Here are today's Neverwinter Nights 2 forum highlights, collected by NWVault (http://nwvault.ign.com). Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

it's pretty much like any game. All games will have a different feel, especially when they are made from a different developer.
Which camera mode do you use most often? (http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewpost.html?topic=548726&post=4813411&forum=109&highlight=)
Simple task here. Unfortunately we don't have any polls on this forum so...
Please let me know what camera mode you use most often. I don't need to know why or how you feel about the other cameras, just state which camera mode you usually use. Your short responses will make this go so much easier http://forums.bioware.com/_commonext/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

<hr />if all you are looking for is news on developer posts i would say once in the morning and once at night is sufficient. developers have too much to be working on at the moment and will only post or visit here once per day or every other day at most.
so if you checking for these more than twice per day it is too much. you might find it better to just join the community and BS while you are here.<hr />Actually many of us are on here throughout the day.
While we wait for things to build or in between tasks... we check the forums to see what the buzz is.
I am usually on here answering questions, posting or whatever a lot during the day. And, if you can't find me here, I am in the Community Rep IRC channel. We talk all day long.
More: <hr />The blog says early Feb for 1.05. Really, many of the bugs were squashed in 1.04...I check for expansion news now, as nothing I think is very important will be changed until then.<hr />Not to get anyone's hopes up, but 1.05 and 1.06 look pretty nice to me http://forums.bioware.com/_commonext/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif
1.0.87 crash (http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewpost.html?topic=548732&post=4813537&forum=113&highlight=)
I believe you have a few more patches to go... Please run update.
What good is a halfling? (http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewpost.html?topic=548604&post=4813834&forum=109&highlight=)
We covered this in the IRC chat yesterday:
Halflings are a widely accepted unit of measure. As in: "That bloke is nearly five halflings tall," or, in answering the question of how far it is from Cormyr to the Dalelands, one could answer with a simple "That's about 30,000 halflings from here."
Hope that clears things up for everyone http://forums.bioware.com/_commonext/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Can I play this game yet? (http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewpost.html?topic=548655&post=4813854&forum=109&highlight=)
Konrax-
Maybe try installing your hard drive on someone else's computer. It could be your processor.
Also, there seems to be a trend where overclocking causes issues. If you are overclocked, try scaling back a bit or completely and see if that helps.
Ummm...what's going on here ????? (http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewpost.html?topic=548804&post=4815106&forum=109&highlight=)
Unfortunately that is an issue with the 1.04 patch. The ? symbols and extremely loud "PAIN!..." indicate a missing effect.
Something appears to have happened during the build process to remove these effects - resulting in the missing effect warning.
Up until I saw this thread, I only knew of one person running into this in one place in the game. I will create a thread in the spoilers forum. If you guys can post there and let me know where you are when you see this and what creature is causing the issue, that would help greatly.
Thanks.

???? PAIN! SO MUCH PAIN ??? effects (http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewpost.html?topic=548859&post=4815114&forum=110&highlight=)
It appears that something went wrong in the build process for the 1.04 patch and some people are seeing some strange effects with a lot of ??? floating around creatures and a voice screaming "PAIN! SO MUCH PAIN!"
If you are running into this issue, please post here and let me know where you are in the game when you see this and what creature is causing it.
Thanks.

You guys should really attend the dev chats. In the last one, it was revealed that there will be AI improvements in a patch soon.
NWN1 and NWN2 have two different play style designs. In NWN1 you had henchmen in your party. You could issue orders to them, but that was all.
NWN2 uses a party member system where you actually take control of your party members. You decide what spells they cast, etc. That's the thought behind the A.I.
Some people can't get used to taking control of their party members. That was me for a long time. But, if you learn to use your party as intended - taking advantage of their strengths and downplaying their weaknesses - you will have a very different experience.
tiles, and tilesets.2da don't seem to work from a hak (http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewpost.html?topic=548303&post=4815209&forum=115&highlight=)
yup.
More: Ok guys,
We still have to troubleshoot this, but I am going to add it to my Hot List for issues to be fixed.
Just to make sure I am understanding the problem: Custom Tilesets cannot be added to the list of tilesets in the toolset, correct? Is that the limit of the problem?

GUI Callback Documentation (http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewpost.html?topic=548723&post=4813400&forum=115&highlight=)
As has been mentioned elsewhere, Obsidian has launched a new blog that will be updated with information about NWN2.
You can go to:
http://forums.obsidianent.com/
and click the Blogs link near the top of the page to see the index of available blogs.
The Neverwinter Nights 2 blog will be one location to find posts containing technical information, news about upcoming patches, new features or bug fixes coming along, etc.
My latest posts can be found at a blog I maintain myself at:
http://oeiprogrammer.blogspot.com/
Those posts tend to be rough drafts or quick notes that will usually be integrated into the Obsidian Blog site over time.
One thing I have been trying to provide a lot more documentation on is the UI, including the types of UI Objects as well as the callbacks.
I am also adding some debugging functionality to the UI Callbacks to make it easier to figure out what might be going wrong with a callback if it isn't working the way you expect.
However, there are over 650 UI Callbacks and I don't have the time to add debug code nor document all 650+. So I wanted to make this post to invite those who work with custom UIs to request which UI Callback functions you would like debugging support for and/or detailed documentation on.
I will also read comments made at my blog, so it is possible to make documentation requests there.
Anyway, feel free to reply to this post so I can see which callbacks people want to know more about. :)
