View Full Version : What's better, Shadow Thieves or Bodhi's guild?
the assassin Thu, 6th Sep '01, 1:23am Which guild do you get better stuff at, the Shadow Thieves or Bodhi's guild?

Mirkwood Thu, 6th Sep '01, 1:56am Working for Bodhi gets you more stuff - all the gear you would get from Aran Linvail + ring of Djinni summoning + Rifthome axe (throwing axe +3).
Plus you get to murder lots more people, including a corrupt politician. :)
Tiamat Thu, 6th Sep '01, 2:45am I think you can open the chest in Aran's room to get the ring of Djinni summoning, even if you're joining him. Not a very good attitude for a thief.... What working for Bodhi *really* gets you is Aran's nice Elven Chain +1. Not that remarkable by ordinary standards, but if you're playing a dual- or multi-class mage of some sort, it's very useful.

the assassin Fri, 7th Sep '01, 1:52am Will Keldorn leave your group if you join Bodhi's guild? Either way, you do bad things for both guilds, but you do get better items from the Shadow Thieves...
Kailynne Johanne Fri, 7th Sep '01, 3:27am This thread is of interest to Duharrel as he has to make the choice soon - he's running out of out of Athkala quests to seek out...
I normally side with the Theives, but Duharrel seems to be doing things that others would view as Evil (suggesting siding with Bodhi) when, in actuality, they are merely chaotic (loook out for number one, ya know?).

Lokken Fri, 7th Sep '01, 6:34am I believe there's more experience in joining the shadow thieves, and most of the stuff you can get from them anyway.
The elven chain is only +1, so finding a regular chain where you could wear a ring of protection to give you +1 to all saving throws as well would be better. In Trademeet, do the mantle quest and let them whack eachother, and you got a fine elven chain nonmagical :)
If you have Haer'Dalis, finding that Melody Chain(forgot the precise name) is a must.
TIN_MAN Fri, 7th Sep '01, 10:30am I think it is not about the good stuff. I can't imagine to work for a vampire! The are to be killed and staked!(said my undead hunter)
Tassadar Fri, 7th Sep '01, 10:36am maybe if i work for bodhi (and stab her in the back, heheh) those damn vampires wont attack me in the streets at night at the worst possible times
Lokken Fri, 7th Sep '01, 12:56pm sadly you can't turn on bodhi, it isn't arkanis garth in vampire mode though. Bodhi just kills your entire party (not sure how though, some instant death thingy).
But roleplaying should be the main issue, the stuff you get isn't that different anyway..
and joining undead? *shivers* I hate undead! you can't trust them!
Hurt Fri, 7th Sep '01, 2:28pm I've never joined Bodhi (since you know who her brother is), and I never will(probably). It just seems wrong.
the assassin Fri, 7th Sep '01, 10:52pm But will you lose Keldorn if you join Bodhi's guild or reveal MaeVar?
Big B Fri, 7th Sep '01, 11:38pm I don't know about losing Keldorn by joining Bodhi for sure but I think that's been said before, but no you won't loose Keldorn by doing the Mae'var quest.
Alyr Arkhon Sat, 8th Sep '01, 12:06am No, you don't lose Keldorn, though he complains a little. I think that you get the same experience with both Guilds.
AvaLance204 Sat, 8th Sep '01, 12:27am I personally prefer siding with Bodhi since I enjoy the killing of humans a bit more than the killing of vampires. Consider me evil, but I just manipulate others to get the most out of the situation.
Shadow_Goddess Sat, 8th Sep '01, 12:39am I joined with Aran Linvail. I got good stuff, but I cannot tell you which is better because I didn't try joining Bohdi. If you are gonna kill her in the end though, I suggest you go with Bohdi.
Lokken Sat, 8th Sep '01, 12:42am if you plan the story you could join the vampires. Cleaning Athkatla of both Shadow Thieves AND Vampires, two for the price of one.
Though I still don't trust undead, too bad you can't kill Aran after you get back from spellhold
Laksol Sat, 8th Sep '01, 4:46am First time I go with ST, why not go with Bodhi next? ;)
the assassin Sat, 8th Sep '01, 9:53pm If you side with Bodhi and you have a Paladin in your party, what will happen? Doesn't the Order and shadow thieves help you out to kill Bodhi later?
Divine Shadow Sat, 8th Sep '01, 10:49pm Hey is it true that "the door is closing soon" as Valen says, or can you join at any time?
Zaragoth Sat, 8th Sep '01, 11:11pm Can someone tell me what items you recieve from the different guilds?
A list perhaps?
Tassadar Sat, 8th Sep '01, 11:59pm well i joined bodhis vampire empire for the first time and actually found the quests quite enjoyable (mostly because id never done them before)
shadow thieves are a piece of cake to beat up compared to vampies (use detect invisibility a lot to find those backstabbing thieves) - so i think joining bodhi is in fact easier than aran's thieves (level drain really pisses me off, and vampies need magical weapons to hit)
you dont get the amulet of power and ring of protection +2 straight away though, but you get a rifthome axe +3 - so far so good...
the assassin Sun, 9th Sep '01, 3:47am But what will happen if you have a paladin in your party?
Laksol Sun, 9th Sep '01, 8:38am Someone did say if you had Keldorn in party and joined Bodhi's guild he would renounce you and leave away, also the Noble Order would not help you later I simply guess, because this is an evil doing...
Maybe I'm wrong?
To Divine Shadow: And as soon as you don't pay Gaelon money, Bodhi will wait for you at grave district surely.
KRaK6 Sun, 9th Sep '01, 5:23pm Can u only choose between the Shadow Thieves or Bodhi, or is there other ways of rescuing Imoen which i havent discovered yet
Lokken Sun, 9th Sep '01, 5:48pm Nope, that's the only two ways of getting there.
I heard some rumors about the paladin being able to go there in connection with stronghold, but I wouldn't know (haven't played paladin).
JohnnyRTFM Sun, 9th Sep '01, 7:01pm I played through as a paladin my first time through and the stronghold provided no other means of rescuing Imoen. The paladin stonghold gives you some really good equipment (Pride of the Legion, some shield and, of course, Carsomyr) but no additional "opportunities."
tjekanefir Mon, 10th Sep '01, 5:22am You can get the paladins to help you fight Bodhi if your rep is high, but they couldn't find you a pirate to take you to Brynnlaw if their chrome-plated butts depended on it. (-:
the assassin Tue, 11th Sep '01, 4:55am Is anyone actually sure what will happen with Keldorn if you join Bodhi's guild?
tjekanefir Tue, 11th Sep '01, 3:11pm Yes. He leaves the party. So does Mazzy.
