After completing Baldur's Gate and you import your character to Baldur's Gate II, if your character is only a single class i.e thief, druid, etc.
Can you alter these character's to give them kits available in the BGII?.

Yes, definitely yes :D (whatever Extremist sais) : You can turn a pure fighter you have played in BG-1 to a kit in BG-2. Your choice here is only limited by your alignment. Given you played a fighter: To choose the berserker kit you need to be of chaotic (maybe neutral either); for a kensai your char must be of lawful alignment.
When you played a dualclassed char in BG-1, you can also choose a kit for your first class, having played a dc fighter-thief in BG-1, you can turn him into a kensai-thief in BG-2 (given your alignment allows that).
