Alrighty then, I just bought a pair of Cobra 2 way radios with a 6 mile range, and I was wondering if someone would like to give me a crash course on the many different frequencies, and which one (if any) is better than the others. My radios have 22 channels, which consist of 7 FRS/GMRS shared, 7 FRS only, and 8 GRMRS only. I can only legally use the 7 FRS only channels...until I get a FCC license, which is in the process.

What it comes down to is:

#1. What is the difference between FRS, GMRS, and FRS/GMRS shared channels?

#2.Which frequency(s) would get the most range?

#3. Why do I need a license to use over half the channels?!?! :rolling:
