There are things i have done, which could be avoided, that caused me a lot of trouble including one that need to load save game 15 hrs ago.

1 - there is a swampy cave south of cheydinhal, at the tip of the river. Do not enter the cave unless you have been told to. This cave is related to a fighter guild quest where you need to find a dead body. i entered the cave prematurely, looted the dead body and when i was given the quest, the looted dead body already disappear thus i cannot complete the quest.

2 - the "arrow" quest of theif guild require you to steal from a mage. Mage = mage guild member. This part is tricky. As a fellow mage guild member, you can take his "arrow" without penalty, without sneaking. As for all the containers around his tower, some give you red icon, some give you brown icon; some you can loot, some you can't, unless sneaking. Pay attention to that. you don't want to collect 20 dragon tongue and 20 red flower. Worse, you need to do that even you are the arch mage and you can't use the "item generating box" to help you.

Missing out on one fighters guild quest isn't fatal as far as i can tell, you can still level up to become the guild master. Simply forfeit the quest in your own mind and go look for another contract in one of the other fighters guilds.
