Ahoy thar me hearties!

Should ye be scourin' the seas for new mods te play, thar be a new one in the makin' by the fine folk over at The Projects. The Forgotten Wars Projects, that is. :)

Ahem, anyways...

Here's an excerpt from the FAQ to give you a brief explanation of what this mod is.

----------------------

Blades of Brynnlaw is a new adventure that takes place on the island of Brynnlaw.

It happens in chapter 6 after the PC has emerged from the Underdark and is hunting for the Rhynn Lanthorn, and will give you a chance to explore the island and it's inhabitants more fully.

It is intended for a party of level 13-16 or so (around 1.5 million XP), so it is suggested that the player do a stronghold quest in chapter 2 to gain enough gold to rescue Imoen and proceed directly to

Brynnlaw and through the Underdark.

Some highlights include:
- A (hopefully) refreshing take on what it is to be good or evil
- A new stronghold available to all classes, in addition to any other strongholds you may have
- Numerous flavour NPCs to enhance the immersion of Brynnlaw
- Smuggling, plundering, thieving, looting, and general skullduggery
- Challenging combat (though nothing on the scale of the Weimer tactical encounters)
- Hirelings!
- A new dungeon to explore
- Expanded buildings in Brynnlaw
- Diverse PC dialogue options to enhance the role-playing experience
- Multiple outcomes that depend on your decisions
- A chance to put Desharik in his place
- An epic battle involving THREE armies

----------------------

Set sail fer the BoB forums straight away, ye scurvy sea dogs, lest Umberlee send yer ship te the bottom o' the sea te let yer soul rot in the Boneyard for all eternity! Arrrgh!

Welcome to the SP boards Heh, thanks. :)

Q - how big is it gonna be & will quests there still be open? So far the largest and latest alpha build is 10.45 MBs, but that's without using the TISPack util to compress the tilesets. If I had used that it would've likely brought it down to ~6 MBs or so.

There is a lot that remains to be done though, so the size will definitely be larger than that.

Edit: Oh, and I suppose I should answer the other question. :)

No, unfortunately. The situation in Brynnlaw has changed drastically since the PC was last there, but you will see the consequences of the quests that you did complete.

Ghreyfain, i've always been a big fan of the Forgotten Wars, and I was just wondering if this will contain the 'full' hirelings feature or if there's a seperate mod for that?

I'm not the one doing the hirelings bit, that's japh, but I'm pretty sure the independent hirelings mod is inactive. Krondor was the main guy for that project and he's got other things happening.

The hirelings in BoB will be mainly for the BoB portion, but the "elites" that you can hire will remain with you.

So, SP has finally sucked the mighty Ghreyfain into it's depths. I expected you here sooner.

Since I'm here, I'll ask you a question: the FAQ says Hirelings...does this mean the Hirelings mod is being cramed into this mod, or are these differs guys? :rolling:

That's explained in the FAQ, but the basic answer is both yes and no. We haven't really finished integrating the hirelings, so it's hard to tell so far.
