Hi I've been searching but have been unable to find any site that hosts the files for the (or any) service packs in order that I can download them over time rather than trying to keep my dial up connected long enough to download 30mb in one go. Does anyone know of any sites that have the service packs on them?

IIRC, you can call M$ and request that they send you a CD with all the latest service pack on it....I think M$ still offers support to Win2K.
Just tell them that you don't have an internet connection... :rolling:

Yeah I saw it on their site but alas that service is only for US and Canada.

I guess Microsoft doesn't like torrents :)

Your best bet would be to visit a buddy and ask if they would want to download it for you. I doubt you can even download a hefty 200 Mb package with a *snicker* dial-up. :shake:

Your local MS distributor should be able to get the CDs for you... how much they'll charge you is another matter, however. Sign up for an SPS account and I'll put the service pack on SP for you and you can download it from here.

I downloaded it through the web installer yesterday, took 2-3 hours for the 35mb which wasn't too bad. Though as I'm probably going to need to install it on another system in the near future does it store the installation files anywhere? There wasn't an option to do so in the installer but I wondered if anyone knows if the files are automatically saved anywhere.

you can download it from www.softwarepatch.com (http://www.softwarepatch.com) ... that's where I always update my system from
when you downloaded it, did you dl it as a self-extracting installer? If you got it from windowsupdate.com it may be still in your temp folder if you're lucky, but I'm unsure it will be .. look for "W2KSP4_EN.EXE" if you dled a foreign language pack the "EN" will be different

@hedron thanks for the link! Though they are only hosting the server edition (125 mb) rather than the smaller express edition (30mb).
Oh and I ran a full system search for the file but it wasn't found. Ah well 30mb isn't too bad (even on my lil dial up). Thanks for the help everybody.

you could also search the the download section at www.microsoft.com (http://www.microsoft.com) ... they do have the self-extracting installer somewhere on the site .. w/o you having to install it right then and there
