If this stack of soda cans on my desk topples over I shall surely be crushed. Well, maybe not since they're so light. At the very least the racket will disturb my co-workers and upset my boss.

Ouch, ouch. Ingrowing toenail is rapdily making it nigh-impossible to walk. A trip to the doctor is needed. Now if only the damn place had spare appointments.

Go to A&E, Daie

A lovely way to pass 24 hours waiting

Is yours one of the doctors where you have to wait weeks for an appointment, only to find out they've cancelled it, or is it one where there's a mad dash at 8.15am to get the first appointments on that day?

A&E for an in-growing toenail? That's what's pushing the waiting times up :p .

Book a visit with your local GP. It's neither an accident, nor an emergency!

I'm absolutely boshkad too mate. So tired it's not even funny. I won at pool tonight though, so it's all good :) .

I'm sat with this lass I like at work tomorrow all day, because she's teaching me something (work related...). I'm really cagey about her now, but I think about her a lot and I've no idea why. She's not even that good looking. I mean, she's 'OK' but I've had much better, and can get much better... I've just got this lass on the brain for some reason... feeling a bit anxious about tomorrow...

Not going to A&E, it's nowhere near that bad. Giving my foot a salt bath, tkaing a few painkillers, and ringing the doctor tomorrow morning (Yes, SHell, the 8.15 rush) to get an appointment as soon as possible. I can kill two bird with one stone, since I need a booster shot too.

ALmost time for LARP! Whoo! I'm bouncing off the walls,it's been ages since I did it.

Trellheim
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 8:43pm
LARPs always have a lowpoint, you forgot to bring your sword or something and get a crappy new one that bends and breaks after the first strike.
Or you're introduced to your king and you're eating a muffin (hey, you gotta eat). Trying to correct the situation you take out your sword, forgetting it's not the cool one that's waiting in the backseat of the bus you came in. The new sword flies from your hand when you draw it and dismembers your kings mage.

Guess who got killed after the first day by friendlies.

Daie d'Malkin

Trellheim
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 9:10pm
Well, we had a Star Wars force ghost kind of thing for important characters. But I felt bad for my team, they didn't really have any other good swordsmen at the time, we solved most of our fights by overly dramatic speeches, or by kidnaping some of the other team's leaders :D .

In other news, I found 10 euros under my bed.

Ofelix
Thu, 26th Apr '07, 10:46pm
I wish I could find money underneath my bed.

LARPS are cool, I better enjoy diplomacy, drinking beer, duel, haggling (w or w/o ''virutal'' money i.e fictionnal gold piece), and especially smoking ''elven herbs'' (i.e :hippy: stuff) than large scall war. Since my armour is quite light and doesn't protect much except the torso and arms. It's nothing more a hard leather tabard with metal ''scale'' rivet-ed on it. The metal ''scale'' are about an inch from each other and cover the whole torso and my back. For my arms I used full metal bracers. I'm quite skilled with my halberd and my roman style short sword, a gladius if you prefer. I don't especially like a shield, it's cumbersome. When battle is inevitable I always carry my halberd, my gladius and a dagger.

LARP magic normally causes problems, that's why we use tennis balls as magic missiles etc. IIRC protection spells were white clothing. You can imagine how noble it feels to be a mage and after a long stylish speech throw a tennis ball. :D

I'm dual-wielding a long curved sword and a bastard sword, leather 'armor' and a cloak, kind of a ranger character, but we use the terms scout or knight.

Daie d'Malkin
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 7:22pm
We don't throw stuff in our system. You just shout the spell call, and point and shout who it's hitting. Not that much of a bother.

It's even more fun when you have a character liek me being hit by spells. I stole a hugely expensive ring that bounces magic from me, so whenever someone throws a massive spell at me then grins, it bounces back and fries them. Then I get to dance on their ashes. Fun. :p

Ofelix
Fri, 27th Apr '07, 7:51pm
You see Daie? That's exactly what I was talking about. Here's an exemple let's say your adversary is clearly better than you with weapons, then because of a (fictional) magical advantage (i.e a magic ring that gave you better resistance or HP or whatever) you win the fight despite his better martial might. Totaly unfair and ridiculous if you ask me.

Well, not really. Bearing in mind that I'm a new character, and most others are older. (I mean, we've come up against an Archmage before)

Plus, it's not exactly breaking the rules for me to have the item, since it was bloody hard for me to steal it. And if I get caught, I'll be executed.

Thirdly, I am a pretty good martial character. I won our tournament, so me with sword and shield is pretty awesome.

Nakia,
for my basic recipe check here (http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?/topic/22/958/16.html) .

Only modification is that then I left out the potatoes. I like to add them because they add substance. However, sometimes I leave them out when I want to focus on the chili alone. I always deviate from the recipe somewhat, after all I'm no slave ;)

The trick really is the spicing. I don't like one spice 'spiking out'. Every idiot can saturate a chili with peppers. Chili peppers aside, I strongly recommend tabasco sauce, cayenne pepper, black&white pepper, mexican chili powder and especially cumin for an adequately hot all-round spicyness.

PS: What makes horseradish so much meaner is that, when it's fresh and hot, it immediately stings in your nose, and, if it's really good, brings you to tears.

Magister,
I take your word for it. I got to admit my unfamiliarity with Indian food, and curry I only use moderately ;)

A friend once tried Indian curry, hot, in Manchester, and reportedly it led her to the loot about 5 min after consumption. Never had such experiences myself, luckily I guess. And thinking about it, I'm uncertain wether it really was the curry or rather the English cookery

The Magister

On the topic of hot food, did you know the little green pepper's in Tie food are for decoreation only? A friend ate one by accident, turned white as a sheet, started sweating, and hurred of to the barthroom.

Lesson lurned: Not sure there is one. Funny though. :)

Personally I've never seen the point in this 'macho strong' spicy food competition; I've enjoyed hot foods - curries, chilies, etc. but I think it was the whole flavour of the dish in general rather than just the acidity...

Mind you, I come from a culture that looks upon salt as a spice!

Anyways, I have dusty, dim memories of some at least rough guideline that conversations in RBP's weren't supposed to happen, so back to randomness:

Ofelix, not at all... SP just gets a slightly higher percentage there. Anything that anyone buys at Amazon via a link from SP will bring SP a commission. It's as easy as clicking the appropriate Amazon link on top the boards here and going shopping. That way you get to support SP at no cost to yourself whatsoever.

To emphasize further, *anything* whatsoever that Amazon sells can bring SP a commission. All that it takes if the item you want is not listed on SP is that you enter Amazon via a link on SP and then add it to your cart. This page has more information on that: http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?/topic/18/666.html

jaded,
indeed, I strive to be a 'good cook' rather than a reckless one.

So, while my chili is hot, as chilis are supposed to be, and while my horseraddish sauce is hot, as horseraddish (or mustard) is supposed to be - I aim in making them edible. There is no point in cooking food that 75% of the targeted, err, eaters will refuse as.... corrosive, toxic waste? That said, my über-chili was an accident. Really. Still, the bad rep sticks, and seemingly makes for a great conversation item :shake:

How can they be options at the same time?

After correcting her, I eventually arrive at the window (behind two other cars), where most drive-thru places do that little "confirm the order" thing, to make sure you don't mix them up. I'm assuming this isn't a hairless guinea pig. Those guys are so cute! Marc (http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/sheepyshell/Marc.jpg)

If it was a hairless guinea pig it wouldn't be out in the sun, since they burn really easily. As it is, I have to cover him in sunscreen and keep him in the shade. I feel so silly putting sunscreen on a guinea pig

Weather: clear, hot
Self: muzzy headed after little sleep - me and Ofelix, huh?
Content: only a comment that I got stuck in an hour and a half backup on one of our rural roads yesterday afternoon - an accident, mostly cleared once I crept past, except for a tractor trailer down a steep part of the mountain being laboriously offloaded by one of those big claw machines - there had to be other cars involved but they were gone by the time I got there.

Moral of the story: go to the bathroom before you leave the out of town meeting.

So what has AMD come up with as a name to succeed the Athlon brand? Phenom! That's as cheesy as Intel's "Core" is boring!

So what has AMD come up with as a name to succeed the Athlon brand? Phenom! [Roll Eyes] That's as cheesy as Intel's "Core" is boring! [laughing out loud] I'd still get a Phenom rather than a Core.

Phenom also is the ring name of the Undertaker, one of the greatest wrestlers in the history of the WWE, so the word Phenom is sacred.

I'm completely out of it today. I've got a cold and only slept 2 hours last night. I'm trying to skate through the day with the minimum amount of thinking. I hope nobody asks me any hard questions.

@Ragusa: Don't forget deer keds and the swarms of black flies. Welcome to be bitten by them in our swamps and forests at any time during the summer season! :D

Got work tonight, but we ended up waking up at 9am instead of 5pm. I'm going to need a lot of caffine to stay awake. :coffee: :rolling:

Anything before 7AM is the devil's hour, to wake up that is. Staying awake all night long is okay, the devil don't bother you.
