View Full Version : Well hidden items
StressedE Mon, 15th Oct '01, 11:19am I'd like to know what very well hidden items you've come across.
For instance in the unseeing eye mission.
You have to solve riddles to make the bridge.
On the right side you can pick up a warhammer +1 +1 lightning damage.
Just like the one in the store.
Headbanger Mon, 15th Oct '01, 3:10pm I know tehre are a lot of people that have problems with finding Belm.
StressedE Mon, 15th Oct '01, 8:57pm I found that one multiple times.
Can't remember where but I found it
I just never knew the rewards of killing dragons so I never bothered.
Gonna try that this time.
Tiamat Mon, 15th Oct '01, 9:49pm Belm's in a bale of hay of the Ogre Magi's tower, in the Druid Grove.
How about any loot hidden under the dead Firkraag? I always have an enormous amount of trouble picking that up.... Oof, you've gotta lose some weight, man!!
In the planar prison, there's several containers (three, I think, actually) camouflaged into the walls of the structure. They're just about impossible to find....
Mirkwood Tue, 16th Oct '01, 12:51am The Beholder lair in the Underdark is the same... there are several stashes of loot hidden in the walls. If you have ToB installed though it's a no-brainer, just hit TAB and they are all highlighted.
Frog Tue, 16th Oct '01, 1:05am I refuse to use the tab key. I think that ruines the roleplaying aspect of searching a room. I mean now all I have to do is hit TAB and puff. Magically, I know where everything is at. While when I was playing through SoA for the first time(and BG1) I had to carefully search every room I came across and discover bit by bit where all the goodies were hiding.

Damona Silvercloud Tue, 16th Oct '01, 4:33am I feel a little dumb about this, but this is my third time through the game, and I just discovered the niche in the wall at the temple of Lathander, in the Temple District. That and there's a planter near the High Hall that has something in it too. Nothing special, a necklace I think, but it's a handy place to stash stuff when questing in that area. Something new every time I play...
Icing Death Wed, 17th Oct '01, 2:59am lets make a list and say where all the hidden items he can find are, including items u pickpocket off people and stuff
Firestorm Wed, 17th Oct '01, 1:01pm In the Playhouse under the Five Flagons Inn in the props room there is a VERY small container in the Tower like thing, it contains some gems.
And in the Temple of Aumanator in Umar Hills there is a container of the same kind in the talking statue. You have to not be able to see the statue to get the gems inside it.
Hurt Wed, 17th Oct '01, 2:25pm I you pick-pocket the guy in the Adventures Mart you'll get a cool ring.
And there's a drow in the underdark who has 5000 gold in his pocket.
StressedE Wed, 17th Oct '01, 7:04pm Yeah that regenerating ring.
5000???
The ring is the only thing I thought was worth pickpocketing in the whole game.
Except for stores.
Also in the thieves guild you can buy a cloak of the nymph only found that the second time I played the game.
spetznaz Fri, 29th Mar '02, 5:39pm You can pick-pock Kangaxx when he transform to Demi-Lich. You'll get a Ring of Gaxx and when you slay Kangaxx you'll get another one.
NOTE! This is the best ring by far in the game!
[spetznaz - Enough! You don't need to reiterate your pick-pocketing of Kangaxx over and over again; we've all heard you already. -BTA]

Volar Blackmane Fri, 29th Mar '02, 7:07pm Do you just *have* to raise every old topic up and comment on that stupid bug-abuse? Why not use shadowkeeper and edit everyone in your party two of them while you're at it?
Desu Fri, 29th Mar '02, 9:57pm rofl
that would be harsh =)
Creslyn Mon, 1st Apr '02, 4:07am Dont know if it quite counts as hidden, but the upgraded mace of disruption (+2) is nice :)
Master of Nuhn Mon, 1st Apr '02, 4:24pm Yeah...Upgrading the Mace is a fine job.
There is an other one not very hard to find.
I never bothered to search the Gate District. Went to the Inn...and found this hidden room. First I was quite surprised by the powers of a lich...I had never seen one before and thought it might be an easy job to kill it....
After that I found my all time favorite undeadchopper.
Daerītan Tue, 2nd Apr '02, 1:03pm i do like the staff you find in the bridge district (Staff of the Magi) itīs niiiiiice:D
Ashnazg Sun, 7th Apr '02, 6:49am Where exactly is that Staff of the Magi anyway? Played the game through several times but never came across the item....
Blackthorne TA Sun, 7th Apr '02, 8:28am Just poke around in the Bridge District, but make sure you have a Rogue Stone in your pocket.
Desu Sun, 7th Apr '02, 7:13pm The Bridge district has several houses which you can enter and face some enemies. Especially when you're an evil party. But the Staff of the Magi (must have Rogue Stone!) is found on the right side, and start from the bottom to the top, there in one of those houses.
Creslyn Mon, 8th Apr '02, 3:08am By the way, just as a hint about the difficulty of getting that staff, I would suggest that unless you are -
a) an extremely high level party
or
b) suicidal
you take along a scroll of magic protection.
Ragusa Mon, 8th Apr '02, 7:56am You'll not necessarily need a scroll of magic protection ... I personally preferred to use it in the beholder lair in the underdark (went there first) and I intend to use the second on Irenicus in hell or if everything goes bad, for the last group of the cowled wizards (yep, I'm metagaming ...)
So I played the twisted rune without it ... and no one died! Near the x-cap though ... funny, hefty fight but I did it :) Supportive cleric spells are awesome ... but it doubtless is a high level fight.

Shamroc Sun, 14th Apr '02, 2:55am In the sewers underneath the Temple District there is a secret stash too. run your mouse over the circular valve openers along the corridors (sorry cannot think of a proper name. :( Looks like door valves in a submarine). I believe it's West of the Rakshasa/Kobold room. Has several scrolls & loot.
Faerus Stoneslammer Sun, 14th Apr '02, 3:30am My favourite item to date in the game is the cloak of mirroring (Sahuagin city, on some priestess on a bridge-like path [between two artificial ponds] north-east of the middle of the map) with this there's no need for magic protection (unless the bad guys have maze or dominate/charm [for this just get Lilarcor :D). It's not really hidden, but it kicks @$$.
spetznaz Mon, 15th Apr '02, 4:32pm Personaly, I think that the fight for the Staff of the Magi in bridge district is to easy for a staff like that. I've never had any problem getting that one. Even when I soloed, it had been to easy.
Oh, well, Cheers :D.
Ironbeard Mon, 15th Apr '02, 9:22pm I think there's a lightning trap on the gem in the Amaunator statue.
Turandil Tue, 16th Apr '02, 10:24pm How about staf of power? Never found that one, but it should be almoast as powerfull as the staf of magi. Well I might have found it, but it looks as a staf +1 so I might have throwed it away, but i think not.
Vukodlak Wed, 17th Apr '02, 12:13am I've read several times on these forums something about a scimtar called wateredge (or somesuch) but I've never found it. Does it even exist?
(Shouldn't be any of Drizzt's blades cause they should be called Icingdeath and Twinkle IIRC)
C'Jakob Wed, 17th Apr '02, 1:21am IIRC, the Staff of Power is a staff made by your apprentices in the Mage Stronhold. I forget its stats, though. Water's Edge is a +3 scimitar; I believe it's found in the House Jae'llat in Ust Natha. You must take on the Gilded Rope Quest, get the Jae'llat Wardstone, go onto the highest story of the Jae'llat House, and there (I think it's there) it is.
Master of Nuhn Wed, 17th Apr '02, 1:22am Water's Edge can be found in Jae'llat's House in Ust Natha....it's just a Scimitar +3, but with a nice gleam. It can be found in a trunk or cabinet....
mmmh,C'Jacob was a little faster....
And about Staff of Power: it gives you +2 to savingthrows and ac and it has something to do with a lightningbold of paralize or somewhat. And you can cast globe of invulnerability...thac0 is +2 iirc
