I have the feeling this topic has been discussed over here but since Myst 3 is already out in the States I thought I'd reopen the file.
The game isn't released here yet but I'll be one of the first to buy it for sure. I understand that most of the American audience isn't crazy about adventure games, especially Myst-like ones that require some serious puzzle solving. What I don't get is why. I loved both Myst and Riven because of that unbelievable feeling of exploration they offered. I mean you are alone in a totally new world and in order to survive you have to understand its philosophy, experiment to learn how things work around there, be observant and imaginative... And all this without having hordes of monsters that want you dead.
I think that adventures -the good old classics, at least- are the only games that allow you to sit down, relax, have a nice cup of coffee and just have fun. Some may find it boring but it's all a matter of timing. I like running around in dungeons killing big bad demons but not all the time.
It's more or less a meaningless thread since everyone has their mind made up on the subject but I'd appreciate your thoughts. I'd like to see how many adventurers we got on these boards. Anybody?
