I can't say that I'm too pleased to hear that Bioware is going to focus on creating a MMOG, but oh well.
I thought one might have noticed that the announcement covers the creation of a new studio - BioWare, Austin. BioWare, Edmonton is busy focusing on the currently announced and unannounced titles.
Everyone wins http://forums.bioware.com/_commonext/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
More:
Wow i hope Bioware next MMO title would fail and rot in dungeon. Now i know all those complains of insufficient zottage goes to.. it goes to something i have 0 interest in.
You might said i'm selfish but this new bioware is not what i used to love. Their greed for $$ had lead them onto jumping the MMO band wagon in hope for milking the cash cow.
They would soon finds out that they'd made a wrong decision. I thought bio are different from other devs, unfortunately they are just followers of Copy the Mighty Cat http://forums.bioware.com/_commonext/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif
I suggest looking up what the Corp in BioWare Corp means. Hint: It's not an abreviation for "charity". I doubt you'll find anyone here who will object to making good games and good $$ at the same time.
Anyway, nobody forces you to buy any game you don't like, so I'm not sure what your problem is, especially since BioWare Edmonton is continuing to work on previously announced Non-MMO titles, so the idea that the subject of this announcement distracting "zots" from other games is wrong.
Anyway, back into the frozen tundra (melting actually)

The issue is not "is it legal." The issue is should Bioware promote that, even though it is legal?
Can you conjure a compelling reason that, given the unquestionable legality of the issue, BioWare shouldn't promote any module it likes?
In the end, if someone wants to make a world only for smurfs, then they are free to do so.
And if we believe that there are enough smurfs in the community who might want to know about such a world, why would we not give them a NWNWednesday feature.
Frankly, the discussion is silly. These servers are operated by players as a free of cost venture and they have absolutely no obligation to allow anyone to join their world. If they wanted to, they could limit it to only people whose CDKey starts with a 5. Would it be nice? No. Would it be legal? You bet. Nobody can force you to allow smurfs, aliens or other minorities into your garden party at home either. If you start a commercial venture and take cash for your garden parties, the situation might look different, of course.
If the host thinks he can avoid potential trouble by restricting access to minors, then it is his right to do so.
It's not that we are picking BioWare Wed. items based on "so who can we offend or discriminate against today?".

I should never be allowed to design games. http://forums.bioware.com/_commonext/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif
I'll ensure that never comes to pass, Stanley. http://forums.bioware.com/_commonext/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
More:
A BioWare studio that isn't surrounded by frozen tundra? I don't get it. I thought the cold was part of the inspiration that drove you guys. That, and the fact that gets too cold to go outside half the years kept you working 24/7 during the long night. http://forums.bioware.com/_commonext/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
That's what the shipment of bullwhips I ordered is for. Not as effective as snow, and a tad more scarring, but they'll get the job done. http://forums.bioware.com/_commonext/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
That, and a love of what we do, will keep both studios working just as hard as always.
