The CEO of Obsidian Entertainment answers a few questions about Neverwinter Nights 2 at 1UP.

How long have you been working on Neverwinter?

Well, we've been working with the engine for a while, as the KOTOR and Neverwinter engines are fairly similar. Real work, though, didn't begin until July 1 of this year, when we hired some people and put a crew together. There are about ten people working on it right now, ripping out stuff and putting it back in. We hope to be more into the production stage later in the year.

What goals do you have in mind for the project to help it go beyond just another expansion pack?

Urquhart: Several things. First, we're not going to use any of the art from the first game; there will be a totally new graphics engine. There are a lot of other new features that I can't talk about right now, partly because we're still working on them, but we really want to make sure this is a different product. One of the things with making a Neverwinter product is that you can't lose the main focus. We have to remember this this a game that's going to be modded, and we don't want to screw that up.
