on some forums of other games, like the here ofton hated NWN, peple talk about te xp. most of the time mission are killing spreas to get the most xp. so stop giving it for killing. give it at completing missions. well you all know what I mean. (Yeah NWN)

I think it would be harsh if your character was a warrior and got no experience from the battles you survived/won.

Spiritmongrel, he would still get xp, just overall xp for participating in the battle (which would be covered by a quest) and not per individual kill. The change is you no longer get xp for random encounters, which makes them just obstacles on your way for the quest, instead of a farming possibility for xp.

You might argue that this removes from "building levels" before a tough point, but that can be handled by including some training centre or hired help.

some games like vampire give extra xp when non are killed , or after not being seen.

so an assasin gets xp when only the target is dead, an fighter when no-one stands, a thief when he has not been seen etc. non basic xp for the mission, but extra for doing it like your class.

^It's very good idea nad fits the system. Something similar was in BG2 - there were xp for killing, learning spells, opening locks. And a BIG amount of them for finishing quests in any way.

The farming aspect is what I meant but forgot to mention. Many rpg games get halfway to a certain point that foe's like orcs are a walkover due tot the level of the party. thankfully modern rpg like nwn adapt to your level.

I think it should not be a problem gaining xp from killing. You would get 64.000xp from killing a dragon in BG2.Compare it with a quest gain xp you will understand what i mean.
And i think BG3 will use AD&D v3.5 so you qont get xp from killing much weaker foes from you.

This reminds me of Daggerfall, where you had to run around and jump for xp, wich made this game suck. I like the idea, but it must be difficault to convert to a computergame.

Morrowind uses that system to. And again at a certain point not much is a treat anymore. It is one of the few flawes of that game. Oblivion bring it on.
