I know this question has probably been asked and answered before, but... I just wanted to know if it would be permissable in BGII to dual wield with two identical weapons (i.e. 2 longswords) taking only a few attack penalties...

I don't think you'll be able to dual wield with two longswords at all.
Maybe one long and one short, but not with two. And even if you could the penalties for it should be severe.

I believe it won't even be possible to weild dual weapons. And if you read my reply to sorcerers you'll know what I know. (self promotion heh heh hah hah)(laughing maniacally!)

well... actually, i beleve that the only class that can duel weild without penalties are rangers, even then i think that BG 2 will allow the duel weilding of identical weapons. I mean hell if they are allowing you to own your own guild in the game (keep, castle, lair whathaveyou) then i am sure that they will allow the duel weilding ability. The ad&d core rules on ranger duel weilding is pretty good, so they might use that.
