After all that... it comes down to $$$ (http://nwn.bioware.com//forums/viewpost.html?topic=493953&post=4287031&forum=82&highlight=)

I can't say that I agree with the idea that gold is a measure of the characters success: I find that far too materialistic, and actually quite cynical, this is a role-playing game not a business-sim, after all.
Roleplaying a non-materialistic, epic adventurer is not only silly, it's unheard of.
The great heros of fantasy lore were always right in the center of the whole "fame and fortune" thing. They epitomize it. It's their goal in life. Even Paladins do it for the money... money that can be distributed to the poor for the cause of good.
In D&D, heros don't slay dragons because it's "the moral thing to do". They slay dragons because dragons keep hoards.
And just How can it be *unheard of* when your'e *hearing about it?* http://forums.bioware.com/_commonext/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif
...and don't push your 1 dimensional viewpoints onto everyone else; just because you play it in that way dosn't mean everyone else does.
You seem to have totally misunderstood quite a few things: A Paladin (particularly) fights for justice, honour and righteousness NOT wealth. I would suggest you check up on a few things before you continue to embaress yourself with blurting out any more nonsense.
-Vixxy
Vixxy, first of all comments like "embaress yourself with blurting out any more nonsense" are not wanted here. If I see you picking fights with other posters like this, I'll make it so you don't fight (or anything else) here. Fighting is against the rules of conduct, so behave.
Second, I agree that a Paladin does not directly fight for gold. But I'd be willing to bet your Paladin didn't go into battle wearing a tan shirt and brown pantaloons wielding a butter knife. Paladins like the big armor, large weapons, shields, horses, etc. And all that sort of things costs. Yes, sometimes they find them or are granted them by rewards, but I'm going to say that most Paladins with 100 gp given the choice between tything 50gp or buying a better weapon/shield/armor, etc will choose the item. To steal a famous movie line "First joo get the money, then joo get da power." Paladins are certainly more altruistic that most other classes, but they don't take a vow of poverty either.
