If this stack of soda cans on my desk topples over I shall surely be crushed. Well, maybe not since they're so light. At the very least the racket will disturb my co-workers and upset my boss.
Mon, 23rd Apr '07, 10:44pm
Ouch, ouch. Ingrowing toenail is rapdily making it nigh-impossible to walk. A trip to the doctor is needed. Now if only the damn place had spare appointments.
Mon, 23rd Apr '07, 10:54pm
Go to A&E, Daie
A lovely way to pass 24 hours waiting
Is yours one of the doctors where you have to wait weeks for an appointment, only to find out they've cancelled it, or is it one where there's a mad dash at 8.15am to get the first appointments on that day?
Mon, 23rd Apr '07, 11:47pm
Oh, a pain in the toe is a pain in the proverbial.
That's not logical, but true.
Mon, 23rd Apr '07, 11:47pm
A&E for an in-growing toenail? That's what's pushing the waiting times up :p .
Book a visit with your local GP. It's neither an accident, nor an emergency!
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 12:08am
I feel completely wiped-out, and I haven't done much. Watching 'The Prisoner' cures all ills, though!
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 12:12am
I'm absolutely boshkad too mate. So tired it's not even funny. I won at pool tonight though, so it's all good :) .
I'm sat with this lass I like at work tomorrow all day, because she's teaching me something (work related...). I'm really cagey about her now, but I think about her a lot and I've no idea why. She's not even that good looking. I mean, she's 'OK' but I've had much better, and can get much better... I've just got this lass on the brain for some reason... feeling a bit anxious about tomorrow...
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 12:24am
Not going to A&E, it's nowhere near that bad. Giving my foot a salt bath, tkaing a few painkillers, and ringing the doctor tomorrow morning (Yes, SHell, the 8.15 rush) to get an appointment as soon as possible. I can kill two bird with one stone, since I need a booster shot too.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 1:39am
Kuemper going away?
I'll miss your opinions and views.
In other news, I have the day off tomorrow.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 2:25am
 Farewell Kuemper
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 2:26am
Deported? Why?
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 3:52am
No more Kuemper? Boo, hiss.
Can you pretend to be someone else at the public library?
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 4:13am
Start saving up for a new computer Kuemp, where there is a will there is a way.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 4:20am
Yeah, look for something used at an independent repair shop. Save your pennies and you'll be able to get something, I hope.
Dang, Kuemper, don't leave. I just got here and I'll miss you.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 5:41am
I got my dumb construction levels today. Blech, all day for 2 levels :nolike:
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 7:04am
thanks, shell.i understand now.i just hope they fix it quick.you just don't know how much this hurts
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 7:28am
Construction levels? Are you still playing RS Kuemper? Or are you refering to something else?
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 7:34am
Why is it the night I'm late starting online 5 or 6 people want to talk?
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 7:47am
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 11:23am
Physics exam wasn't that bad. Now to prepare for my next exam. It's ANZAC Day tommorow.
No uni! :D
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 12:29pm
My wife is vacuuming at 4:30am.
Oh well...I hate out neighbors anyway. I should turn my music up to help drown out the vacuum. :rolling:
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 12:38pm
Now, what is ANZAC day??
/me googles "ANZAC"
/me follows link to Wikipedia
Oh! RBP can be an education in itself. :)
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 12:41pm
It's ANZAC Day tommorow.
No uni! I'd find that great but Wednesday is my day off anyway :p
Found out today that one of my units is not meant for first year students. Its a core unit as well. The assessment for it is a killer as well. 6 part assignment on socio-technical systems. Its all VERY abstract.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 1:52pm
Farewell to thee Kuemper, may you find a computer!
And on a side note; Philosophy class today. After Descartes and Nietzsche now Freud. not bad but Freud is kinda...weird.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 1:57pm
I know the feeling. It's confusing.
I feel vindicated for purchasing a 2,40m x 2,20m summer blanket.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 2:09pm
I need to shave...but I don't want to...so I'm not going to! :D
Well...I might...just not today. :rolling:
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 2:11pm
I am on my last stick of gum.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 3:08pm
I have liquorice! And tea! All is well.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 3:13pm
I am supposed to be at a meeting out of town - but I am SOO sick. Babble, babble, back to bed.
And back to the doctor if this doesn't improve. I hate upper respiratory infections.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 3:21pm
Apparently people are buying and selling war medals for quite a lot. I personally don't aprove of that, but I guess some families may need the cash.
Hahaha sucked in! :p I get an extra free day~ ^^
If you're unit is not meant for first years, then how come you're still doing it? Che, I gotta go see the admin on Thursday and fix up my enrollment. They think I'm doing two full time courses at the same time.
Hope you're able to get access to the BoM somehow sometime..! T_T
Just had a big conversation with lots of uni friends on msn haha. Very challenging.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 4:56pm
One hour to go home!
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 5:27pm
It's a beautiful day. Not a cloud in the sky and temperatures in the mid 70's. Too bad I'm trapped inside at work.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 5:34pm
All work and no play makes Trell a dull boy.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 5:51pm
Yes he was...
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 7:07pm
Who did the what now?
In other news....I got a new pillow! It's all soft and fluffy like! No more stiff necks when I wake up! :rolling:
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 8:56pm
I just burnt the Chili I wanted to warm up. Really burnt it. I switched on the plate and simply forgot it. Now the kitchen stinks, and is full of smoke, the Chili looks like charcoal and my flatmate is pissed at me. Admittedly, rightly so. Worse, I'm still hungry, and I'm not in the mood for cooking anymore.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 9:12pm
My wife is vacuuming at 4:30am. Nesting (http://www.pregnancyweekly.com/pregnancy_information/nesting_instinct.htm) perhaps? ;)
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 11:51pm
When I was pregnant I never had much of a nesting instinct. I mean I kept the house clean, but not overboard. Sometimes I kinda wish that I was born with some kind of nesting instict - it would make house cleaning a whole lot more enjoyable.
Tue, 24th Apr '07, 11:57pm
I don't think that guy tailgating us tonight was expecting me to get out of the car and yell, too. :p
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 12:37am
I had trouble taking out my contacts today and now one of my eyes is all red. :(
But we kicked ass with the football team.
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 12:45am
Sorry to hear that. :( Hope nothing's wrong with your eye. Go to the doctor if it's still red when you wake up, please.
Congrats on the match, btw.
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 1:27am
If you're unit is not meant for first years, then how come you're still doing it? Because admin are a bunch of a$$holes.
As a side note: NEW GEM
I like this one more than the last.
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 1:39am
If I had anything interesting to say, I would have said it by now. >.<
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 2:34am
True, true. So stooopid. -_-
There's a public holiday in the Syndey Metropolitan area on Friday September 7 to coincide with the APEC Summit! I wonder what classes I'll have on Fridays next semester.. ^^
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 4:28am
Roasted potatoes and onions.
That is what.
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 4:29am
Who did the what now? What? where's Felinoid? ;)
ANZAC (Thats "Australia and New Zealend Army Core" for you Americans ;) ) day. A time to remember the soliders who fought and died in war.
Thanks lads. We won't forget you.
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 5:17am
I failed a certification test today. Not a good day for me.
I have another certification test tomorrow. Me, worried? Heck yeah.
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 6:22am
My wife is vacuuming at 4:30am.
Nesting perhaps? Nope. She had to work in the morning, and I had school...and after we were both back home, we knew our friends would be coming over earlier than when they said they would. So she decided to vacuum when she had time, which was at 4:30 in the morning. It's fine with me. I hate our upstairs neighbors.
And Shell...my wife is not pregnant, nor will she become pregnant anytime soon... Got to get the European trips out of the way first, *before* we ruin our lives with children. :p :rolling:

Half the group failed the big four-hour exam... haven't yet got the grades, but I have a strange feeling I'm part of this half... :mommy: :mommy: :mommy: :mommy:
Meh. I'll just retake it. Simple as that.
I had trouble taking out my contacts today and now one of my eyes is all red. Sucks. I'm too familiar with that, being a longtime contacts wearer - artificial tears do wonder against that. Disposable contacts are much more comfortable too, though I have a feeling I'm preaching to the choir...
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 7:22am
I'm just jazzed because I actually got off the farm today and had some free time in the city. Got to do some shopping...
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 10:50am
Kitrax - Aww, I was looking forward to a new SP baby :(
I'm having onion rings for breakfast :yum:
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 11:06am
Today is one of those days...
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 11:24am
I'll take your word for it.
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 12:19pm
Kitrax - Aww, I was looking forward to a new SP baby There's a remedy for that. Does Jack have to be a single child?
I'm having onion rings for breakfast Or am I late in asking that question? ;)
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 2:10pm
There's a magpie in the balcony.
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 2:11pm
Going to visit Montréal's Museum of contemporary art today! Weeee  Ok it's for a class, but it'll be still fun.
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 2:13pm
Hehehe made my friend watch Fahrenheit mvs with me. He agrees that Calvin is 'unattractive'. Hahaha.
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 3:16pm
Just got my hand on Vivaldi's Four Season. Simply marvelous, it's such a passionate music.
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 3:21pm
Finished making my lunch for tommorow. It's a sandwich. ^^
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 4:20pm
I'm gonna try some boneless teriyaki wings tomorrow. :yum:
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 4:27pm
I need to find a new job.
Going to a Dodger game tonight. It should be fun. Can't wait to eat some Dodger dogs. :yum:

Health - better.
Weather - sunny, very warm, windy.
Content - babble.
@Montresor - in the immortal words of my 2-year-old niece, uttered at a family dinner after the third or fourth adult had left the table to dab at clothing, "Why don't we just keep the stain stick on the table, Mommy?"

Life's life, that's all I've got t'say.
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 11:03pm
Meh, who can I brib to wash my dirty dishes clean for me? :skeptic: :D
Wed, 25th Apr '07, 11:19pm
Good morning peeps! Looks like not much happened while I was asleep.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 12:19am
Morning all. Posting here wakes me up better then coffee ever could.
...You were expecting a coffee smilie after that last sentence weren't you? Admit it. ;)
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 2:02am
Actually, no I wasn't expecting anything.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 5:56am
At least I passed today's test. I still have to take the second part, but that's not 'til summer semester.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 6:15am
Oh yeah, I have to do Laundry soon...
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 7:26am
Laundry Schmaundry - just let it pile up until it becomes a whole new creature.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 7:37am
Wow, 6 am doesn't seem any better than it ever does. :coffee: Whose stupid idea was if to get a new job!?!
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 7:51am
Why do I join these stupid tourneys? I never get passed the first round unless it's a bye. :grr:

Thu, 26th Apr '07, 8:06am
So far so good, got one exam result and I passed it - with a grade that surprised me.
Still haven't got the result of the other two big exams, though...
Oh well. At least things are slowing down... maybe I'll have the time to chill out a bit.
What pisses me off is that I failed two exams, and I'll have to retake the damn classes, but wait, here's the catch, there is NO group in second year, so I will have to wait a FULL YEAR to retake those @+!#)($& classes.
This Disciple is NOT a happy camper.
Bah.
Think I'll go watch Lockdown and get my daily dose of violence to chill out a bit.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 8:52am
Head colds really suck! I am sick of being sick!
In other news the warm weather has finally hit here in the arctic north, and the grass is even beginning to grow. Did I ever mention how much I hate mowing the lawn?
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 9:44am
My sister little rat of a dog just woke me up after a nice arvo sleep.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 10:21am
There's a remedy for that. Does Jack have to be a single child? [tmi] We're working on that one.
Brallrock, perhaps mowing the lawn is not a good idea when you have a cold. In fact, maybe it's not a cold at all and it's hayfever caused by mowing the lawn! If you know it isn't, you could let on it is to get out of mowing the lawn ;)
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 11:30am
Time is ticking away... slowly...away...
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 2:13pm
Didn't go to the museum didn't felt too well last night, I felt like I could passover, meh will go saturday.
I'm out of fire, my Zippo is out of gas, no more matches, even my little cheap butane Bic lighter doesn't work anymore. Gaaahh!
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 2:23pm
Heh, thanks for the advice, guys. ;) I already have the one-month ones, DotW, and the product too...I was just tired and clumsy and I thought I felt my contact, but it turned out to be a fleshy eye part. They don't like to be pulled. :shake: All is well now...eyes are surprisingly flexible.

Slept through both seminar and lecture today.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 5:52pm
Just don't sleep through life Daie ;) .
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 6:25pm
Well, after seven straight days of work, I have a day off.
So why do I feel bored and lost for something to do?
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 6:39pm
Slept through both seminar and lecture today.:D
Now, that's something I didn't manage once. I don't know how people do that.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 6:55pm
I don;t sleep through life, DFly, just the day.
*sings* Oh the night is my world, city lights, painted girls...
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 7:46pm
OUCH! My mustache just got caught on the soda can pop top thingy!
Confusion reigns.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 7:46pm
I never feel bored - I wish I had time to be bored. Tired sometimes, never bored.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 8:11pm
I'm bored outta my mind. So little to do...
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 8:27pm
ALmost time for LARP! Whoo! I'm bouncing off the walls,it's been ages since I did it.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 8:43pm
LARPs always have a lowpoint, you forgot to bring your sword or something and get a crappy new one that bends and breaks after the first strike.
Or you're introduced to your king and you're eating a muffin (hey, you gotta eat). Trying to correct the situation you take out your sword, forgetting it's not the cool one that's waiting in the backseat of the bus you came in. The new sword flies from your hand when you draw it and dismembers your kings mage.
Guess who got killed after the first day by friendlies.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 8:48pm
Heh, nice one :p
I just got a funky new sword (my first!) and shield before the Easter break, so I can't wait to use them.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 9:10pm
Well, we had a Star Wars force ghost kind of thing for important characters. But I felt bad for my team, they didn't really have any other good swordsmen at the time, we solved most of our fights by overly dramatic speeches, or by kidnaping some of the other team's leaders :D .
In other news, I found 10 euros under my bed.
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 10:46pm
I wish I could find money underneath my bed.
LARPS are cool, I better enjoy diplomacy, drinking beer, duel, haggling (w or w/o ''virutal'' money i.e fictionnal gold piece), and especially smoking ''elven herbs'' (i.e :hippy: stuff) than large scall war. Since my armour is quite light and doesn't protect much except the torso and arms. It's nothing more a hard leather tabard with metal ''scale'' rivet-ed on it. The metal ''scale'' are about an inch from each other and cover the whole torso and my back. For my arms I used full metal bracers. I'm quite skilled with my halberd and my roman style short sword, a gladius if you prefer. I don't especially like a shield, it's cumbersome. When battle is inevitable I always carry my halberd, my gladius and a dagger.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 12:38am
I talked people into getting a sonic rodent device to make the critters go away. Cons: it won't go through walls. Pros: cool red light on the wall.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 1:04am
Yes, honeybunch? ;)
Thanks for finding that pizza/wing place - you're right, the honey BBQ is :flaming: but in a good way...
I miss Bon Scott.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 1:29am
I have a sword and shield, light armour, and clerical magic. I rock.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 3:57am
I play no magic LARPS. It's better that way, magic in LARPS ruin everything.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 6:22am
Still reading the magazines I got Tuesday...
Then there's 2 books...
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 8:38am
Tonight I'm going to "A night in Fantasia."
It's a preformance of various musics taken from computer games and Anime. Been waiting for this for 5 weeks! I collect that sort of music!
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 10:34am
Hooray! Money at last!
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 10:35am
My legs are sore from too much running. Friends kept trying to race me at uni yesterday. O.o So unfair, they had a huge head start. -_-
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 1:13pm
Mom's in the hospital again with low BP.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 1:49pm
But Flix, I get to be an awesome Cleric of Death!
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 1:54pm
I'm so sorry Kuemp, :(
@Daie: yeah but with a magicless LARPS merit is only based upon martial power. So if you're the best then you deserve to be the best. And there's no cheesy '' You can't it me 'cause I've X spell on me '' sooooo laaaaaammmme.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 2:23pm
Meh. I like my magic. And since I'm 3rd class cleric, my magic is pretty weak. But, being a cleric is cool, especially a cleric of death, cos it makes it very easy to intimidate other characters.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 2:59pm
Sorry to hear that, Kuemper. :( Best wishes to your mom and the rest of the family!
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 6:11pm
LARP magic normally causes problems, that's why we use tennis balls as magic missiles etc. IIRC protection spells were white clothing. You can imagine how noble it feels to be a mage and after a long stylish speech throw a tennis ball. :D
I'm dual-wielding a long curved sword and a bastard sword, leather 'armor' and a cloak, kind of a ranger character, but we use the terms scout or knight.
BTW, is this off-topic babbling?
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 6:49pm
I guess anything that makes sense is :yot: in the RBP thread.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 7:04pm
So you're saying the irrational is rational in there?
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 7:12pm
So you're saying the irrational is rational in there? Nes and yo.
I HAVE DSL NOW!!! That is all.
Oh, right. Not quite all. Please hold...
A Twain Observation
Good breeding consists of concealing how much we think of ourselves and how little we think of the other person. Now if only people practiced that in the Alleys... :p
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 7:22pm
We don't throw stuff in our system. You just shout the spell call, and point and shout who it's hitting. Not that much of a bother.
It's even more fun when you have a character liek me being hit by spells. I stole a hugely expensive ring that bounces magic from me, so whenever someone throws a massive spell at me then grins, it bounces back and fries them. Then I get to dance on their ashes. Fun. :p
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 7:51pm
You see Daie? That's exactly what I was talking about. Here's an exemple let's say your adversary is clearly better than you with weapons, then because of a (fictional) magical advantage (i.e a magic ring that gave you better resistance or HP or whatever) you win the fight despite his better martial might. Totaly unfair and ridiculous if you ask me.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 8:03pm
Speaking of LARPing, there are foam swords at Wal-mart.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 8:22pm
I prefer to make my own stuff, more engaging and personnal. Plus it's waaayyyyyy less espensive that way.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 8:33pm
Well, not really. Bearing in mind that I'm a new character, and most others are older. (I mean, we've come up against an Archmage before)
Plus, it's not exactly breaking the rules for me to have the item, since it was bloody hard for me to steal it. And if I get caught, I'll be executed.
Thirdly, I am a pretty good martial character. I won our tournament, so me with sword and shield is pretty awesome.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 8:54pm
Okay I see arguing is pointless, to each it's own and all that. You like magic in LARP I don't. End of discussion. So in a conclusion suitable to the RBP and it's none-sense I present you this (http://img117.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wtfbu7.png)
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 9:15pm
That's hilarious, Ofelix.
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 9:35pm
@Ofelix - Oolong! I remember him! Anyone else interested in what else Oolong has had on his head: Oolong's site (http://www.fsinet.or.jp/~sokaisha/rabbit/rabbit.htm) and be sure to read the Message for foreign visitors. Oolong's dead, but there's the next generation: Yuebing (http://www.h6.dion.ne.jp/~yuebing/).
I found the Reese's company finally made a peanut butter cup with actual peanut butter in it! :jawdrop:
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 9:44pm
Chili is for sissies, real mean eat horseradish.
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 1:27am
Yeah! Less than an hour before the little party at my friend's house! Weeee!
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 2:29am
Bad weather these past few days *sigh* Now I really have to stay at home and study.
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 3:51am
Reading the "discussion" between Daie and Ofelix, I just need to misquote George Carlin:

I do not recognise the quote, but I steal your cake anyway.
I have been on pirate pub-crawl, and have been made happy by kissies. Bwa!
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 6:20am
Whats a pirate pub crawl? Do you go and invade pubs on pirate ships?
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 6:42am
I'm going to hunt for music!
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 6:47am
Light day. May have another couple light days with teh weather being crumby...

DFly, a Pirate Pub Crawl is when a bunch of (Mainly) students dress up like pirates, and go on a pub crawl. I was Cap'n Daie for the night.
Twas fun, but now I feel a mite delicate.
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 2:58pm
I hope those Amazon purchases go through SP! ;)
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 3:01pm
but of course O excellent one :)
I need to type without the letter before B, it doesn't work no more on my kb. It is difficult
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 3:06pm
@Ragusa, you have obviously never had a taste of real chili. Come to our annual chili-cook-off and I guarantee that you will find that chili that will blow your brains out, curl your hair or straighten it if curly and do some other censored things. very
A good bowl of chili is hard to find.
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 3:29pm
my chili is renowned :) Friends of mine still mention with awe one I made on my birthday a decade ago. And as for the censored things, feel free to send me a PM :shake:
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 3:34pm
@Shell: So you can't say '' My beloved bride from Birmania just took a bubble bath '' ?
@Tal: Correct me if I'm wrong but, I thought SP received money from Amazon only when buying stuff through the games and books store?
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 3:38pm
 Ragusa, wish I could taste your chili. Care to share your recipe? Mayhap you have already posted it in the cooking thread?
Thinking about the cook-off got me to wondering why men make the best chili. By that I mean a good chili should explode.
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 3:43pm
Too much bludging when one should be studying is bad. ^^''
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 3:50pm
but I steal your cake anyway. How do you do that WITH NO HANDS?!?!?!
It was pretty late when I was posting, but no one's flamed me (yet), so it can't be that awful.
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 3:57pm
for my basic recipe check here (http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?/topic/22/958/16.html) .
Only modification is that then I left out the potatoes. I like to add them because they add substance. However, sometimes I leave them out when I want to focus on the chili alone. I always deviate from the recipe somewhat, after all I'm no slave ;)
The trick really is the spicing. I don't like one spice 'spiking out'. Every idiot can saturate a chili with peppers. Chili peppers aside, I strongly recommend tabasco sauce, cayenne pepper, black&white pepper, mexican chili powder and especially cumin for an adequately hot all-round spicyness.
PS: What makes horseradish so much meaner is that, when it's fresh and hot, it immediately stings in your nose, and, if it's really good, brings you to tears.

@Ragusa: So? My dad's curry will do that to you.
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 5:48pm
I take your word for it. I got to admit my unfamiliarity with Indian food, and curry I only use moderately ;)
A friend once tried Indian curry, hot, in Manchester, and reportedly it led her to the loot about 5 min after consumption. Never had such experiences myself, luckily I guess. And thinking about it, I'm uncertain wether it really was the curry or rather the English cookery
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 5:53pm
On the topic of hot food, did you know the little green pepper's in Tie food are for decoreation only? A friend ate one by accident, turned white as a sheet, started sweating, and hurred of to the barthroom.
Lesson lurned: Not sure there is one. Funny though. :)
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 5:59pm
Personally I've never seen the point in this 'macho strong' spicy food competition; I've enjoyed hot foods - curries, chilies, etc. but I think it was the whole flavour of the dish in general rather than just the acidity...
Mind you, I come from a culture that looks upon salt as a spice!
Anyways, I have dusty, dim memories of some at least rough guideline that conversations in RBP's weren't supposed to happen, so back to randomness:
"In The Future, There Will Be Robots"

Kuemper, late, but hope your mom's better.
More rain, cool temps, but - yesterday I saw TEN - count 'em, ten - male rose-breasted grosbeaks all at once! They migrate through at this time of year and are gorgeous birds.
Working, back to it.
Sat, 28th Apr '07, 6:19pm
Ofelix, not at all... SP just gets a slightly higher percentage there. Anything that anyone buys at Amazon via a link from SP will bring SP a commission. It's as easy as clicking the appropriate Amazon link on top the boards here and going shopping. That way you get to support SP at no cost to yourself whatsoever.
To emphasize further, *anything* whatsoever that Amazon sells can bring SP a commission. All that it takes if the item you want is not listed on SP is that you enter Amazon via a link on SP and then add it to your cart. This page has more information on that: http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?/topic/18/666.html

indeed, I strive to be a 'good cook' rather than a reckless one.
So, while my chili is hot, as chilis are supposed to be, and while my horseraddish sauce is hot, as horseraddish (or mustard) is supposed to be - I aim in making them edible. There is no point in cooking food that 75% of the targeted, err, eaters will refuse as.... corrosive, toxic waste? That said, my über-chili was an accident. Really. Still, the bad rep sticks, and seemingly makes for a great conversation item :shake:

I've got two weeks of Random Babbling to be read to catch up. Not to mention about all that's been going on in elsewhere in BoM.
So I'll know what I'll spend my time on for the most of the next week. Silly me. :shake:

Five hours forty five minutes till mass starts. Then a trip to dad's followed by an outing with friends. Yuppee. I'm going to have little blood in my caffeine system tomorrow, it seems. On the other hand, it looks like I did manage to do 6 KB of text for my thesis today.

Sun, 29th Apr '07, 6:32pm
Work has actually been fairly active today. Seems there's a rash of tests for the senior class on Monday, so they're all in here printing out and reviewing notes.
This places goes through paper at a rather fast clip, considering there's only 400 students in the entire school with permission to print here...
Sun, 29th Apr '07, 6:58pm
Mmmm... caffeine addiction. Should I make a thread about coffee mugs? I have a big Darth Vader one. Yesterday, I bought these coffee candies. They taste like coffee filled with coffee. I go make some more coffee. Maybe I need more caffeine tablets, so I don't need to sleep and I can drink more coffee. :coffee:
Sun, 29th Apr '07, 9:42pm
I prefer my coffee from my java mug. And usually I'm the only one around who gets that little joke *snicker*

I've just come off a 26 hour weekend at work. About four hours on friday, and the rest yesterday and today. Cleaning carpets for that long it exhausting...
Mon, 30th Apr '07, 12:13am
I drink my coffee from an ordinary cup, nothing fancy.
Mon, 30th Apr '07, 12:27am
I don't drink coffee.
I spent the whole of yesterday plaing "Undead Assult" on Warcraft III. All the sounds were taken from HL2. :)
Mon, 30th Apr '07, 2:08am
I got Mom a great Mom's Day card. It may be her last since she might die laughing:
Good moms let you lick the beaters.
Great moms turn off the mixer first.
Mon, 30th Apr '07, 2:31am
@Kuemper: great card!
Re coffee, don't like it, don't drink it.
Re weather, warm and sunny after a rather cool start.
Still seeing the rose breasted grosbeaks, just not in the huge numbers. They'll be here another week or two, then gone until they head back through in the fall.
Mon, 30th Apr '07, 6:07am
Oh crap. I have laundry in the washer and another load to wash...

After years of waiting, I finally got WoW!
I'll be playing for the next few days, you probably won't see much of me. ;)
Mon, 30th Apr '07, 10:10am
I am pissed. I just went to the train station, paid for a ticket into uni which was $4 and was then told that we do not have a lecture tonight. So I just spent $4 + fuel and about an hour waiting/driving time for squat. It could have been worse had I actually boarded the train and headed in there only to find out that we didnt have to go.
Mon, 30th Apr '07, 10:58am

Mon, 30th Apr '07, 12:01pm
Re coffee I drink it by the pint, my mug is pint-sized
Meanwhile somewhere, whales are singing
Mon, 30th Apr '07, 2:11pm
Oh crap. I have laundry in the washer and another load to wash... Hmm...that reminds me, I've got a load in the dryer, a load in the washer, and 2 more loads to do after that. Fantastic. :bang:
I wish we could afford the front load washers...that would cut my loads in half. :D :rolling:
Mon, 30th Apr '07, 2:23pm
Oh crap. I have laundry in the washer and another load to wash...At least you don't have to find other people's laundry in the washer and dryer when you need to wash clothes.

What a s***** weekend. I would rather had classes than time off this weekend.
*shrugs* At least I have stashed a lot of caffeine, so it's more bearable, but still.
I'm currently feeling like smoking a gigantic bowl of Moojah-Loojah (as Harbs would call it), but I don't have any, and I'm not falling back into my old habits... metal shop, here I come with my trusty hammer and sledgehammer!
Mon, 30th Apr '07, 8:34pm
Just went to a drive-thru Happy Wok that I've ordered chicken fried rice from dozens of times without incident. Today I decided to change it up a little and go with the pork. So I order, and she comes back with "Did you say chicken or shrimp?" :skeptic: Not only does pork sound nothing like chicken or shrimp, chicken and shrimp don't even sound alike! How can they be options at the same time?
After correcting her, I eventually arrive at the window (behind two other cars), where most drive-thru places do that little "confirm the order" thing, to make sure you don't mix them up. And she asks if I ordered the BEEF fried rice! :shake: At least the guy in the kitchen got it right, and I ended up with pork. :yum:
Be kind to everyone you talk with. You never know who's going to be on the jury. I was kind to her. I only said, "No, pork." both times, rather than "Are you deaf as well as dumb?" :p
Mon, 30th Apr '07, 9:44pm
Need sleep of cafeine, whichever come first.
Mon, 30th Apr '07, 10:49pm
I dug around for a couple comics today: Karen the Marilith - all about the day of a marilith. It's hand drawn with pencil. And Vampirates - vampire pirates and Canadian healthcare! I'm still trying to figure out why the guys are more effeminate than the females. :xx: Stupid anime.
Mon, 30th Apr '07, 11:32pm
Karen the Marilith? Tres bizarre, as they say in Germany :p Don't you know what a Marilith's day is like anyway, Kuemp?
Tue, 1st May '07, 1:52am

Tue, 1st May '07, 3:04pm
@Shadow; it's a matter of taste, but no one can make me think otherwise, pirates are cooler :p .
Pirates can woo lasses, drink beer, swordfight other pirates, bury treasure, say ''arrrr'', have a parot, have huge beard. Ninjas? Stay in the shadow and not saying a word...weeee *fun*. Even Samurai are cooler, since they can like... talk and are required by their warrior code to write poetry before a ceremonial suicide :p , the seppuku if you preffer.
Hey Nice avatar Montrsesor!
Tue, 1st May '07, 4:27pm
I've rediscovered my old Dungeon Keeper II game. Nothing beats smoking imps.
Had back pain like nothing else last night/this morning. It felt like 2 charlie horses along my spine: 1 at the neck and 1 at the shoulder blades. Finally got to sleep around 2a. All I can do this morning is stretch, which about kills me.

Thats pretty funny - I think I'll make one of those.
Tue, 1st May '07, 5:14pm
Well, on the pirate vs. ninja debate:
I always prefered pirates, at least they possess some clothing style.:jawdrop:
Um....you call that 'wear whatever we plunder, even if it doesn't fit/is meant for the opposite gender' habit a clothing style?!? Pirates are gaudy magpies that do not have any sense of aesthetics or good taste. ;)
Ninjas? C'mon, you can't beat Basic Black. :p

Tue, 1st May '07, 11:38pm

If it was a hairless guinea pig it wouldn't be out in the sun, since they burn really easily. As it is, I have to cover him in sunscreen and keep him in the shade. I feel so silly putting sunscreen on a guinea pig

Weather: clear, hot
Self: muzzy headed after little sleep - me and Ofelix, huh?
Content: only a comment that I got stuck in an hour and a half backup on one of our rural roads yesterday afternoon - an accident, mostly cleared once I crept past, except for a tractor trailer down a steep part of the mountain being laboriously offloaded by one of those big claw machines - there had to be other cars involved but they were gone by the time I got there.
Moral of the story: go to the bathroom before you leave the out of town meeting.

Phenom also is the ring name of the Undertaker, one of the greatest wrestlers in the history of the WWE, so the word Phenom is sacred.
