http://doc.bioware.com/images/news/bioware/news_2million_roundtable_60x80.jpgAs part of the 2 Million Member Celebration bonanza event this month, we asked a group of Neverwinter Nights community members (http://www.bioware.com/2million/articles/nwn_roundtable_p1.html) to talk about the BioWare's community, persistent worlds, multiplayer and DMed NWN play, and the future of NWN. Reminder: the last day to enter the giveaway is Monday, so enter now (http://www.bioware.com/2million/)! Discuss (http://forums.bioware.com/viewtopic.html?topic=375837&forum=41).

So You Want To Be A Dungeon Master?
http://doc.bioware.com/images/news/nwn/news_nwn_howtodm_80x60.jpgLooking for a new way to play NWN beyond the single player game? The DM Client offers a unique experience in computer gaming. As DM, you do more than play the game, you are the game. You provide the adventure, moderate events, and help make a story come alive for your players. How do you become a DM? A good start would be reading the advice of Arawen Silverstar (http://nwn.bioware.com/dms/profile_dmhowto.html), head of the DM-Friendly Initiative and a DM at Neverwinter Connections. Discuss (http://forums.bioware.com/viewtopic.html?topic=375836&forum=41).

The multiplayer elitism of some of those community members rounded up in the first article is almost unbearable. These people are apparently firmly convinced that all NWN ever needed was multiplayer, and screw everyone who also expected a great single player experience. There's just one problem here - of 2 million NWN copies sold, maybe a few percent of the people who bought the game actually play it online.

As if listening to Feargus suck up in every NWN2 interview about how "NWN had a strong single player experience" wasn't bad enough. Give me a break.

NWN wasn't advertised as a multiplayer-only game, so attempts to revise history now by only focusing on that aspect of the game are pretty sad. Just like some replies in that article by people who seem to think that everyone should be playing NWN online, and if they don't, it's their own problem. Most people who bought the game have neither the time nor inclination for it, and expect a great gaming experience out of the box - not to have to chase it around online.
