Here are today's Neverwinter Nights 2 forum highlights, collected by NWVault (http://nwvault.ign.com) from Obsidian Forums (http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showforum=21). Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

Just to let you know NWN2 is very fortunate that MCA will be coming aboard once KotOR2 is done. But I've been tapped to lead this one. A lot of your points were fine ones, and some of them we're already planning on doing. Some we won't - because we have thrown our own gauntlets around the office (keep tripping on the damned things, too) with our own internal challenges on ways to make NWN2 something truly special. smile.gif
More: Rest easy, Hades. No time travel is planned. I actually think it can be done right (like Chrono Trigger), but it's a tricky beast.
Story ('http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=12212&hl=')
The story as it stands right now does grow. No "save the earth" quests given right from the get go. I completely agree, 1st level characters shouldn't be charged with saving all of creation. I guess this admission is a small spoiler, so enjoy.

There's only so much time in the day, but I try and keep up on the forums. Good ideas I write down in my scratch pad. My scratch pad list is huge and combined with other folk's pads it gets crazy, and there is only so much time to implement things - so I know a good chunk of the things we want won't get made (there's always expansions, though).
Just to let you know, I don't work for marketing so my goal isn't to hype the project - I read the boards to answer what questions I can, get to know folks who care about something I care about greatly, and also to see what ideas are out there. As far as whether there are "red lines" out there, of course there are. The license we're working on is a dream come true to a geek like me, but it doesn't come with unlimited freedom. I think most of those lines are things you guys would appreciate. As for the others, none are so major that we still don't have a lot of freedom to make a great game.
The suggestions I think that get the most mileage are the ones that deal with more nuts and bolts issues. Suggestions that make gameplay more fun - like MC's suggestion on new container types, for example. Story suggestions even without a license are trickier beasts. Typically designers create that on their own using whatever source of inspirations drive them. I like sacrficing KFC nuggets to my pagan gods, for example. Well, not really, but you get my point.
So my overall advice is if you passionately believe that something would make NWN2 better, just speak out. Preferrably politely and well-written.

We're going for Adult Only. Well, maybe I should rephrase - I'm going for AO. But I'm sure they will stop my evil ambitions.
