View Full Version : How do I empty a browser cache?
Dragonfly Sat, 9th Oct '04, 4:38am My husband is having a problem with a program that he downloaded and cannot delete. He was given the instructions to "Close your web browser and empty your browser cache." We are not sure how to do this. Can someone please give me some instruction? Sorry for my ignorance in this matter. Thankyou
EDIT: it is a PC

Yirimyah Sat, 9th Oct '04, 4:44am Mac or PC? In Mac it is accesible via Safari -> Safari -> Empty Cache.
On PC I THINK it's in C:\ Documents And Settings\(active username)\Temp\Temporary Internet Files
Im not sure, as my PC is elsewhere and I am currently on a Mac.
You could google it though.
Rednik Sat, 9th Oct '04, 7:18am Not exactly sure what you mean, but if you need to get rid of temp internet files, do this:
Go to start>Settings>Control Panel>Network and Internet Connections>Internet Options
Once there, delete your temp internet files.
EDIT: I think that might only be for Internet Explorer, so if you are using another browswer I have no idea.
Takara Sat, 9th Oct '04, 9:06am If using Mozilla firefox, go to tools, and click on options. The first screen you see is a list of items and buttins. One of which says cache. Click on the clear button next to it.
BTW, this should be in Techno-magic.
Kitrax Sat, 9th Oct '04, 9:21am Another way of doing it is to run the Disk Cleanup Wizzard...wich, among other things, removes Temporary Internet Files. :rolling:
Taza Sat, 9th Oct '04, 9:33am It depends on your Operating System and browser.
Yirimyah Sat, 9th Oct '04, 10:45am Yeah, what version of Windows? 95, 98, or XP?
What I said was for XP.
Equester Sat, 9th Oct '04, 12:01pm toolbar -> Functions -> Internet options -> Delete files (next to delete Cookies)
Dark Haired Beauty Sat, 9th Oct '04, 12:56pm Download Internet Cleanup Wizard. Good way to clean up you computer to keep those nosey cookies and evil eyes out of your computer. If you have Windows...
Sarevok• Sat, 9th Oct '04, 1:00pm You mean the bar with all the wwwdots in it? go to tools > internet options > content > autocomplete > clear web forms and address etc. You may have to do it a few times. Then go back tools and clear history, cookies and temporary internet files.
