Some of you know what this is, for those this topic is.

I have played M since 1995 and played right from the start with Black.
I took up the game to day after a 1 year pause.
I made a terrible discovery, my friend weren't intressted anymore. So I wanted to play the game on my PC, But the game only contains 4th edition + promo cards and some banned ones, not very much.
So I wonderd if anybody happend to know were I can download other editions for Magic:the gathering microsoft tm.

My deck is a cliche:

4 Black Knight
4 Knight of stromgald
4 Dark ritual
2 Culling the weak
1 Icy manipulator
1 Ring of Gix
2 Sengir vampire
4 Hypnotic Specter
3 Drain life
4 terror
3 Hymn to tourach
1 Mind Twist3 Stripmine
4 Ebon stronghold
2 paralyze
2 Spawning pool
2 Necromancy
and some swamps

and i have some other good card who didn't make it to my deck ( 4 demonic tutor, 3 Bad moon, 1 Necropotence, Commander greven il-vec, 3 sorceres queen, etc.)
Does anyone know some good cards to put in.

And I also have a green deck, but that'll thake an other post.

Wow, good old MtG. You don't know how many hours I 'wasted' playing that game in college. I started in 1992 with beta. I have boxes of old cards that use to be worth a bit of money but now I think they have only memory value. I stopped playing when they make those type 2 rules. Most of my good cards were banned.

As far as I can remember (and I never was a big black player mostly blue) your deck sound rather OK. Some of those cards are not from the old set and I'm not sure what they do 'calling the weak'? I would use the dark moons if it was my deck. Plus to speed things up a few dark rits and some howl from beyonds go a long way.

I wasn't aware that there was a computer program to play magic, but it doesn't surprise me. What memories!

Want to give me his name! I have some great old cards (worth nothing now) but about 5 years ago quite a lot. I don't think anyone would pay today. I only bought packaged cards back in the day so I guess it's only fair I don't get to sell them for a load of cash. will people pay for old stuff? If so let me know. :)

Hey Fat Egg,

What to buy some out cards? ;) I've got beta, The Dark, Arabain Knights, a bunch of Legends, and some 3rd edition. Most of my really outstanding cards are blue, but I've got tons of others.

Back to the "any other versions" question:
(Actually, I'm just as OT as anyone else in this thread :D)

I always thought that MtG would be a great model for someone who wanted to try their hand at coding a server/client network game. This of course would be a total violation of copyright, but it would make it a lot easier to work on getting the interface right (because the objects and the rules that surround them are done for you).

Since I'm pretty much worthless at programming these days (source diving in NetHack is my main hobby), I never picked it up.

Green RULES!

Voltric, Beta cards should get you a fortune now! maybe $50 a card ... in Singapore! That was the prices buyers would pay 5 years ago so i guess it might have gone up...try it. Go to a card shop and ask how much beta cards would cost. If its good. Then unload and get rich!

I play Red and Blue. It's a hard deck to make combos with, but I've won quite a number of games with it.

Believe me, the majority of the new sets that they are coming out with have absolutely no worthwhile play value. This is a card from Prophecy:

Mana Cost: 2 black, 6 other
If there are 10 or more creatures in all graveyards combined, it costs 6 less to play.
It cannot be blocked by anything that is not black or artifact.
Tap it to destroy target creature.
Attack: 6
Defend: 5

Yes, it's very broken. My brother plays with 4 of them.

Actually, no. He bought three boosters and a pre-made.

But that's okay. I bought three boosters and one pre-made and got two Avatars of Might, and two Vitalizing Winds (one of them foil).

You know, I was playing a T1 Tourney the other day, and I got to pull my favorite trick. Bring out a Rock Hydra and Dopplegang it. During your next upkeep give the Hydra another head, and then Dopplegang the Hydra a second time. Continue on until you have two (or more) 11/11 Hydras. Then play Overrun. :D

Darn, I though this was a post about the Norwegian LAN-party The Gathering, which is the biggest computer party in the world (5000 attendants last year). Any of you going there?

I started collecting when the 'Mirage' deck came out and stopped when the 'Tempest' deck came out...how long was that?

Voltric

Mirage deck? I guess that answer is long after I stopped playing. Alas beta cards were worth a bit 5 years ago but not as much today. I will just kept them and play sometime, if I can find someone to play against.
