I have another question :o

Is it possible to "turn off" scandisk? So it doesn't check the disk every time I hit reset button? Some hidden switch in register or is it something more trivial? It is just that I always press "x" so is it possible to completly avoid it?

Hmm, I think Scandisk only appears when the computer is shut down/restarted the wrong way. Always use the start menu for shutting down and restarting.

Hmmm, i was afraid of this answer... Thank you, but i know that, i want to know how to avoid it even if i reset it "the wrong way"

I believe it is possible. I've had cases on both Win 95 and 98 where scan disk has run everytime the computer is turned on (whether it should or not), times when it never ran, and times when it only ran when the computer was correctly turned off. Personally I believe it to be a bit 'screwy' lol (note: this is not biased simply because scan disk has screwed up my computer before).

Quite brave to still risk Win9x :shake:

Have you tried looking out for Win9x system tools?

ToTal,

try "Start", then "run" and type "msconfig". In WIN95/98 it should open a new window, where you can not only see and control the programs that are automatically loaded on start-up but also whether you want to turn on/off fast shut down and scandisk.

Hope it works.

IIRC (it has been almost 4 years since I last used it :p ), scandisk used to run even before the actual OS was loaded. If it's not in msconfig, try www.webattack.com (http://www.webattack.com) for some of those tools.
