The Holy Reaver and the Vorpal blade are THE weapons. Also, a +3 katana is wonderful... :)

Bag of Holding is pretty nice.

Ring of Regeneration is nice.

I love my Holy Avenger! Dispel, dispel, dispel!! And with Plate of Balduran, Helm of Glory, and an extra charisma point from a Baldur's Gate's Tome in BG1 I got one striking Paladin... too bad charisma doesn't effect item prices as in Icewind Dale.

Um, Charisma does effect item prices in IWD... I know, just played it yesterday and a paladin gets to pay 810gp for a plate mail while my mage char had the price set at 900... same goes for selling.

I am rather fond of vecna's robe personally, maybe not the best item, but my favorte so far (I just left the underdark, dont remember which chapter I am on) If I can find an item to lower the ac on my kensai, that will definatly win for a favorite item though.

as I said, "too bad Charisma doesn't affect price as in Icewind Dale"... which means that it DID effect prices in Icewind (I know, I played it) Only Reputation effects it here.

trying to remember the name of that bow but its +2 to hit +4 damage, low speed and I can kill majority of stuff before it gets close to me.

nicksull, Charisma does effect prices in BG2. prices went down when i put a Ring of Human Influence (which raises CHR to 18) on my leader. to be more specific, when i took off the ring (now a CHR. of 17) and entered a store, Chain Mail was 95 gold. when i put the ring back on and went back in, Chain Mail was 90 gold and just about all item prices dropped.

The BlackRazor ... thats my fav sword, long sword +3 ,15% chance to drain 4 leve, giving you some strenght 3 I think and 20 hp hehe, imunity to poison and disease.

Man, just found that Celestial Katana... wish I had someone proficient in it.

that +5 2hander that is paladin specific. Once I had that, I went and grabbed Keldorn and then proceeding to open a can of whup-arse on those liches.

I'm only in the Asylum now, but my personal favorite item so far, and the most useful, is the Ring of the Ram. Instant damage, great effect of throwing them across the room. I've used it to kill many of the tougher enemies, such as beholders, mages, and that one Tanar'ri.

OO... anything that keeps me from and my friends dying in combat... (Which is pretty much everything) Ring of Human Influence is nice... sure did attract Aerie fast... though she was wearing it... Doh... And HEY! You're mean! You kept the Black Razor? Just cause he is in hell doesnt mean he's bad ya know! Bah!

So far, I like the Flail of Ages. So far it's the best weapon I've found, and my cavalier rocks with it...almost as much as Mazzy with her bow

I have some pretty cool armor for a thief, but I don't have a straight one in my party that I could use it on. The Nights Gift +5. Still holding on to it.

the Amulet of Power has to my favorite so far. 5% magic resistance, can cast vocalize, and my favorite bonus; casting time is reduced by 1. i gave it to Nalia for now. she can rip off Magic Missle or Chromatic Orb in no time.

IIRC, that amulet has one more excellent ability: Negative plane protection. A F/M can go toe-to toe with vamps and not go down to level 1 in 10 seconds-I HATE it when that happens :(

Well, I like my hill giant strength belt. Why? Cuz I can use it to get equiptment with a high strength requirement onto my weak charactors. After I equip em, I just take the belt off, and they still use it :) Otherwise, I like my Belt of Inertial Barrier. Keldorn is IMMUNE to magic!

What about Crom Fayer?! It gives you 25 stength! And ofcourse Daystar, but it doesn't kill undead outright, only of they don't save or if they are allready weakened, so they die of the damage the sunray does.

Difficult to say, favourites first:

practically: bag of holding, scroll bags, gem bags

magic items: amulet of power (very handy for mages), rings of regenaeration, ring of gaxx, regeneration ion stone

armor: shadow armor (for it can be used by kensai-thieves), firedragonscale, armor of the hart, elven chain and drow-plates/ drow-chains

weapons: boneblade +4, flamethounge, namarra, C`Fury and flail of the ages, mace of disruption, skullcrusher

Bag of holding eliminates almost all $ problems, so it's got to be up there..
Master Thievery potions can do the same, so they're good too.
I just, on my 4th time through, started using wands. Paralyzation can stop most vampires, Fire, can shoot 50 balls and 50 Aga.. Scorchers, freeing up valuable spell slots, and Fear can make those early battles a snap and it's usable by both Clerics and mages.
Moster summoning allowed Jan to take out those Pirates in a cave my himself (with 5 goonies too of course).

Bet it's hard to beat a thief carrying that speed belm and Celestial Fury. Deat in a heart beat.

But number one? Depends on your class, but as a thief it's hard to beat 'hide in shadow'. Even when he's weak, you can block a doorway with him and shoot from a safe distance with everyone else. A good backstab took out Tanovea with one hit, and I was only level 11.

And I just love the unmentioned beauty of the Amulet of Power... immunity to level drain!

Shadow Armor can not be used by k/thief. I'm surprised by you Ragusa. You were my k/t mentor...

Toast: To prevent errors - I´m talking about Mer´Var´s shadow armor and to my surprise it can be worn by kensai-thiefs (not the shadow dragon scale) - as I found it was the only one in the game. I *know* that a kensai shouldn´t be able to wear armor at all so it´s maybe a bug in the german version of BG-2 :)

But YOUR Kensai shouldn't be able to wear armor, and still you use it, because you need it.
MAYBE you are cheating as well and MAYBE you aren't as good as you would like to be... ;)

Hmmz there's a better Thief's armor in my opinion. The armor that you can Cromwell crates when you give him the scales of the shadowdragon. (AC1 50% Acid resistance) (Night Gift is AC 3)

And the only thing where WarBlade is good for is too kill Fierkraag to get the Holy Avenger :)

Punisher: Oh, that´s quite simple, my char don´t don´t really need it, he wears it for it is fashionable - not for chance he´s wearing the ring of charisma instead of the ring of protection (he´s a real womenizer) - and it reduces my AC to -3 IIRC, not enough to speak of cheating :D :p

I can't believe nobody has mentioned cloak of mirrors! Reflects all magical damage back @ the source. Put this, a ring of free action, and sheild of harmony +2 on a fighter, and beholders can only make them run. Place this guy next to a fighter w/ Balduran's sheild and say goodbye.

Punisher ---> I had the same problem but I had a ranger and at lvl 12 I gave him a profiency on Katana... problem solved...
It realy rocks. In the off-hand the katana, to stun and the flail of the ages to do much damage. Maybe when I have 2 profiency-slots on Katana and finished the Underdark, I give Celestrial Fury in the main-hand and Crom Fayr in the Off-Hand... I think Irenicus has a real big problem :)

Well i have a few things that i couldn't live without. C'fury (starts to dribble) give valygar that and lets the chunks fly. I mean it does lightening damage, stuns them and has a chance of nocking them back. also my fave has to be the Equalizer (sits up then back down at the mention of the name) it was perfect 4 my assassin, especialy when he has had long sword profficiencys (is that how u spell it) put on as much as he can. also i have to have the elven armour which slips under yer clothes, you get it near the end. bloody beuatiful. my assasin was perfect. he was wearing the armour, with dex gloves =ac -8, had the equalizer in his main hand and the long sword with the sunray thingy in the other. he made a perfect vamp killer, the equalizer does huge damage against evil (vam=evil) and the sunray one did huge to undead n e way, not to mention the spell.

Headbanger ------> That doesn't work for me any more, because Keldron, Minsc, Jaheira and myself are already at the highest level possible!

oh.....i like holding a celestial fury in mi left hand and a blackrazor in my right hand..veri powerfull.....so wear i can find a very good armor to stealth for mi ranger (except adamintine chain +4)..and anyway waer to get tat girdle of inertial barrier.....

and any good amulets.......

Actually I'd have to say the Bag of Holding.

My favorite item for the amusement factor was Jhor the Bleeder. I can't tell you how many times an opponent broke away with moral failure only to die a few steps later due to the bleeding damage! :) Great fun!

My favorite is Geasans Bow sp? That you get from the dwarf after you collect the shaft and string. It is great cause it needs no ammo refills and shoots lightning bolts :)

I also like (forget the name) the sword that heals you everytime you hit an opponent. :)

That is Gesen Bow and Sarevok's Sword of Chaos +2 if I am not mistaken. ;)

I gotta agree with Jefe. Cloak of Mirroring all the way. I gave it to my Lvl 15 cavalier and pretty much walked thru the beholders in the Underdark. All the lighting bolts they sent went right back at them. I didn't even use the rest of my party. Easily the best I have found throughout the game so far.

If you are into comedy Carsomyr is great. I gave the sword to Minsc, and it is better listening to it than any NPC conversations I have heard so far.

I have a list of weapons which worked perfectly for my assasin from my last game. At every oppurtunity I had my assasin have long sword proffincencies (spelling?) put on. so in one hand and in the other I had the daystar weapon. I had the armour which slips under your clothes i got from the underdark (if u want to know how all i did was put it in the bag of holding and brought it out later on. I think it could of been a glitch) very nice armour. i was a perfect Vampire slayer. the equalizer was brilliant against vamps, coz it does extra damage to evil creatures, the daystar also did a huge bit of damage as well.

I bet there's a good story behind it, but it's pretty internal so I doubt anyone except some Bioware programmers know the whole story.

Yepz the Pantalon's were gold but I thought you could upgrade them with a diamond to silver pantaloons ;)

I thought it gave you +2 AC and 100% magic resistance as well as 25% resistance to cold/fire/electricity... :D

Of course, my favorite item in BG1 was the dead cat you got from the waterfall. In BG2, there are some goodies as well (ie. - withered hands, skulls, legs, etc.)

My favourite all time baldur item has to be the dart +5 you get from the cloak of stars, man those thingies rip through everything!:)

To answer the question about this belt of inertial disruption or something, I remember a belt like that that was for sale in trademeet, one of the merchants at the south, after you've done the quest(s) to make the merchants happy, so they sell to you.

You get like 50% resistance to magic DAMAGE and something else, it was usefull if you had nothing better to do with your money (but there always are some harlots out there ;)

I like amulet of power in combination with robe of vecna, damn you can onload lots off spells in a VERY short time. My char doesnt even say the words all the time.

A certain war hammer which raises your strength to 25. Damn hard to make though.
