Here are today's Neverwinter Nights 2 forum highlights, collected by NWVault (http://nwvault.ign.com) from Obsidian Forums (http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showforum=21). Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

Obsidian, what have you done?! (http://nwn2forums.bioware.com//forums/viewpost.html?topic=414657&post=3434396&forum=95&highlight=)
Frankly, while I speak for myself, I can also say that some of us are getting kind of tired of seeing the Kotor2 "bashing" show up on these NWN2 forums. I think a lot of you guys are failing to realize that making a game isn't as dreamy as simply sitting down and saying "hey, let's do this and that and this...and it will be done when we say it's done." Nope, sorry...it just doesn't work that way. The reality of the business, at least for now is that we answer to "other factors". While I also realize that some of you do "get" this, you guys seem to be far and few between. With that being said, I think it should also be noted that a large majority of the NWN2 team is different than the Kotor2 team. On top of that, it's also a completely different and unrelated publisher. The bottom line is this... If we had all the time in the world, then by all means we'd give you guys all what you want. We value honest, meaningful, insightful, and creative feedback and suggestions. But please also keep in mind that there are timelines that we have to work within and features do have to be prioritized. I hope you guys can understand that. So, from this point forward please make an honest effort to refrain from mentioning/bashing Kotor2 in these forums. And PLEASE, don't come on here with an attitude like we've "wronged" you and you just "can't trust" us anymore and that you're going to "admonish" us for something that we may or may not have had direct control over. Thanks. http://forums.bioware.com/_commonext/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif
More: Thanks for the response...and that goes to all of you guys. While you guys may or may not have not directly "bashed" Kotor2, there have certainly been numerous Kotor2 threads pop-up on these forums over the past week or so, and my response was directed at them as well...more of an all inclusive type response. Again, I'll reiterate that we love quality, meaningful, helpful (and the list goes on) feedback. We want to make a great game as much as you guys want us to make a great game. For us that's what it's all about. But, all we can do is work with what we're given to start with and do the best we can from that point forward.

The lighting engine has been completely rewritten from scratch. The scene lighting will be as customize-able as you want it. I've already aluded to the fact that lighting will be 100% under the control of the module builder.

Why don't writers get any love? (http://nwn2forums.bioware.com//forums/viewpost.html?topic=414600&post=3434768&forum=97&highlight=)
Just to let you know, we don't have a dedicated writer on staff - but writing is an essential skill for every Obsidian designer. It's a huge chunk of what we do every day and we make sure prospective designers can do it well during our rigorous hiring process. If you are wondering who the writers are over here then my answer is: Chris Avellone, Michael Chu, Tony Evans, John Lee, Kevin Saunders, and myself. http://forums.bioware.com/_commonext/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
