Oh come on. More content please? If you're asking for a release date, many publishers and developers don't give then out now, after so many delays and vaporware releases in the industry. A company is making a game called Baldur's Gate 3. No-one knows more than that.

BG3 In The Works
Thursday, November 4, 2004, 13:27 | MageDragon
According to the October issue of PC Gamer magazine, Baldur’s Gate III is in the works. Although Atari has not announced who the developer or publisher is, they did confirm it would use a 3D engine and AD&D 3.5 rules. Here is a small excerpt:
”The plot will be set in the early days of Baldur’s Gate, but don’t be surprised if you run into a hamster-toting ancestor of Minsc. Atari intends to incorporate a memorable array of Forgotten Realms monsters, races, sub-races and prestige classes and is working closely with Wizards of the Coast to faithfully develop the setting, characters and story. Hight plans to poll fans to ensure that favorite characters, classes and locations are included."
The Hight mentioned is John Hight, Atari Executive Producer. Let’s hope he gets in touch with us here at PlanetBaldursGate so we can run some polls for him.

Stay tuned, we will post more news as we get more information.

How about rather looking through our news archives, we've posted plenty on the subject, and months prior...

Would be nice if they told us who the bloody developer is... *grumble*

Hmm, maybe they're embaressed of whoever they've gotten to make it, and don't feel like getting slammed by the mounds of rabid fanboys just yet :)

Unless the developer is Bioware or Obsidian Entertainment, I don't hold much hope for this game.

So... any news on this game? Has it been scraped, or put on hold? Id like to see a BG3 personally. :)

@ Aikanaro: Or fangirls, not all D&D gamers are boys you know :p

they did confirm it would use a 3D engine I would sure hate to see a BG game using a 3D engine, giving it a kind of maybe neverwinterish look. The BG series had it's own aura, and a feeling about it I have yet to see in any other game (ToEE is the closest I've gotten to the feeling I have when playing BG).

The environment gave the BG series a unique atmosphere, and brought the people and places around you alive in a way that the clumsy and cold 3D design just can't.
So I say shame on anyone who dare to ruin a great series like Baldur's Gate :shame: .

I third it. I'll admit to not playing NN much, but a lot of that was due to the 3D aspect of it. I don't hate 3D games, but I really prefer 2D when it comes to RPG's like BG and IWD. 2D suits it a lot more, because you can see all your party in one shot, and can plan tactics and movement accordingly. You don't get that with 3D.

Brenon Holmes: Mark, is currently working on other stuff in the company which has not been made public. For all we know Mark Brokington might be working on BG3! I seriously doubt it myself though  . This is probably (as usual) just another crappy sequel (prequel, in this case) made strictly for making money, which ends up ruining a very good series. If so, then I will make an oath to never touch an Atari-published game in my life time!
