefanina* Uytuun Sat, 9th Jul '05, 9:46pm Today was fun, but tonight sucked. When will guys understand that raving about how beautiful one friend is is not very nice for the other friend? When will friends learn to see things in proportion? Ofelix Sat, 9th Jul '05, 10:02pm Whoa! That's a big year already. Many people might gone mad with all this. Gnarfflinger Sat, 9th Jul '05, 11:36pm I cleaned out my wallet yesterday. It looks like before and after pictures in a Jenny Craig Commercial... BOC Sat, 9th Jul '05, 11:37pm Twisted Sister rule!!! Tonights concert has been one of the three best concerts I have ever watched. Enagonios Sun, 10th Jul '05, 4:29am First Saturday I've had in a while that I didn't have anything but a sip of beer. Wow. :spin: Dice Sun, 10th Jul '05, 4:54am You might want to attack your bedroom closet next Gnarffinger Stefanina Sun, 10th Jul '05, 6:41am So far, so good... it's actually a bit too quiet here, none of the usual animal noises. Spent most of the day taking mother shopping, and doing soem housecleaning. Felinoid Sun, 10th Jul '05, 7:07am Hope your luck holds. I have a friend who lives in Florida, too. :) Arabwel Sun, 10th Jul '05, 8:46am *Sends lots of good vibes* Shouldn't have strawberries for breakfast... Jaguar Sun, 10th Jul '05, 11:08am I have a feeling that I will learn to hate this time of year. Who knew people needed to ship so much fish? It kinda smells, especially when the wise-guys in the warehouse leave the cooler doors open. Arabwel Sun, 10th Jul '05, 12:25pm :bang: Sometimes I can't believe how stupid I am. Hugo Sun, 10th Jul '05, 12:35pm Whoop, Queen of the Damned soundtrack is still cool. Been playing The Sims 2, does anyone know if one can their own mp3s into the ingame radio thingey? that'd be kinda neat, and all. Hmm getting too long for rbp :borg: PS Hello again Stefanina! Good to see you back alive! Sarevok• Sun, 10th Jul '05, 12:39pm Someone bump the guitar licks thread in the sens, and I will put some more stuff on there. Barmy Army Sun, 10th Jul '05, 1:12pm You can reply to your own posts now I think, Sarevok. Laiwethel Sun, 10th Jul '05, 2:44pm Life is driving me nuts right now, and I will never be able to figure out guys. In other news, I'm in Greece for a little more than a week, then I'm heading back home to wonderful Canada. I can't wait to get back to my own computer and bed. Arabwel Sun, 10th Jul '05, 2:48pm *huigs Lai* I am sure evryone is gonna be sooo jealous of your tan :D Gro'Mul Sun, 10th Jul '05, 3:06pm I never thought I'd say this, but: No more parties next week! Yay! (after a month of an average of 4 parties a week, very expensive I must say) Taluntain Sun, 10th Jul '05, 4:12pm Sarevok•, you can reply to your last reply after 24 hours pass, now. Check SS for more info on this recent board modification. Enagonios Sun, 10th Jul '05, 4:59pm man, Neil Gaiman has more fans here than I thought. Philippines has, so far, the largest turn-out for his 2-day signing. It's been 3000+ people and counting. and those are just the fans that decided to actually go and wait  Arabwel Sun, 10th Jul '05, 6:03pm *giggle* I refuse to admit to fangirling Gaiman :p reepnorp Sun, 10th Jul '05, 6:08pm I saw Fantastic Four with some friends last night, it was pretty good. Not enough fighting, though. Enagonios Sun, 10th Jul '05, 6:21pm @Ara why not? I'm a gaiman fanboy :p My mom was able to get me a pass to a writers' forum he's throwing tomorrow, woohoo! Definitely worth cutting class for :p @reep just saw it myself. A lot of my friends were of the same opinion as you. But I thought it was okay as it was. I found all the stuff showing how they adapted to the changes pretty entertaining. Arabwel Sun, 10th Jul '05, 6:33pm You lucky..... *censored* Then again, i am pretty sure what I'd do if I got my grubby little hands on him for an hour or two would be QUITE different from, what you'd do :p *innocent* Enagonios Sun, 10th Jul '05, 6:45pm err if what you would do is NOT ask for a picture with him and his signature on Neverwhere, Coraline, American Gods and Stardust and then leave (after listening to all the cool stuff he's going to say about little things in his novels and an excerpt from his new one) then it would definitely be QUITE different indeed :p ;) seriously though, I don't know if I'll be able to get the pic or the autographs :( a buddy of mine was in the official booksigning line yesterday. He said that he got to the place at 3pm and at 1130pm he still didn't have his stuff signed  He eventually got them signed this morning but only because he recieved some kind of paper that said that he had waited a hell of a long time already yesterday :o SleepleSS Sun, 10th Jul '05, 8:02pm Life is like a dance :)My throath hurts but yesterday was fun, a lot of people I care about where there :D on the other hand I can't remember how thge evening did end... strange Arabwel Sun, 10th Jul '05, 8:14pm 'cough* Lets just say that after I got the pictures and the autographs, there would be severe lack of clothes and possibly whipped cream involved :D  Felinoid Sun, 10th Jul '05, 8:42pm TMI. (or NEI, depending on your mood  ) Ofelix Sun, 10th Jul '05, 11:52pm Yeah I've set up my Hydra IRC thingy... Now I can use FAI more... er... more with Hydra. Tonight I'm going to see some movie with my friend.. gotta be cool Gnarfflinger Mon, 11th Jul '05, 3:38am Actually next project for me is my computer desk  Arabwel Mon, 11th Jul '05, 3:47am A corollary to Murphy's law - the e-mail ALWAYS arrives within an hour of one leaving the computer for an extended period of time. Am not going anywhere... :coffee: Kitrax Mon, 11th Jul '05, 5:57am Once again, work sucks. I'm still stuck in Inernational Shipping...and it's Sooooo Booooring! I want my old job back in the *hush* *hush* area. I can't say that my old job was "fun" but it kept me on my toes, and I always had something to do. Now, it's not uncommon to run out of things to do at around 2am...so my "boss" tells us to avoid the security cameras until 5am, so the real bosses thing we are actually working. :bang: :rolling: Jaguar Mon, 11th Jul '05, 7:50am Bring in a good book. That's what I do. Enagonios Mon, 11th Jul '05, 10:43am just got out from the Gaiman forum. It was loads of fun, definitely worth a cut from class. Unfortunately those damn security people didn't let me have a picture with him  Arabwel Mon, 11th Jul '05, 1:20pm Lqack of pictures sucks :( And damn, looks like I stayed up for nothing.... and no e-mail even after sleep. Which sucks. Oh well, at least my foot is hurting a lot less now. Enagonios Mon, 11th Jul '05, 2:20pm I had some pics OF him, but none WITH him :/ There's a chance that my battered yeeears-old copy of Neverwhere will be signed though! :) Hope he signs it, I picked it up back when it was new in the U.S, more than 5 years ago and way before American Gods turned him into a celebrity over here :/ Colthrun Mon, 11th Jul '05, 5:29pm *cough* *cough* I hate hay fever /me tries no to rub his eyes Felinoid Mon, 11th Jul '05, 6:49pm Just spun off a new thread into the D&D forum. It belongs there, but at the moment it looks more like something from CS. I hope it doesn't get moved. :( Jaguar Mon, 11th Jul '05, 7:20pm Don't be sad. Get Prozac. :D Felinoid Mon, 11th Jul '05, 7:41pm Ummm....Uhhhh....I already did. :o  Ofelix Mon, 11th Jul '05, 9:09pm It's been three whole week that I haven't drank any form of alchool. I feel weird. I got random dizzyness, headache, and my shoulder hurt. What's happening to me? Jaguar Mon, 11th Jul '05, 9:17pm Your just going through withdraw. Take some Prozac. :D Felinoid Mon, 11th Jul '05, 9:21pm Geez, Jaguar, do you work for them or what? Ofelix Mon, 11th Jul '05, 9:43pm Prozac? Nay I don't think so... thanks anyway   Arabwel Mon, 11th Jul '05, 10:20pm This stir fry has ninja mushrooms. Taza Mon, 11th Jul '05, 11:22pm Ofelix: Have you had enough caffeine? On a random note, NWN haks are annoying. :borg: Kitrax Tue, 12th Jul '05, 2:32am One of these nights, I'm going to see if I can bring my laptop and hook it up to one of the hundreds of projectors they have. The four other guys I work with are total Redneck hicks, so I'd probably never hear the end of it. People that would rather pour concrete or help clear out a feild than relax in front of a computer make me sick. :rolling: Ofelix Tue, 12th Jul '05, 4:06am @ Taza No I decided to drink considerable less alchool and caffeine for the months being... I ain't feelin' well at all Arabwel Tue, 12th Jul '05, 4:45am You are having caffeine withdrawal, Flix - my sympathies. Charlie Tue, 12th Jul '05, 4:53am The last two days were rough. I only got two hours sleep to prepare for a presentation.Thank God for :coffee: . Everything turned out well and I've had eight hours of sleep. I'm back to normal. Gnarfflinger Tue, 12th Jul '05, 5:48am Why is it that when Haying season comes, you get days with nothing, then you get a couple really long days in a row? Harbourboy Tue, 12th Jul '05, 6:04am Not sure what you are talking about, Gnarfflinger? Stefanina Tue, 12th Jul '05, 6:43am Well, There was lots of rain, but I escaped the hurricane. Pensacola got whapped again, however. A lot of those people still hadn't been able to finish rebuilding from last year's hurricanes. Only four and a half more months to go... On the bright side, my plants are getting well watered, and some friends and I just started a new P&P game. I should not try to type in the dark... Jaguar Tue, 12th Jul '05, 7:36am Yet you still type better then Ara. Good on ya. @HB You know, you use that line way too much. Try www.answers.com. (http://www.answers.com.) :D Aikanaro Tue, 12th Jul '05, 11:12am Marc Remillard is the Best Character EVAR! That is all. Arabwel Tue, 12th Jul '05, 3:47pm Am muchly annoyed at Foot., It should NOT get infectd this close to the damned con. Enagonios Tue, 12th Jul '05, 4:06pm @aik character from where? what a good news-bad news day. good news is i'm going to get back my copy of Neverwhere signed by Neil Gaiman. Bad news is I probably failed my macroeconomics midterm earlier today. arg. kuemper Tue, 12th Jul '05, 5:44pm I just cut my lip open on a foil gum wrapper! WTF? This is as bad as the time I sliced a toe open with a cardboard macaroni and cheese box. :o Jaguar Tue, 12th Jul '05, 9:35pm Maybe you should stay away from all things paper, just to be safe. :D Hugo Tue, 12th Jul '05, 9:54pm Yarrr... Vacations are starting to bore me. Go me :??: And, Disciples II is a good game, but the Dwarven campaign is plustough... It smacks you with units way above what you can achieve. In the second mission, for example, UnitLvlCap is at 3 - but I'm duking it out against armies that have Lvl5s... ARGH! Oh well. Keep the faith, game on, etc.! :borg: Harbourboy Tue, 12th Jul '05, 11:34pm Am muchly annoyed at Foot., It should NOT get infectd this close to the damned con. I'm really trying hard to work out what this means. Arabwel's foot is too close to a convict who might catch an infection? Ofelix Tue, 12th Jul '05, 11:54pm Arrr... I might not go to that 5 day long medieaval thingy with lotsa fighting and beer. Ugh, stupid friend Felinoid Wed, 13th Jul '05, 12:14am @Harbourboy: I think it means that if her foot infection doesn't go away, she might not be able to attend a convention. WiZinc Wed, 13th Jul '05, 12:24am What to do when bored and not having any hope to get sleep? Something you can't do without blowing it. :p Jaguar Wed, 13th Jul '05, 3:00am Have you ever had one of those days where you just can't type? I had to edit this four times so that nobody thinks Ara hijacked my account. Ofelix Wed, 13th Jul '05, 3:53am jaguar-- Yeah I know what you mean. I've just read the SP age thingy. I didn't know I was in a minority so far! Seem everybody is 18+ or almost. Gee I feel pretty young. Jaguar Wed, 13th Jul '05, 4:08am You are. :D But how did you finish high school so quick? Or did you mean just for the year? Charlie Wed, 13th Jul '05, 4:32am Maybe we have a genius in our midst. :D Ofelix Wed, 13th Jul '05, 4:39am Jaguar... Well I'm borderline for school registration. You had to be age six before september first. I am born 8/8/88. I am (and always will) one year younger than most of my class. So no, I actually finish High school. Yeah! and I was accepted to college to boot. Yirimyah Wed, 13th Jul '05, 4:40am Harbourboy: Apparently she stepped on a claw-hammer. Gnarfflinger Wed, 13th Jul '05, 5:23am Harbourboy, I was referring to the harvest of the hay crop. You get a few days off, but then all the work comes in a couple days all at once... Fortunately, I had this afternoon off because the one field was not yet cut... Dice Wed, 13th Jul '05, 5:48am Wow, it is late evening here and the sun is going down in about 1/2 hour. The sky is a surreal shade of yellow because of the rainstorm and there is a spectacular rainbow outside the bathroom window. Enagonios Wed, 13th Jul '05, 5:51am i love wednesdays. class from 230-330 then home  Dice Wed, 13th Jul '05, 6:00am That's weird...I thought it was tuesday today... Harbourboy Wed, 13th Jul '05, 6:32am It's almost Thursday now. How time flies. Dice Wed, 13th Jul '05, 7:06am O.K...I admit it. It is less then an hour to wednesday where I am right now. Kitrax Wed, 13th Jul '05, 8:25am That's not a very big admitance... Now, if you said, "Ok, I admit it, I shot JFK!" That would be different... :hahaerr: <_< >_> What? :rolling: Arabwel Wed, 13th Jul '05, 9:20am Hmm, fotfeels slightly better... but only slightly. This is muchly sucklicious since in little over a week I will be walking a LOT... *twiddles thumbs a little* Aikanaro Wed, 13th Jul '05, 11:05am @Enagonius - He's a character from The Galactic Milieu Trilogy and The Saga of the Exiles Colthrun Wed, 13th Jul '05, 2:21pm /me casts protection vs boredom at work *spell fizzles* Wordplay Wed, 13th Jul '05, 4:35pm Man I'm BORED. It's one of those slooow summer days when you don't have anything of interest to do. Go to beach? Can't be arsed. Find a hobby? It's almost 6pm and past office hours, so no calling to people. Play games? I don't have any good ones to play. Besides, it's hot and I wanna be outside. Arg. >.< The highlight of this day was when I met two asian exchange students, asking for directions. Took a full minute to say "It's somewhere along this road." Ofelix Wed, 13th Jul '05, 5:06pm Maybe I'll finaly get a job, a friend of mine said the store he's working for is hiring new members! Yeah! It's a hardware store much lire Home Depot, but a local variant. chevalier Wed, 13th Jul '05, 5:41pm Back. Back. Back. Finally. It's been a week. The freaking condenser charged up too much thanks to the sucky contact in my room and the summer heat. Plus, the reset button and cord went freaky. SatansBedFellow Fri, 15th Jul '05, 1:42am This British heatwave's sending me crackers. Night-time's the worst. Since I live in London, I can't sleep with the window open in case someone crawls in and kills me with a bit of railing. So I lie sleepless, thrashing like a dying horse, tortured by the phonecall I received on Tuesday from university insisting I come in and speak to the head of department as I am “in trouble” neglecting to actually tell me what it is I am alleged to have done. Brilliant. In case I haven't all got enough to worry about what with bird flu, terrorism, global warming, food scares, neo-conservatives, corporate megalomania, MRSA, phone tumours, asteroids, nuclear stockpiles, crime, plane, train and car crashes, depression, madness, ageing, anguish, Aids and Crazy Frog's debut going straight to number one...my university considerately toss another chunk of doom on the pile. Of course, a lot depends on who you go with, and the bunch I went with were really good. No arguments, no pouting, no hesitation on helping out those who were short of Lira. And I managed to teach the Turkish guy who ran the bar at our apartment complex to say "cheerio" by the end of the holiday. A pity I didn't pick up more Turkish, but almost everyone has either English or German. I'd definitely give it a go, if you've the opportunity.
