You might want to be a little more reserved about which stat to change than just the lowest. Dropping stats can change a lot of things, they could end up affecting you saving throws, AC, Thac0, etc. I dropped my Dex from 19 to 18, I don't use missile weapons so no difference for me.

Also if you want to avoid it altogether you could import/export your character. But remember, they give you some pretty ridiculously powerful abilities in the end to "make up" for the lost ability scores. Though I have no doubt they do it because it keeps you from pulling a BG1. Finish the game 50 times and you have so many special abilities, your not the blood of a god, you are the god.

in the same vein, do you think we will be able to raise stats in the expansion? I am very !!! frustrated that my half-elf kensai lost a point of dex at the end game...

If you've got one of those stat increasing book things you could use, then you just have to use the corrisponding stat, if you know what I mean.

There are no Tomes or Manuals to increase stats in BG2. Maybe they will implement them in ToB, but there aren't any in the regular game.

If somebody wants to complete BG2 just to get the bonuses in the end, they are more than welcome. This game took me 3 weeks on my second run. If someone is prepared to use fifty times this just to gets some statincrease, I think they deserve it.

Anyway, it's a single player game. Use shadow keeper! Some people say it's cheating, but in my opinion it's just a tool to make the game suit your preferences.

If you're playing a multiplayer game you can export your PC right before he loses the stat and then import him back right afterward.

This doesn't work for the dex loss that you suffer in hell, though.

Apparently in tob there is a machine that has different effects depending on what you press (including massive stat boosts). In that case quicksave before hand and just get the bonuses and learn how to avoid the nasty things!
