The news from Turbine just keeps on rolling in, and we have a couple of bits of juicy gossip for you to continue the trend. Firstly and most excitingly, there will be a competition over at the DDO official gaming forums for the best player-written game guide, with what are some shockingly good prizes. Here's a quick peek at the words of Turbine's Quarion:

ROUND ONE: Nomination:

Any game guide posted in the Game Guides Forum , AND EMAILED to DDOContests@turbine.com by 11:59 pm eastern time on Sunday, September 30th, 2007 will be eligible. Starting at 11:00 am eastern time on Monday, October 1st, 2007 the NOMINATION ROUND will begin. Players will be asked to nominate their SINGLE favorite guide in a nomination thread, posted at the top of the Game Guides Forum. Each forum member may nominate one guide and cast one nomination post. Additional nominations or posts will be deleted without being counted. On Sunday, October 7th, 2007 the nomination round will end at 11:59pm eastern time, and the top 10 nominated guides will be announced shortly thereafter.

ROUND TWO: Voting and Judging:
On or around 11:00 am eastern time on Monday, October 8th, 2007 the top ten finalists’ guides will be announced in a poll, for the community to vote on. Also at this time, the top ten guides will be submitted to select DDO Developers for judging. Judging and voting will close on Thursday, October 11th, at 11:59pm eastern time. On or around Monday, October 15th, 2007, the winners will be announced.

General

Dolurrh environmental effects will now display an appropriate screen overlay.

Players should no longer experience ethereality issues after a tavern brawl.

We have added a glossary tool to the game. To look up a word, type "/glossary {word}"

There have been changes to the lifetimes of mail. Unopened mail will now remain for 21 days and opened mail will remain for 5 days. Only mail received or opened after the update will follow these new rules.

The /death command, meant to be used only in the most dire of situations, has been changed to automatically release the character to his or her bindpoint after killing the character. This change is meant to address several /death related exploits.

Skills should no longer show up as "n/a" in the summary page of advancement.
